Last Push for March for Babies - This Saturday...

Greenville, South Carolina - As we are only 5 days away from our march this Saturday, I am asking for you make a last push for funding for your March of Dimes effort. The Walk is THIS Saturday starting at 9 AM and we are only just above 50% of our goal. The On-line fundraising is the easiest method for raising money. Setting up an account takes less than 5 minutes and allows you to reach a much larger audience using emails & social media.

If you have not done so already, please visit www.marchforbabies.org/alphaphialpha to locate our chapter team and set up your personal March for Babies account. The March for Babies website provides fundraising tools and resources to assist you with reaching your fundraising goals. If you are not using the on-line tools (why?) then you are strongly encouraged to turn in your funds, on Bank Day which is this Wednesday (April 24th) at TD Bank Building on Main street from 9AM -4 PM. When you turn in your funds, be sure to indicate you are on the Alpha Phi Alpha - Gamma Gamma Lambda Team. Bank Day is a great option to use, and will avoid you needing to wait in line on Saturday. See some further information about the Day below)

I have included some information about the walk for your reference, and we have more information about our tailgate spot on Friday once we setup.

We are in the final days of the campaign and I know that you have been working so hard – please keep pushing – people can raise money fast using the online system – we had a team sign up on Friday and they already have 14 walkers registered and have $200 online – simply by sending an email out with their page link- I can help you with this – call me, Lindsay, or Brantley at 235-8576- we can walk you through the steps! EASY and LUCRATIVE!!!!! Remind all of your team members that babies are counting on us. AND remember- every $100 someone raises – they are entered to win GAS FOR A YEAR FROM SPINX!!!!

We are projecting to be down financially this year. Anything you can do to help – will make a big difference.

If you've already done these things once...do them again...everyone needs reminding and the closer we get to the walk the more urgent the message!

A Few Days left until bank day! Get Excited! All teams- please bring the money you raise – it is a safe environment for us and you do not have to register on walk day!

WALK DAY INFORMATION

Entering Greenville Tech

You can only enter through the main entrance off of Pleasantburg Drive. All other exits will be closed.

ParkingWill be on campus – I would encourage you to get to the site at 8:15 so that you get a good parking spot!

TailgatingAny team can tail gate- set up a tent, a banner or a picnic site for your family, school or company. You can set up on Friday ( after 1:00) or on Saturday morning (7:00 am-8:00 am). If you set up Saturday morning or need to drop off items Saturday morning- you will need a tailgate pass ( pick up at bank day). March of Dimes Staff will be on site both of these days and can help direct you.

Pre-Walk Program

· We will have live music courtesy of WINE DOWN! Check them out at http://www.reverbnation.com/winedown .

· Come meet your favorite tv emcees- Kimberly Kelly, Jack Roper and Christy Henderson ( NICE WEATHER- please Christy).

· Pre-walk aerobics

· Presentation of Colors by Blue Ridge High School

· SOME OF THE AWARDS WILL BE ANNOUNCED Pre-walk

· Visit with our County Ambassadors – The Dewberrysand The Anticis

· Free giveaways from the stage!

FOODBefore the walk

In the morning, Spinx will be providing their FRESH ON THE GO fruit cups along with Milk and Coffee. This will be in the Spinx Trailer.

Publix will have bananas and orange juice and this will be set up at the food tables.

After the walk

A Hot Dog lunch will be provided by Publix! YUM!

TCBY will also be on hand giving away free frozen yogurt.

Some of the awards will be announced after the walk!

Registration

We will have a registration table open for Family teams ( if you are a family team- you will get a separate email about this).

Corporate Teams and Individual walkers will register under the Registration Tent ( near the stage). Only people needing to turn in money – need to register. REMEMBER – BANK DAY IS IDEAL- April 24^th!

T-shirtsIf you have team members who raised $200 or more to earn the March of Dimes T-shirt – these can be picked up at BANK DAY or on walk day under the registration tent.

If you are not doing a team shirt and would like to purchase a March of Dimes shirt- we will have a limited number of large and x-large shirts from previous years for sale. These will be $5-$15.

The Route

· The walk is 4.5 miles long. Find the map attached!

· We will have the POOP vans along the walk route picking up people who can not or do not want to walk the entire route. They will bring you back to the start line.

· There will be three checkpoint stations along the route- Thanks to Spinx and Walmart for providing these stations- you will be able to get water and FUN at these stops!

· There will be port-a-potties along the route for your convenience.

· Strollers are welcome

· Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash! DOGS LOVE BABIES TOO!

FUN

· We will have an obstacle course and 2 bounce houses for the children to play in courtesy of the Greenville Rec. Dept.

· We will have face painting and chalk drawing

· We will have complimentary massages on site for all!

· Fire Truck and the Fire Safety house

· Macys will be onsite giving away gift cards!

· Lowes will be on hand helping children make bird houses!

· Lots of Cartoon Characters

· Enjoy the live music from the band – Wine Down – This is a an all-star five piece band, playing Blues/Rock/R&B/Soul/Jazz.Check them out athttp://www.reverbnation.com/winedown - they are super awesome!
