Patron

The patron of the club is the locally based composer and musician Polo Piatti.

He was born in Buenos Aires and raised in the district of La Boca where tango was born.

He has a distinguished career as a composer and classical concert pianist - winning numerous awards and having played solo concerts to full houses all over the world.

Polo was a child prodigy, starting piano lessons at the age of 3 and being accepted at Latin America’s most prestigious music academy, the National Conservatory in Buenos Aires at the exceptionally young of age of 12.

In his youth he became a student of some of the leading composers and musicians of the time in South America, including Carlos Guastavino, Carlos Lasala and the world’s most famous tango composer: Astor Piazzolla.

In 2007 Polo moved from London to live in Hastings Old Town. Polo has dual nationality, British and Argentine.

Polo worked on a commission by the ‘Musica Sacra’ organisation (Polo’s biggest commission to date) composing the first ever ‘All-Faiths Oratorio’ for full symphonic orchestra, mixed choir, children’s choir and six ethnic groups to be world-premiered in 2014.

He performed in Japan where he premiered his latest suite for piano and orchestra entitled: ‘Sentimental Journey’ to a resounding success.

In Kyoto, Japan, with fellow composer Nobuya Monta

Piatti's Bohemian Concerto for Piano and Orchestra CD is to be launched in October. Recorded by American virtuoso pianist Thomas Pandolfi and the National Symphony Orchestra under conductor John Andrews will be released on the Seafront Records label.

“This is a great virtuoso piece, but it’s also got a real heart and it’s got real soul,... a real tenderness at the core of it that I think pianists and lovers of music are going to find very, very infectious... It’s a great, big, soulful, rich romantic piano concerto.“  John Andrews

“It’s fabulously melodic,... it takes virtuosity probably where Franz Liszt left off and if we go a little bit into the early 20th century’s fabulous piano composers such as Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev, taking those guys and pushing the limits of technique to a higher level.“ Thomas Pandolfi

Polo is the founder and principal conductor of the Hastings Sinfonia as well as the Artistic Director of Europe’s first ever International Composers Festival taking place in St Mary in the Castle, Hastings, during the summer.
