Stress - Strain (example question).

The following data were obtained from a tensile test on a specimen of an aluminium alloy.

Using the graph paper supplied,

(1) Plot the stress-strain diagram and then determine:

(2) The 0.1% proof stress

(3) Young’s Modulus of Elasticity for the specimen.

(2) Find 0.1% Proof Stress

From the graph, the 0.1% proof stress is 325N/mm2

(3) Find Young’s Modulus of Elasticity for the specimen.

To obtain an accurate answer, choose a point from the given table which you used to draw the straight line portion of the graph eg.  Stress= 125 / Strain = 1.4.
