PEP BAND DETAILS FOR WEDNESDAY GIG

Thanks to the Pep Band musicians who signed up to play this Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the grand opening of the Hassalo on 8th apartment complex near Lloyd Center Mall! Here are confirmed details from Mr. McFadden:

Wed. Oct. 28 Pep Band (optional gig)

Hassalo on 8th Grand Opening, 1088 NE 7th Ave, Portland, OR 97232

Attire: All black 

Call time/Travel: Meet in the band room by 3:20 pm. Walk to NE 33rd & Brazee to take the #70 bus to location

Perform: 4:30-5 pm

Return trip: Board #70 at either 5:16 or 5:34 depending on how efficient we are. Back at Grant by 5:50 pm

Because of Pep Band's participation, the event organizers are donating $500 to the Grant band program! 

MARCHING REHEARSALS FOR 2015 VETERANS DAY PARADE

Marching Band - which includes students from Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Lab, Jazz Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble - is getting ready for its annual appearance in the Veterans Day Parade, Wednesday, November 11 in the Hollywood District. The rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Fri. Oct. 30 - noon-3 pm (followed by Band Halloween Party - See below)

Wed. Nov. 4 - 3:30-5 pm

Tues. Nov. 10 - 3:30-5 pm

PARADE DAY:

Wed. Nov. 11

Veterans' Day Parade

Call Time is TBD depending on Grant's place in parade order

12:30 pm Pizza Party for the Marching Band in the band room AFTER students turn in uniforms

The parade starts at NE 40th and Tillamook and concludes at NE 48th and Sandy Boulevard. We'll need several adult drivers with SUVs or minivans to meet the band at the end of the route to help get equipment back to Grant. BAND HALLOWEEN PARTY THIS FRIDAY AFTER REHEARSAL

This Friday, October 30, band council is hosting a Halloween party for all band students right after the marching rehearsal. (String Orchestra students are invited too!) The party will officially start at 3 pm in the band room and end at 6 pm.

Activities include: a costume and marching contest (voted by fellow band members), a killer playlist, a movie playing in the auditorium, and of course snacks!

We encourage you to wear your costume during the rehearsal so you won’t miss out on any of the fun!

GRANT MUSICIANS CHOSEN FOR ALL-STATE

Nine Grant students were accepted to perform with the All-State bands and orchestra. The following students received the honor of being recognized as some of the top high school musicians in the state of Oregon and will perform in Eugene at the Oregon Music Educators Association Conference in January:
