Corvettes

The term corvette refers to any space faring ship that masses smaller than a light frigate, or less than 10 thousand metric tons. In many cases, these ships are interplanetary at best, lacking the space or power requirements for a wormhole drive. Some, like the Canary Corp Stingray Corvettes (CCSC), trade the luxury of expansive space in favor of a very small, very fast interstellar ship, leaving the occupants with only a cockpit, common room, and lavatory. While most corvettes are rated to carry nearly a hundred passengers, the CCSC is only rated for seven. Ships of that sort are the playthings of the wealthy private sector citizens. They are outlawed on public sector planets, and most private sector citizens either stay within a system or charter passage on a liner of some sort.
