Se desempeña actualmente como Investigador Superior del CONICET. Tiene interés en la ecología del comportamiento de parasitoides y la ecología de poblaciones (incluyendo invasiones biológicas) de insectos forestales en general. Ha completado investigaciones post-doctorales en la Universite Claude Bernard, Lyon 1 (Francia) y ha desarrollado actividades de investigación en el School of Biological Sciences, University of Wales (Cardiff, UK) y el North Eastern Research Station, Forest Service (West Virginia, USA) como becario Fulbright. Juan fue Editor en Jefe para el International Journal of Pest Management desde 2014  y hasta 2020 (IF 2017: 1,090), editor asociado de Journal of Applied Ecology desde 2017 hasta 2020 ( IF 2018: 5,78) y es miembro del comité editorial de Psyche (Cambridge Entomological Club). Actualmente se desempeña como único Editor en Jefe de Ecological Applications (IF 2021: 6,10), organo oficial de la Ecological Society of America. Ha publicado más de 130 artículos en revistas nacionales e internacionales con referato y numerosos artículos técnicos y de divulgación. Ha actuado en comisiones de pares evaluadores de becas y subsidios  para el CONICET, FONCyT y el Ministerio de Agroindustria. Desde 2015, es Profesor Asociado Regular del Depto de Ecologia del CRUB, Universidad Nacional del Comahue dictando los cursos de "Ecologia del Comportamiento"  y "Ecologia de Poblaciones" . Desde 2014 se desempeña como docente de la Maestría en Gestión Sanitaria de la Universidad San Juan Bosco y desde 2017 es miembro regular (por concurso) de la comisión de doctorado del CRUB, Universidad Nacional del Comahue. Es además coordinador del grupo de trabajo 7.03.05 - ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF BARK AND WOOD BORING INSECTS de IUFRO desde 2018.

 

Is the current team leader. He is a full time researcher sponsored by CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y Tecnicas de Argentina), interested in the behavioural ecology of parasitoids and the population (including invasion) ecology of forest insects. He has carried out post-doctoral work at the Universite Claude Bernard, Lyon 1- France and has spent some time at the School of Biological Sciences (University of Wales, Cardiff) and at the North Eastern Research Station, Forest Service (Morgantown, West Virginia) as a Fulbright scholar.  Juan has been  Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Pest Management since 2014 (IF 2017:1.090) and until 2021, Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Ecology (IF 2018:5. 78) also until 2021 and is a member of the editorial board of Psyche. As from January 2021, he is Editor-in-Chief of Ecological Applications (IF 2021: 6,10), a journal published by the Ecological Society of America. He has published more that 120 papers in national and international peer reviewed journals. He also serves on several peer-based committees for local and national funding bodies. Since 2015, Juan is Associate Professor at the Ecology Department of the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, teaching courses on Behavioural Ecology and Population Ecology to biology students and since 2017 a member of the PhD Committee at the Universidad Nacional del Comahue. Juan is also coordinator of  the IUFRO Working Party 7.03.05 - ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF BARK AND WOOD BORING INSECTS since 2018.
