These are some of the regular events that we hold during our scouting year:
Joining Night
It all starts here, where leaders from Pack 325 “do their best” to explain the scouting experience to families who are considering joining.
Orientation Night
Following Cub Scout Sign up Night, once the Scouts are organized into Packs, there needs to be a Pack Specific meeting of the PARENTS only where scouts are organized into dens, leaders step forward to lead the new dens, and expectations of the Pack, the Den, the Scout and the FAMILY are reiterated.
Pack Meetings
Monthly, September through May, but not in October, (Halloween Party), December, (Holiday Party), or March, (Blue and Gold Dinner). Pack meetings are used for advancement ceremonies and pack announcements. Pack meetings are also primarily for scouts to interact with their “extended” Pack family through skits and songs and games and den reports.
Leaf Rake
One of the objectives of scouting is Community Service and Pack 325, have been having leaf rakes and yard cleanup for families that are unable to perform this task themselves. By working the yards of first church parishioners we are able to pay back the Church for letting us use their facilities.
Halloween Party
Scouts, (and their siblings, and their parents can too) wear a costume. Each den creates and mans a game station where candy prizes are awarded to successful participants, (everyone who tries). Treats and coffee are served, and prizes are awarded for best costumes to end the evening.
Pack Overnights
Once-a-year sleepovers with Scouts, parents and siblings at museums are a traditional part of the scouting year.
Holiday Party
A fun and easy event usually consisting of some skits, some songs, a game and a craft.
Pinewood Derby
One of the favorite events of the year. Scouts and their parents work together to build, from a kit, a fast, (and compliant), car that competes with the rest of the pack for the trophy. For more information just Google "Pinewood Derby" and there will be a plethora of information. A Den award is given to the slowest Den car.
Blue & Gold/ Arrow of Light
This is the big night in scouting. The whole concept of scouting is celebrated with a meal and entertainment and a ceremony at which we graduate our outgoing scouts. This is a family event.
Memorial Day Parade
Scouts strut their stuff in front of the whole town of Granby on this important day.
Crossover Picnic
The last pack event of the scouting year. It is a family event. All scouts who will be participating in the program next year “cross over” to the next rank and then say a tearful goodbye to their pack friends and leaders.
Annual Campout
Sometimes it’s a little chilly, but it is always fun to camp out locally. Set up your tent, watch the games, have dinner with your den and then enjoy being entertained by the scouts by the light of a roaring bonfire. After a good nigh’s sleep a pancake breakfast helps you start the new day.
Yard Goats/ Wolf Pack Outing
Scouts love the roar of the crowd, the feats of athleticism and the goofy entertainment that come with visits to our local minor league venues.
Summer Events
In the past, a models rockets and rain gutter regatta events have taken place.
