Youth and Masters Rowing Coach, Part-time
Position Overview: We are seeking a part-time coach to lead a Youth Half-Day Camp (8:30 am - 12:00 pm) from June 23-27 and to continue leading coached sessions in the afternoon/evening and on weekends throughout the summer for youth and masters members. Additional opportunities include fall sessions and private lessons. The coach will be part of the Green Mountain Rowing coach team and will report to the President of the club.
Ongoing practice times can be flexible with your schedule but weekday late afternoons and weekend mornings are preferred. The ideal candidate can commit to coaching at least three sessions a week.
Key Responsibilities:
Coach 4-8 beginner scullers during the Youth Half-Day Camp (June 23-27), introducing and developing rowing techniques, teamwork, and fitness.
Provide continuous coaching for youth and masters athletes (ages 12-75), of various levels, throughout the summer (and fall, if available).
Conduct individual and group coaching sessions, focusing on skill development, fitness, and teamwork.
Ensure all training is safe, inclusive, and adheres to club values.
Qualifications:
Personal competency in sculling with at least one year of coaching experience
Passion for coaching and helping athletes of all levels succeed and grow
Strong communication skills, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
Ability to work with a diverse group of athletes ranging from youth beginners to experienced masters rowers
Boater’s License required
Current SafeSport certification
Valid CPR certification
USRowing Level I Certified coach or ability to complete the course upon hiring
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly, non-exempt position, estimated 8-10 hours a week mid-June-August, except for the youth camp week June 23-27 which is 20 hours
Starting wage range is $20-$25/hour, commensurate with experience
Green Mountain Rowing 2025 Membership and club equipment use
Financial support for USRowing Level I or Level II certifications and related requirements
