Math News:
The Mount Sinai Math department has been busy with several events in last month. In early February, 47 of our students participated in the American Mathematics Competition. The AMC is a contest given worldwide to the top math students. Congratulations to all that participated.
During the first weekend of March, five of our juniors (Aaron Angress, Paul Gomes, Jackie Harkins, Arielle Mule, and Steven Wilcken) formed a team and took on the Mega Math Challenge. The challenge is a math modeling competition, this year the topic was the alarming trends in Vaping. The team is presented with the problem and has 14 hours to complete a formal research paper. The paper is in the judging stage. Good luck team.
Most recently, more than 200 students participated in the Suffolk County Mathematics Teacher’s Association Contest. Congratulations to all that participated. The scores have been forwarded to the contest coordinator and soon we will see who placed in Suffolk County.
