Dr. Hsin-Jen Chen is an epidemiologist specializing in public health nutrition. His research focuses on human eating behaviors, dietary patterns, timing of eating, and their implications for health. Recognizing that social and built environments shape dietary practices, he is also interested in how environmental factors influence eating behaviors, diet quality, and health outcomes.

At times dissatisfied with the limitations of purely observational epidemiological methods, he has extended his work to study the effectiveness of innovative interventions designed to improve eating behaviors and health. More recently, he has been applying systems science and participatory approaches to empower individuals and communities in promoting wellness.
