Chicago, IL- Gamma Gamma Lambda Delegate are representing the Chapter at the National Convention. Bros. Clark, Smith and Weston gathered information and casted votes in the sessions. We are up to Saturday but here are some highlights of the Convention so far.
Public Program was on Wednesday night, with Bro. Tim Reid as host, featured performances by Jennifer Holiday (who brought the home down). Awards were given to Bro. Darryl Matthews, Jerry Butler, Daniel Paul Amos, Earl Graves, Jesse Jackson, Lerone Bennett, Jr., Marian Wright Edelman, Sen. Richard Buress, Roland Martin, Bernard Lafayette, Jr. Rev. C.T Vivian.
Thursday Night featured a private "free to all registrants" Concert with Grammy Award winning artist Gerald Alright and Supergroup, En Vogue. It featured an appearance by the "Children from Good Times". Sponsored by Exxon Mobile.
Speaker for Friday's session include Dr. Freeman Hrabowski (Life Membership Breakfast), Rev. Al Sharpton (Guest Speaker at the Business Session), Dr. Joseph Lowery (Memorial Service)
General President Elections were on Friday with four candidates: Brothers Derrick Smothers, Cecil Howard, Mark Tillman, and Kenneth Bishop. the two winners will proceed on to the year-long campaign ending with a mail-in vote in April.
Friday night featured Miss Black & Gold Pageant and Sprite-off Stepshow.
