Gladys is 104 years old and loves doing the crossword puzzles. The crossword puzzle reminds me of the cross of our Lord Jesus which seems to puzzle us until we realize it was on that old cross that our God came in the flesh to die for our sins and save us. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me..He is an amazing gracious merciful God to do this for us. The crossword puzzles challege our minds to understand the clues. The clue that we are loved by a Savior is the cross upon which He suffered and died for us.

When she was 3 years old she started to go to Sunday School and they would begin with 20 minutes of singing and memorizing hymns - so she has known many hymns by memory since she was 3 years old - for 101 years. I asked her what she enjoyed most about teaching school for all those years and she said quite remarkably "I enjoyed looking on their faces when they got something and understood something new." She taught mostly in rural schools.
