Floor Insualtion- Insulation under the floor will reduce your bills by around £50 per year and make your home feel more confortable.
Loft Insulation- the best way you can insulate your home quickly and cheaply is by ensuring you have at least 270mm of loft insulation. You could save up to £145 per year as your heat rises. Can be extremely cheap if your a DIYER.
Cavity Wall insulation- These work well for properties that have a cavity wall they are made up of small foam balls that are injected into the wall cavity and hence stop cold air on exterior wall travelling through the wall easily. Around 1/3 of your heat escapes via the walls so this can be a cheap way to save energy!
Solid Wall insulation- Can be installled either externally or internally and is simply insulation boards installed either externally and rendered or internally and dry lined. Could save you up to £375 per year.
Draft Excluders- These are strips that go around the doors and windows to protect from drafts and could save £25 every year.
If everyone did it we could save £200 Million every year!
Double Glazing- Works with 2 pieces of glass with an air vacuum in between and hence protects cold are outside and hot air inside connecting. Could save you up to £130 per year on bills.
Hot water Tank and pipe insulation- Keep your water hotter by increaing the insulation on your water cylinder 75mm Spray.
If everyone did this we could save enough CO2 to fill 7 Million double decker buses.
Heat pumps- Work by taking heat from air and heats all space heating and sometimes also water. works in a similar way to standing behind your fridge the warm air you feel)
Solar Hot Water- Will heat your water up to some degree and hence saving you heating the water from totally cold.
Photovoltaic- This is the kind of solar panel which will provide energy for you to run lights and other household electrical devices, These are still quite expensive but if you are considering investing you can sell your unused energy back to the national grid so that may be worth considering.
Wind turbine- These produce energy to power products by taking wind power and converting it to electricity these are less expensive but it it most suitable for larger properties with land, Although these can also be installed on the top of your building. You will also have to have a wind speed of at least 5MPH to make a wind turbine worth while.
Hydro Electric- If you live very close to a river this may be worth considering as this is a reliable source of energy. These work by taking energy from the river by turning a turbine under the water.
