BAND BOOSTERS MEETING - CANCELLED

The Band Boosters meeting scheduled for tonight is cancelled due to the weather. We're trying to re-schedule for another night this month. Stay tuned...

BAND FESTIVALS

UPCOMING FESTIVALS

(1) OSU Band Festival (WE): February 26th/February 27th

Message from Mr. McFadden:

With school ending early, we didn't get one of our last rehearsals before festival season. It is vital that you review the attached document that lists specific measures and instructions for each of our pieces by section. Obviously, there is always even more work that could be done, but if we all focus on the assignments listed, we'll be in good shape. Scroll through the document to find your instrument and the three pieces. Put in some practice time every day. It's the best way to improve and retain.

As soon as I hear if our time is successfully switched to Monday, I'll let you know. The final band director I'm waiting on would give us a 1 pm performance time on Monday giving us plenty of time to get back for the PYP concert. Otherwise, we'll stick with our 3 pm Tuesday time and deal with the absence of juniors accordingly. He's supposed to write me today (Tuesday).

Section leaders, when we get back to school, it would be a good idea to hold a sectional.

Thank you in advance for your work and your pride in our ensemble.

(2) PIL Solo/Ensemble Contest: March 3rd

Solo/Ensemble should be set soon. That schedule will get sent out as soon as Mr. McFadden has it. Participating students should make sure they are connecting/rehearsing with accompanists and have an original copy of their solo for the judge.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS NEEDED

PRESIDENT-ELECT

This is MaryBeth's 2nd year as Band Boosters President (thanks MaryBeth!) and she would like to pass this role on to someone new. Are you interested? This is is a great way to help Grant Band (and Mr. McFadden). And...Band Boosters parents are a lot of fun to work with. Please email MaryBeth Hernandez to learn more about the position to see if it's a good fit for you.

PTA LIAISON

Grant Band is looking for a parent to attend monthly Grant PTA meetings as a Grant Band representative and report back to us what you learn. Consider finding a team of 2-3 parents that you can rotate this role with. It's a pretty easy way to volunteer, but super helpful! Please contact MaryBeth Hernandez if you are interested.
