The Bible tells us that the very existence of God is evident in the world around us. A person simply has to to look at the stars in the sky and the awesome world and life that we live in and know there is a God. However, the Bible also teaches us that it is our very nature to turn our back on God and create for ourselves our own 'gods' and beliefs that further our own desires and wants.
We often hear, and even ask ourselves, how can God do this to us, or how could a loving God let this happen to us? First of all, it is important to understand what is happening in the world we live in. What is going on is far, far bigger than our petty daily complaints and wants. Long ago, before Man existed, God had a top angel, the most beautiful of the angels with Him in heaven. But this angel allowed his own pride to corrupt him and decided that he should be over God. His name was Lucifer, whom we call Satan or the Devil. He convinced a third of the angels of Heaven to follow him. As a result, Lucifer and those angels tried to rebel against God. As a result, there is a spiritual war taking place even now.
The Bible tells us about the ending of this great spiritual war -- God wins. But this war is happening right now. Earth is a battleground. The Bible also tells us that God created Man in His own image. Satan has already tried to attack God directly. He failed and was kicked out of Heaven. So, now he is trying to get to God through those God loves, you and me. Satan tries to corrupt mankind and encourages God's own people to turn our backs on God. He does this by tempting us to sin and become caught up in our own pride and wants. Disasters, hate, and sicknesses are the works of Satan. He hates us and wants to corrupt and destroy all of us.
It is God's desire that none should perish. Originally, God taught Man how to cleanse himself of their sins through sacrifice and prayer. Eventually though, Man's sin became too great that the sacrifices were not sufficient to cover the sins of Man. Therefore God made the ultimate sacrifice to show Mankind His unfailing and everlasting love for His children, He sent His one and only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to the Earth to be that ultimate sacrifice.
