Getting Started

As of March 2017, Google Classroom is available to all Google accounts. You do not have to be a G Suite for Education customer to have access to Google Classroom. Your G Suite Admin will need to configure your domain to allow personal accounts to join Classrooms within your domain. Information here.

To access Classroom, go to classroom.google.com or install the app from the Chrome Web Store.

If this is the first time you are accessing Classroom, you will be asked to select if you are a teacher or a student. Select Teacher.

Why are you being asked to choose? Teachers can both create classes and join classes. Students can only join classes.

I suggest teachers create one Classroom for each section or period they have. So if you have five sections of Algebra 1, you will create 5 Algebra 1 Classrooms. You can create just one Classroom for all of your sections. This is personal preference.
