As a student I had a summer job at the Hema Distribution Center in Utrecht. I had to collect the orders from different Hema shops, which went to the different shops to sell to the customers. Back then there were no robots helping with collecting the orders. As an order picker I was walking a lot through the rows to collect a big cart. Sometimes, I was pushing two of those carts at the same time.
What I further remember was that there were three different parts of the distribution center. I was in the one collecting things like towels. A few times I worked in the secured part where watches and other jewelry were collected for the Hema stores.
Another thing I remember was that I was happy to return to my studies of Business Economics after this summer job. A good advantage of this summer job was that my condition improved even better. My tennis teacher was happy that I could get to all the balls how far or fast he was throwing them to me.
