Twin Towns
Town Twinning is a formal agreement between communities in different countries to promote social and cultural bonds or common interests. Twin or Twinned Towns are also known by such terms as Partner(ship) Towns, Friendship Towns and Sister Cities. Whilst many relationships are active and fruitful, some have proved less so, which may be a risk where a partner town takes on multiple commitments, or the relationship is too one-sided.
In Ghana, the term 'twin towns' may also refer to a connurbation or administrative union within the country, such as Kete Krachi or Sekondi-Takoradi.
On this page are listed cities, towns and villages which have known international twinning arrangements with cities, towns or villages in Ghana. Not listed here are more general arrangements with districts in Ghana, e.g. York, UK, with Fanteakwa District, Ghana, and Dolton, USA, with Kadjebi District, Ghana.
The files below list evidence of commitment for each twinning.
