This site contains maps of Great Britain based on the Ordnance Survey Open Data. Link to OS Open Data

The data were taken from the OS 1:50000 gazetteer. Note that unless otherwise stated on an individual map, the information in the maps was collected from the entire OS 1:50000 gazetteer, with no selection by type of map feature.

File names beginning with "b" contain data about places selected by name beginnings.

File names beginning with "c" contain data about places selected by name contents in any position.

File names beginning with "e" contain data about places selected by name endings.

Where colours represent positions of letters in a name, the convention is red = beginning, blue = end, green = anywhere.

Where dots of two different colours are shown for the same part of a name, this usually distinguishes between cases such as Frampton and Frampton Mansell, where names or parts of names ending with "ton" have been selected, or Kingston and Charlton Kings, where names or parts of names beginning with "Kings" have been selected.
