Green Mountain Rowing offers club equipment for those with prior sculling experience, and people will be qualified to different club equipment based on their skill level.
If you are coming from another club with your own rowing equipment, you can contact Erik Breiland about boat storage availability.
People with sweep rowing experience only or just a little sculling experience need to do group rows where they can get help carrying the larger singles that need 2 people to carry the boat. These group rows could be as small as 2 people, but most people with some rowing experience need about 10 hours of time on the water in a supervised practice to be safe with the equipment. Some people will need more time if wanting to carry and row a single on their own. They then graduate to becoming a "Renter" Member. Cost and benefits are on the GMR membership form under the Documents tab.
If you have no sculling experience, but just know this is the sport you want to dive into, we suggest first spending a week or weekend at Craftsbury Sculling Center. It really is the best sculling camp in the world for beginners or those looking to get better. Many of our club members still go there annually to get coaching. Our club does not have a full time coach, so besides the occasional sculling clinic, Craftsbury Sculling Center fills the coaching gap. If you don't fall into one of these categories, please contact one of our officers directly.
If you have questions, see our FAQ page, Mentor/Mentee program page to see if that covers the question before contacting one of our officers directly.
Thanks for your interest in our club!
