The most difficult decision we as a Club has to make is around team selection. Trying to make things fair is not an easy task and becomes a bit of balancing act. As a result the club has tried to establish a set set of Policies which help us make the decision.
Fox Cubs
With regards Fox cubs, the selection process is simple. There are a max of 30 places and we fill these on a first come first served basis. At the start of each term the places will offered to existing players before being opened to new members. Once the figure of 30 has been reached then new players are then placed on a waiting list.
During the season some U7s may be invited to play at U8, this will be done to give these players some experience of league football. However it is important to note, this will only be done if there are sufficient spare places in the U8 teams.
Mini Soccer
During the mini soccer stage, the club will run as many teams at each age group as practically possible.
Places in each team will still be filled on a first come first served basis within their own age group.
Once a team has 10 players, we considered the team as full. Any subsequent players are then placed on a waiting list. Once a place becomes available within their age group then we will offer these places based on registration date. There will be no selection based on ability at this stage except in relation to playing up an age group.
At the start of the season, the club may offer spare places in older age groups to those players at 1 year below. i.e an under 9 may be offered a place in the under 10 side. This offer is dependent on a number of factors including player's ability to play up an group.
Multiple teams, in the event the club has multiple teams, the club will at the start of the season rebalance the sides to ensure that one team is not too weak. Whilst the club will be sympathetic to friendships and try where possible to ensure that friends play together, it can not be guaranteed.
Youth
Between the ages of U11 - U14, Between these ages we have the option to play either 9v9 or 11v11 During this age group, the club will make the decision to go to 11 aside. This decision will based on the team's ability and number of players available. Once at 11 a side the Squad by now should be pretty settled and changes in or out will be rare. More emphasis will be placed on ability and this may effect the starting line up and amount of match time.
Multiple teams, in the event the club is able to field multiple teams at youth age, The teams will be streamed with an A and B team. Players will be placed in the team that will benefit both the player and the club.
Senior (U15 and above)
Once the players reach U15, players will then start to be conditioned towards adult football. The club will at this stage hold annual trials and the squad will be limited to fixed size. There will be no recruitment mid season except to fill vacant places.
