2024 NEW HOLIDAY SHOW GUIDELINES – PROGRAM LENGTH
2024 Holiday Show
Each year, GBFSC holds a Holiday Show where skaters are encouraged to showcase the solo programs. The only group number in the show is our traditional Basic Skills level 1-2 Let it Snow.
As in the past, all skaters are welcome to participate, program time is determined by test level - either Skating Skills or Singles.
Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. We will do our best to ensure all interested skaters have the opportunity to register for one number in the holiday show (time permitting based on ice time). Skaters may perform in one number only. (Sharper Edge skaters who may perform in one number in addition to their synchro team number.)
Please refer to the Music Selection section below to ensure that your music is on the approved list.

2024 NEW SPRING SHOW GUIDELINES – PROGRAM LENGTH
The GBFSC Spring Show each year has a group for every skating level. All skaters must participate in the group if they wish to be in the show.
New: Only skaters that have passed Pre-Preliminary Singles or above will also be eligible for a solo for the Spring Show this season. This is the first Singles test level.
It is important to note that GBFSC has historically had certain test level requirements for a show solo, and these were at higher test levels. As the group of skaters passing the Pre-Preliminary Singles test grows, we fully anticipate the minimum test level increasing in future years.
Test cutoff date for qualifying for a solo is Friday, January 31, 2025.
Please take advantage of the tests GBFSC offers on various Saturdays during the year, listed on the GBFSC website. In many cases, these create a low stress setting as skaters are not on the ice alone.
As some of our skaters will not be able to perform a solo, we will do our best to offer smaller group numbers in the end of year show that are closer to each LTS level.
Music Selection: U.S. Figure Skating understands that music is an important part of a figure skating performance and balancing that against copyright laws when determining if a song can legally be used. As a result, new rules have been issued that GBFSC and all of our skaters must follow for show performances, testing, or any other time that music is used in skating.
U.S. Figure Skating partnered with the largest performance music usage organizations to create a very comprehensive database of music options for skaters to choose from.
To find out if a song is covered by the U.S. Figure Skating Performance License, a skater can search in songview.com. You can type your music title and performer where indicated on songview or search options to look up a full list. See pictures below on what you will expect to see in songview. This will be followed by an approval. Only songs labeled as "100% cleared" are covered and can be played at live events.
NEW: Performances with music can no longer be recorded or streamed with music. This change also includes no posting with music on social media.
It is the responsibility of all involved in the skating performance process to ensure compliance. While a coach may play a key role in the music selection, skaters and parents/guardians are responsible to ensure that a song is on the approved list.
Skaters and parents/guardians will be solely responsible for any policy violations regarding recording or social media posting.
We regret if these music changes, which we must adhere to, seem onerous, but we can all work together to navigate through for our skaters to shine!
