That the general organization of
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.,
pursuant to and by virtue of its authority
does hereby order, grant, ordain, and establish
a Chapter of the said general organization of the
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., said Chapter known as
Gamma Gamma Lambda, located in Greenville,
South Carolina on August 24, 1941."
Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter was chartered on August 24, 1941 with the following brothers:

Bro. Douglass W. Greene
Bro. L. W. Long
Bro. Roscoe Singleton
Bro. H. S. Smiley
Bro. C. A. Williams, Jr.
The Chapter was chartered as the third Alumni Chapter in SC under the Fraternal administration of Bro. Ray W. Logan, 16th General President and Bro. Jos. H.B. Evans, General Secretary. For more than seventy years, and under the Umbrella of the National Organization, Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter set as her objective to carry out the mandates of "Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind".
From the ranks of Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter, has come several leaders in Alpha at the Area, Cluster, District, and Regional levels. including the first South Carolina State Director of Alpha Phi Alpha, the Late Brother. Luke H. Chatman. Gamma Gamma Lambda sponsored or co-sponsored several programs for the good of the community including the following:

Gamma Gamma Lambda is a proud member of the local National PanHellenic Council, Greenville Urban League, and makes contributions to the MLK, Jr. Memorial Foundation, NAACP, Urban League, Maudlin Chamber of Commence, Phillis Wheatley Community Center of Greenville, Multicultural Center of Greenville, United Negro College Fund, and March of Dimes.In Fraternal activity, the Chapter has hosted several Area Membership Intake Clusters, District (State) Conferences, and even 1996 Southern Regional Conventionof Alpha Phi Alpha. Several social activites to include annual Christmas and Valentine Parties and an annual Chapter Retreat and Cookout.
The Chapter has for more than twenty-five years coordinated and given the Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship which last year gave three $3,000.00 scholarship ($750 for four years), and has given more than $56,000 in scholarships to worthy local high school students
