WE/JE TRIP -- REGISTER NOW
The spring trip to San Francisco for Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble is April 20-23. It will be a fantastic time for students to learn, perform, and have fun on the road! Students should let Mr. McFadden know ASAP if they cannot make the trip.
Information packets will go home with students this week. Because of the recent school closures, we just found out that the spring band trip registration deadline is approaching fast!
Please read the trip overview flyer for registration and payment details, then go to www.etsi.ws to register right away.
NOTE: The Band Boosters are contributing funds to help reduce the cost for all students. You can choose to pay the full amount ($660), or you can pay $525 and the Boosters will make your final payment of $135.
CLARK COLLEGE JAZZ FEST
This jazz festival at Clark College in Vancouver, WA is Jan. 28.
Grant's Jazz Ensemble will be performing at 1:20pm with a clinic at 1:40pm. If we make finals, that performance begins at 7 pm. There are so many great bands at this festival, it might be worth sticking around to hear the competition... but Mr. McFadden will make the call that afternoon about whether the group will stay for the duration, or drive back and wait to hear about finals.
Students are expected to arrive at Clark College campus by 12:15pm. We are arranging carpools from Grant and are seeking drivers. Please email Mr. McFadden if you are willing to drive, and let him know how many seats you have available.
SWEET SOUND OF JAZZ NEEDS YOU!
Grant Band Boosters is hosting our annual Sweet Sound of Jazz Fundraiser on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Grant High School. This is the largest fundraiser of the year and we could use some help gathering donations. Our goal is to have as many families contribute as possible. If we all do a little, it will help a lot!
There are two EASY ways to help:
1.) Donate something you purchase or that you already have.
Do you have Blazers or Timbers seats you’d like to donate? A nice bottle of wine? A cabin in the mountains?
Are you an amazing baker and want to make a beautiful cake for the Dessert Dash? If so, that counts as a contribution!
Write down what you'd like to donate in our sign-up form.
2.) Ask a neighborhood business to donate a gift certificate to our fundraiser.
You can call, walk-in, or email a business and ask them to make a donation. We've listed some suggestions in our sign-up form.
If you need help with wording about what to say, use our handy letter and procurement form, or email one of the SSOJ committee chairs.
Please make note of what you'll request from a business in our SSOJ sign-up form.
Any questions? Contact our SSOJ chairs: Amy Geoffroy or Kelly McCollum
