17Mtr Wide Spaced 2 Element Yagi Optimised With Manna Gal
I have recently been playing with the free antenna modeling program MMANA-Gal Basic V.3.0.0.31 By
Makoto Mori JE3HHT, Alexander Shewelew DL1PBD, Igor Gontcharenko DL2KQ.
An excellent book has just been published by the RSGB by Steve Nicholes G0KYA tiltled an introduction to Antenna modelling , as the title suggest this is a basic how to get started guide and is very good and will get you started in mmanna - gal.
So, here is a modelled version of my 17mtr 2 element driver reflector array with 50 ohm direct feed at 8.8Mtr.
The basic construction of the antenna is as follows,
Boom = 30X30 aluminium box section.
Element supports = 4mtr fibre fishing poles.
Element material = 1mm stainless steel mig wire.
I have used a simple split dipole wide spaced design to present a resonable match close to 50 ohms at the feed point.
A Hy-gain BN-86 ferrite 1.1 current balun is used to transform the unbalanced feedline ( coax ) to balanced.
Mmana-Gal Geometry at 8.8Mtr above ground
Wire No 1 is the reflector, length 8.210 mtr
Wire No 2 is the driven element, 7.940 mtr
Element spacing 2.240 mtr
