What is an HOA?
HOA stands for Homeowners Association. A Homeowners association is made up of residents that volunteer to manage the common areas (green spaces, community center) and interests in a community, typically a subdivision. Our Homeowners association has a board of trustees
What is a trustee?
A Trustee is the title for the members of the Homeowners association. Our Homeowners association board of trustees has six members. The trustees are resident volunteers that take the concerns, complaints and issues and report them to the proper departments in St Louis County in order to solve them. They also hold resident meetings, search for resources and information to share with the community.
What are HOA fees and what are they for?
The $14.50 per year that every home has to pay (if you are a renter, your landlord pays this) is to maintain the common areas (cut grass in green spaces), pay the utilities, maintain and repair the community center, insurance, lawyer fees and pay the management company that handles the bills. The board of trustees do not handle the money. The HOA fees and bills go to the management company, they request the board approval to pay bills, we approve, and the bills get paid.
Why can't we have speed bumps/humps?
Our streets are owned and maintained by St Louis County and they do not approve this type of traffic calming measures as they interfere with the emergency vehicles and snowplows. Other traffic calming measures are being looked into.
