Hello Pack 325!!
We are 1 week away from Race day. Race Day is February 6th!!
The leaders of Pack 325 are actively planning for a great 2021 COVID-style Pinewood Derby event that will be streamed live right here and also on the Pack 325 Facebook page.
Also, we are excited to announce that we have a BRAND NEW Timing system and integrated software this year that will be more efficient and accurate!
In order to stay safe and adhere to the state and local guidelines, the event will be run as such:
- Only leaders will be allowed in the church on Race Day.
- Masks will be worn at all times.
- There are three categories for competing: Scouts, Siblings, and Adults. We have a limited number of extra car kits for purchase at $5 each if anyone wants to make a new car and throw it on the starting line! Of note, Scout cars must be made NEW each year, but sibling and adult cars from years past can be entered. We will also have the Den Car race for the slowest den car and bragging rights of the Golden Hubcap award!!
- We will have staggered times for registration and technical inspection/weigh in. There are two options for this; Friday evening when the leaders are setting up and again on Saturday morning. There are two time slots per 15 minute interval. Please only one parent and scout per check in slot as you will proceed into the tech table inside to church to complete the process. Once the car is checked in, it goes to the staging deck and stays there until race time.
- Please use the Signup genius to register for a time to check your car in: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080E4DA4AA2FAAFD0-pinewood
- Cars are allowed to have ONE wheel raised...the rules have no mention of this, but our pack has allowed it for the past several years, and it is also allowed at the district race. What you cannot do, whether you run on 3 or 4 wheels, is bend the axles or cant the wheels (rail ride), or round off the wheels.
- Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each den and the first place from each den goes onto the district competition. There are also trophies for the top three fastest cars overall.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to ask, simply email the pack or contact your Den Leader. We realize that it won't be the same this year, but we still hope for complete participation in this grand event of tradition during this unprecedented year!!
Start working on those cars and we'll see you all on February 5th and 6th for check in time!!!
Yours in Scouting - Andrea and the PWD Race Team
