This section is a repository for miscellaneous files. Some examples why it might become necessary to post such files:
1. Linking to files in Facebook. This tactic provides one way around Facebook's 420-character limit for status updates. It also has the added but perhaps dubious consequence of "enhancing" your Facebook page as calculated by Facebook's algorithm.
There is another variation on this theme. Simply upload a one-pixel image to Facebook that will be virtually imperceptible. Then add your commentary to the photo. Your post will now appear almost as if it were a plain status update. This method is more appealing visually than a garbled url link to an artificial web site.
Both methods rely on the fact that as of this writing (25 July 2011), there apparently is no significant limit on comments responding to photos, links, or videos. The 420-character limit applies only to basic status updates.
2. Hosting a file with all relevant links from any given web site. The resulting sitemap list file can then be submitted to Google's WebMaster Tools. This technique will help Google's web crawler to improve your site's visibility in Google search results. After you successfully submit the file to Webmaster Tools, you may then safely delete the file if you prefer.
