What an awesome first week!! 2 gigs, 2 days of school, and countless great moments! The bands this year have started out strong and have so much potential. Look out October 8th (first concert), it's gonna be incredible. Thank you to the students who all came back to school with such enthusiasm, respect, and love for music and each other.

PEP BAND PLAYS THIS FRIDAY SEPT. 4!

Pep Band will play its first official performance this Friday, Sept. 4 for Grant's football season opener against Lakeridge at Lincoln High School. Kickoff is 7:30 pm. Bus transportation to Lincoln for the band will be provided - Mr. McFadden will announce call and return times as soon as details are finalized. Check Facebook or here on the website for updates.

We'll need two or three adults to ride the buses with the band to and from the game. If you can volunteer, please email Mr. McFadden asap at bmcfadden@pps.net

All students except strings participate in Pep Band this year. Come see them in action and cheer on the football team - it's a lot of fun! Go Generals!

Event dates for Band this year are now listed on the Calendar page. We're using a Google-based version this year so you can easily save band events to your personal calendar. We're also in the process of redesigning the website. It looks a little different now than in past years - we'll let you know as more changes happen.

AUDITION ONLINE FOR HONOR BANDS

Auditions for All-State and Western International Band Clinic (WIBC) open Tuesday, Sept. 1

Audition materials are online and will be available in the band room. All students will be required to either audition for one of these events or perform one of the auditions for Mr. McFadden.

BAND BOOSTERS MEET SEPT. 15

Please join the Grant Band Boosters and get involved! Our meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month, so mark your calendar for this school year's first meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. We will meet in the band room (directly behind the auditorium).

If you can't make Tuesday night meetings, don't count yourselves out to help. We will need parent volunteers at concerts with concessions and set-up, carting equipment to/from area performances, setting up and staffing fundraisers and more. working with Mr. McFadden on travel, and helping with uniforms and marching/pep band.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

We need a few volunteers to staff the Band table at Back to School Night, Tuesday, Sept. 22 Monday, Sept 21. If you can help, please email our volunteer coordinator Donna Wax for details at dwax@pacifier.com.
