The Prophetic Books are divided between the Major and Minor Prophets. The terms "major" and "minor" are meant to describe their length and the importance of their message. The longer prophetic books of the Old Testament are called "Major Prophets" and are considerably more lengthy writings. In the Hebrew Bible there were twelve smaller books bundled as one called the "Twelve" or "Nevi'im" in Hebrew. The Christian Bible presents these twelve as separate books and calls them the "Minor Prophets".
