Grant High School Instrumental Music Program Boosters' Bylaws

Article I - Name and Purpose

1. The name of this organization shall be the Grant High School Instrumental Music Program Boosters.

2. The purpose of the organization is to foster, promote and support the vision and direction of the Grant High School Instrumental Music Program Director.

3. This organization is financially affiliated with the Grant High School PTA.


Article II - Membership

1. Membership in the organization shall consist of parents, caregivers, instrumental music students, the director, and interested community members.


Article III – Meetings

1. Regular meetings shall be held monthly. The specific meeting time shall be determined at the first general meeting of the school year.

2. Robert's Rules of Order shall govern all meetings of the organization.

3. A quorum shall consist of the members present at each meeting.


Article IV - Officers and Elections

1. The officers shall consist of the President, President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer.

2. The Executive Board shall consist of all elected officers. The Executive Board shall have general supervision of the affairs of the organization, and shall meet as needed at times determined by the president or by a majority of the Executive Board.

3. The President shall preside at all meetings and appoint committee chairpersons when committees are formed. The President shall be a member ex officio of all committees.

4. The President Elect shall perform duties of the President in his or her absence and act in an advisory capacity at all times. The President Elect shall assume the office of President in the year following his or her term as President Elect. In case of inability to serve or resignation of the President, the President Elect shall fill the unexpired term.

5. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all Executive Board and Booster meetings and make these available to the membership through a written report. This report will be posted to the website after approval by the Boosters.

6. The Treasurer shall act as custodian of the organization's funds, maintain financial records, invest funds, and submit reports as requested, including providing a financial report to the Grant High School PTA Treasurer each month.

7. The Executive Board will maintain a current and accurate description of each position on the Grant High School Instrumental Music Program website.


Article V -Nominations and Elections

1. The terms of office shall be at least one year with the potential to renew for the following year.

2. At the regular March and April meetings, the Executive Board will discuss any nominations of officers for the following year.

3. Officers shall be elected at the regular May meeting and shall assume their duties on June 1.

4. Veto power over all nominations shall be held by the Music Instrumental Director along with the majority of the Executive Board.


Article VI – Amendments

1. These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a membership meeting. Proposed amendments shall be available to every member prior to the vote.
