So you have teleported into the middle of a griefer attack. You're getting pushed around by physical rotating cubes. A loud screaming sound is making your teeth hurt. You can't see a thing through the flying obscene pictures. And an object that says it's owned by you is asking whether it's okay to animate your avatar. What will you do?
Don't Panic! Nothing in Second Life can hurt you physically. There's no need for emergency high speed action.
Are there loud and annoying sounds? Mute your computer's speakers for a few minutes.
Always try IMing the owner to see if he will remove the items. "Hey, your megaprim is making it hard to use the sandbox." Or maybe "These jackhammers in Sandbox Cordova sure are loud. Could I persuade you to remove them?" Politeness is the key here.
Another reason to IM the owner before writing the AR is that the person could have been tricked into rezzing a griefer object. Here's one possible way to work through that:
"Hello, did you rez [object type] in [location] on purpose?"
If they say they were tricked into rezzing it, say "If I add you to my friends list, would you temporarily give me permission to edit your objects? I can delete them for you."
While the person is deciding, send a message in the group channel to let arriving members know that the owner was tricked, and make sure to note this in your AR if you write one.
When you are through deleting his objects, make sure to ask him to remove your privileges.

If you know for sure that it's a griefer attack, report it on the group channel. Include the object owner's name, if known, and the location. For example, "Replicating cubes filling Sandbox Goguen, owner AxHandle Voom, location [SLURL]." Including the SLURL in the message will keep your IM window clear of TP requests. You can copy the SLURL by opening the map window and clicking the "Copy SLurl" button.
Is your vision obscured by particles? Hit Ctrl-Shift-Alt-= (or, in the menu, Advanced > Rendering Types > Particles) to turn off particles so you can see.
Find transparent objects by hitting Ctrl-Alt-T (Advanced > Highlighting and Visibility > Highlight Transparent).
Alt-click on an object to select it for viewing. With Disable Camera Constraints turned on, you can zoom in closely on any object you can see.
Many times, griefer objects emitting particle spam will also emit sound, and will be buried underground. Locate them by zooming in and out until the sound is loudest, then holding down Ctrl and Alt, clicking on the ground, and dragging your mouse upward. You will be able to see under the ground and locate the offending object. You can also use the camera controls console (Avatar > Camera Controls) to cam around and find objects.
If you are being pushed or thrown around by scripts, sit on an object, or on the ground (Ctrl-Alt-S). If you're not on damage enabled land, nobody can hurt you. Most offenders get bored pretty quickly and go away if you don't respond to them. Consider using the mute function.
If you are being tormented by followers in a sandbox, try luring them to one of the non scripted zones where their scripts won't work. They are in different places for different sandboxes, but you can always find one around the sandbox sign that lists the rules. World > Show More > Property Lines will let you see the boundaries of the zones.
If there is a graphics crasher nearby, sometimes you can turn off the display of Volume to stop it from crashing you. More information is here: Here's how to defeat graphics crashers
If you're on combat/damage enabled land, being shot at is not abuse. Look for a little red heart to the right of your Help menu at the top of the screen. If you can see it, you're in a valid combat zone, which means weapons fire is permitted. Use of weapons outside areas marked this way is not.
If you are friends with the griefer, or have their calling card, you can remove them from your friends list. This will prevent them tracking you if you decide to go elsewhere.
