WIND ENSEMBLE IS CLINIC BAND FOR JANUARY OSU SYMPOSIUM
The Grant Wind Ensemble will be the clinic band for Oregon State University's Conducting Symposium on Friday, January 8! Four band directors from around the area will work with Dr. Sarah McKoin, the director of bands at Texas Tech University to improve their technique as conductors. This will be a terrific opportunity for us to learn from Dr. McKoin and some exquisite educators at OSU.
After the event the Grant Band will get to unwind at OSU's Memorial Union basement from 10 pm-midnight. They will have cosmic bowling lanes, pool tables, darts, a video game room, and food. We have the entire space checked out exclusively for the band.
We will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn just down the road for the night. The following morning after a hot breakfast, we will get a campus tour led by current OSU students and then we are hoping to perform at the Stoneybrook Retirement Home before coming back to Portland in the late afternoon on Saturday.
For all of that, it will cost each student only $75.
Because the trip happens right after winter break, Mr. McFadden will collect the $75 trip fee for each student by Monday, December 7. Please contact Mr. McFadden at bmcfadden@pps.net if you have questions, concerns or need financial scholarship to attend.
