Kathy worked with watercolors, ink, printmaking and paper collage. She explored symbols and their context with both reverence for the form and a wild eye for giving the symbols new life. She would fall in love with a pattern, with a tree, a color, a goddess and she would follow that love through many paintings. She always returned to certain themes in work, most notably trees.
I love this picture of my Mom and this is how I will always think of her... painting with a cat and music for company.
