Opportunities

We are located in Nottingham, and the University is situated on an attractive campus within easy reach of the city centre. We are part of The School of Life Sciences and our laboratories are contained within a new multidisciplinary, state-of–the-art Biodiscovery Institute building (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/research/research-areas/biodiscovery-institute/biodiscovery-institute.aspx) adjacent to the Medical School which is housed within the Queen’s Medical Centre. Our links with one of the world leading quorum sensing laboratories, and clinicians offers us numerous unique opportunities.

If you would like to come and work here, then fellowships can be obtained from NERC, BBSRC, MRC, Wellcome and the Royal Society. You may also be eligible to short stay visits using funding provided by EMBO, FEBS, FEMS, or Microbiology Society. A new fellowship scheme provided by the Royal Society is the Newton Fellowship. This is a 2 year fellowship and is open to anyone who wants to come and work in the UK. In addition, it provides a further 10 years of money to help maintain the links which were established during the fellowship. The EU also have schemes for people to come to the UK from other EU countries (Marie Curie Fellowships). If are interested in working with us and have an interesting idea or proposal, do not hesitate to get in contact with Kim Hardie.
