George shared this image with us as a symbol of farming. The hard work necessary for gaining our daily bread from the earth now uses machines but the labor involved in bringing in the produce for all of us is still quite strenuous for our farmers for whom we give God thanksgiving for their energy and pray for their strength.

Farming reminds us of this text from Matthew where our Lord Jesus compares the harvesting of farmers to the harvesting we are called to do for Him - to make disciples of all nations and teach them about Him and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
