From Harbor Point to and from Tysons Corner/Washington D.C. by Bus and Silver Line Metro
Click on the links below which list the schedules for the two buses which can transport you to and from the Silver Line Metro via South Lakes Drive.
Route for Fairfax Connector 551
Route for Fairfax Connector 553
Going East on the Metro walk to and exit from the South Lakes Shopping Center walking between the BB&T bank and the Sunoco gas station heading toward Twin Branches Road. Cross South Lakes Drive and turn left staying on South Lakes Drive. The bus stop is approximately 50 yards up South Lakes Drive walking towards Sunrise Valley Drive. Both the 551 and 553 buses will pick you up at this location in the morning. One of these two buses should arrive every 15 minutes with the trip to the Silver Line Metro taking no more than 10 minutes. Both the 551 and 553 buses will drop you off at the Silver Line Metro underground at an entrance North of the Dulles Toll Road.
For Westbound passengers, however, both buses have different bus stops to pick you up. The 551 will pick you up underground on the North side of the Dulles Toll Road while the 553 will pick you up at an above ground bus stop South of the Dulles Toll Road. When you exit the train and come upstairs remember to go left to catch the 551 bus, right to catch the 553 bus. If you take the 551 bus coming home and are going to Harbor Point, you can get off at either the first stop on South Lakes Drive (Sagewood Lane on the Fairfax Connector map - next to Safeway) or the second stop adjacent to the Sunoco station, which gives you a shorter walk to Harbor Point. If you take the 553 bus you should get off at the first stop on South Lakes Drive to go to Harbor Point. The 553 turns left on Twin Branches Road at the light before the Sunoco station. Although there is a bus stop on Twin Branches there is little distance savings in walking to Harbor Point.
