Sold my 1947 Invader 7/2022
Found this 10' trailer at the old Sunrise Drive-in Theater property in Fair Oaks, CA in 2002. It is a Rolling Homes Trailers, Invader No. 47-2-128 made by the Aircraft Products Co. of Los Angeles, CA.
I believe it to be a 1947, model 2, serial number 128.
As found, Sept. 2002
Had been sitting since 1951
After putting on new tires, got the Invader home. Only a half mile journey.
Original galley area and rotted floor around the door
Interior before restoration
Rolling Homes Invader Research and Information
When first researching Rolling Homes Trailers, I found no information on Aircraft Products Co. of Los Angeles. I did find photographer, Doug Keister's website with the following photo that he took of an Invader # 47-2-273 located at a nursery in San Diego, CA. Doug stated in his website that the Invader was produced as housing for the migrant labor force after WWII. Thus, the Invader was build with a high ceiling and no windows on the sides so they could be placed close together.
See Doug's photos of trailers here
Rolling Homes Trailers by Aircraft Products Co. of Los Angeles, Ca. is not to be confused with Rolling Home, Ltd of Canada that produced trailers starting in 1956, or Rollohome Trailer Coach Co. of Wisconsin, or Rollin Home, Illinois.
My 47 Invader Restored
I started restoring my Invader after I retired in 2004. Gutted the interior and started some work in 2005. Took a break on the project to do a house remodel and then the Vespa and MGA restoration. Finally got back to the Invader in the summer of 2014.
