CLEMSON, South Carolina — Clemson University has selected Harry E. Johnson Sr., president and CEO of the Martin Luther King Memorial Foundation, as the keynote speaker for its 30th Annual MLK Commemorative Service Jan. 17.
Under Johnson’s leadership, the foundation raised more than $117 million to build the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington, D.C., which is being dedicated this Sunday. Johnson has led the MLK Memorial Foundation since 2002. He is a partner with the Law Office of Glen and Johnson in Washington. From 2001 to 2004, he was national president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Johnson graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1977 with a bachelor's in political science. He has completed graduate studies in public administration at Washington University in St. Louis and earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston.
