A D Fero

The photo you are looking at of our grandfather Rev. Albert David Fero is a classic example of photograph of that era. By resting his hand on the table, he could remain steady for the slow camera speed while also projecting the dignity expected of a reverend in that era. He appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s, which makes the date of the photo between 1888 and 1893. That aligns with the time he would have been entering the ministry in 1891, which makes this picture possibly one taken upon graduation.

Albert left school and began working as a farm laboror on area farms.

1874 - 1884 - Early work information:   glass factory, drove mules on a barge on the Erie Canal near Clyde, steerman on the canal barges, coachman in Syracuse for the Nye family

Note:  in 1880, living with mother, sisters, and grandparents in Clyde, age 17

12 October 1884 --  experienced religious conversion in Syracuse, NY

First Weslyan Methodist Church, Syracuse

1887 - began study at Houghton Seminary, Houghton, Allegany Co, NY

1887 -  married first wife Lillian ?

1891 - graduated from seminary

6 Sept 1893 - married Pearl Winifred Strong on the parsonage lawn in East Rushford NY; pastor at Hamburg, NY

Pearl had graduated from Houghton Seminary in June, 1893

1916 - to give their children a Christian education, sold the farm and 

bought one at Houghton, NY.  Later they sold it and bought a house in the village of Houghton

1920 - Living in Forks township, village of Millview, Sullivan Co, PA, pastoring at Elkand Charge, Millview Weslyan Ministerium.  Census shows Mrs. Albert, Leroy D, Eudora H, Charles B, Mary E, Bertha R, Homer J, Gracia L, and Bernard S also living with A.D.

1930 -  Living in Indiana (Indiana Co) PA.  Census shows  A.D., Pearl, 

          Mary, Bertha, Homer, Gracia, and Barnard living at 1296 School St.

Began pastorages at Cameron Circuit, PA in 1893, Lockport Conference.
