Carving wood and working with wood reminds us that our Lord Jesus created the trees we depend upon for our very lives. Without trees we would not have enough oxygen to breath as they take in the carbon dioxide and breath out the oxygen we need. In addition the wood we derive from these trees blesses us with warmth in fireplaces and a wonderful building and in Howard's case a carving material to use to represent God's amazing creatures. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it is a duck, unless it is one of Howard's beautiful works of art. He has carved many other things as well with a talent God has given him to do so. And wood reminds us also of our Lord Jesus in that Joseph, Mary's husband, was a carpenter and most likely our Lord Jesus growing up in regard to His human nature worked with Joseph with wood and making things folks needed back then.
