I first bought a 1958 MG Magnette while a student at U.C. Davis in the spring of 1967. But later that summer I bought a 1958 MGA roadster, so I sold the Magnette for money I needed for school. Before I was drafted into the US Army in Jan. 1969, I rebuilt the motor and painted the MGA maroon. While in the Army, I drove the MGA from Sacramento, Ca. to FT.Hood, Texas in July 1969 where I shortly there after wrecked it. I bought a MGA body that I found on a farm to salvage what I could from my 58 and put into the other MG. I drove the car back to Calif. in Jan. 1970 and gave it to my stepbrother, because I was being sent overseas. He drove the car to college where it was voted worst looking car on campus. It had parts that were peeling red paint, and others that were nice maroon, and a few bullet holes from being on a farm. I loved that car, so I had to get another MGA.
