Granby Pack 325 is made up of several dens. Each den is grouped by grade level and can be joined at any time (new scouts do not have to “go back” and work on ranks designed for earlier grade levels, even if missed due to their time of joining).
Lion Den : Kindergarten
Tiger Den : First Graders (6-7 years old)
A family, home, and community centered program that encourages ethical decision-making skills. The scouts participate with their adult partners. The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community, and family understanding.
Wolf Den : Second Graders (7-8 years old)
A year-round family, home, and community centered program that encourages ethical decision-making skills. The scouts will learn more about staying healthy, knowing their home and community, tools for fixing and building, cooking healthy, being safe, making good choices, and much more.
Bear Den : Third Graders (8-9 years old)
In the Bear Den, there are four general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self. There are 120 achievement tasks and your Bear Cub must earn a certain number of achievements in each of the four groups to earn the Bear Badge. This is the year your child will grow in amazing ways. After earning their Bear Badge, the scout may earn arrow points by completing additional achievement tasks.
Much of the advancement for the Bear rank is done by the scout with the family outside of the den. The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook in our tracking Software. The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with the den and more individual direction as they graduate to Webelos.
Webelos One Den : Fourth Graders (9-10 years old)
Webelos Two Den : Fifth Graders (11-12 years old)
Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys and girls to prepare to join a Scouts BSA troop while learning outdoor skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'scout-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop. The Webelos program has two major milestones - the Webelos rank badge to be earned at the 4th grade level and the Arrow of Light to be earned at the 5th grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Scouts BSA troop selected individually by the scout.
