Band Camp Update from Mr. McFadden
Hi Everyone!
We are one week away from band camp! If you haven't signed up yet, please do so right now: https://goo.gl/forms/3aOj5AljLxUDuIyo2
Students, text the other students from your sections to make sure they've signed up. Synergy hasn't reloaded in our school system yet so I don't have access to those email addresses. We are currently relying on our list serve, Facebook, and word of mouth.
We need to see everyone at camp!

2018 Grant Band Camp
August 20, 23–24
Monday, August 20 – Leadership (AM) & Percussion (PM)
9:00 - 12:00 – Leadership Training & Set-up
(Leadership = Band Council and Principal Players)
12:00 - 3 pm – Percussionists Only
Tuesday, Wednesday – Nothing for band students. (All day PPS staff training.)
Thursday, August 23 – All students
12:00 – 12:30 - Introductions
12:30 – 2:00 – Rehearsal
2:00 – 2:30 – Activity
2:30 – 4:00 – Rehearsal
Friday, August 24 – All Students
10:00 – 11:50 – Jazz Rehearsal
(For jazz students and any others interested)
12:00 – 1:30 – Music Rehearsal
1:30 – 2:00 – Activity
2:00 – 2:30 – Sectionals
2:30 – 4:00 – Music Rehearsal
4:00 – 4:30 – Ice Cream Social (Families welcome)
Students should bring to camp each day:
__ Instrument
__ Music Folder
__ Pencil
__ Water
__ Tennis shoes/sneakers
__ Comfortable clothing
__ Refreshments will be provided
BAND BOOSTERS MEETING - ALL PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS WELCOME!
Our first meeting of the year will be on, Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30 PM. The location is yet to be determined but it will be in the Grant neighborhood. Everyone is welcome to attend, we would especially love to meet new families!
The Grant Band Boosters are a friendly and fun group of parents who meet monthly, along with Mr. McFadden, to support the band program. We would love to have YOUR support. Your help improves the quality of the music experience for our students at Grant. Please consider joining us for a meeting or two to see what it’s all about.
We have some board positions open this school year:
President-Elect, As President-Elect, you would attend monthly meetings and prepare to assume the duties of booster president the following year. Contact MaryBeth Hernandez to learn more.
Sweet Sound of Jazz Planning Team. This team is a group of about 10 parents who work together to plan this fabulous fundraiser event which typically takes place in February. Contact Kelly McCollum to learn more.
PTA Liaison This parent will attend monthly Grant PTA meetings as a Grant Band representative and report back to us what you learn. It's a pretty easy way to volunteer, but super helpful! Please contact MaryBeth Hernandez if you are interested.
INCOMING GRANT BAND FAMILIES
We're excited to welcome all of the new families to Grant Band! The Band Boosters put together some helpful information for new families joining us next year. Please pass this information along to any parents of incoming freshman band students.
