Greenville, South Carolina - Manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind have always been the efforts of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and of the Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter (GGL) here in Greenville. The Luke H. Chatman Memorial Scholarship which was named in honor of one of GGL’s most prestigious members is given each year to High School Students in Greenville County who excel in scholastic, extracurricular, and community activities.
Isaiah Ramel Hicks, GGL’s 2012 scholarship recipient, embodies these characteristics and much more. He currently attends Woodmont High were he maintains a 3.68 GPA and ranks 69 of 320 students in his senior class. What makes Ramel so unique is that he has been able to excel in all aspects of his life despite adversity and many hardships. Ramel’s character is one of great humility and respect something that will carry him far in life. This fall Ramel plans to attend Costal Carolina University for three years then transfer to Clemson University where he will pursue a degree in Construction Engineering. Ramel is a very bright an intelligent individual who’s future is promising.
The Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter looks forward to a lifelong relationship with Ramel and is committed to helping him and others within the community.
