Well it has been a while since my last blog. We have seen the numbers drop and also some changes in personal. However one thing hasn't changed and that's the trip itself. So off to Toc this year where we hope the air is going to be clear. A few are driving up or down depending on where you live. I have to say that a trip involving driving for approx 16 hours to get there requires some mention. Not sure though if they missed the plane so to speak.
Safe travel everyone. There is one thing I suspect. Since it has been so long between blogs I am doing this and no one will read it. Never mind I have just filled in a bit if time.
Check out the ARCHIVE for older news

About to start so get your stories in about who has done what during their game or the one I tell could well differ from the reality.
21st June
Well after an extended period of time I am back up and running again. It has been some ride being retired and then sorting out technology. In the time I have been away others have to anf yet others are going so happy travelling to those that are going and welcome back to those who have been.
Now for golf news. Well that will have to wait now as I have a golf meeting to go to and time doesn't allow to post scores now but when i am back it will. The purpose though of this is to gauge who has looked at this site in the last 3 hours. If you have please send me an email . As i mentioned in my post on the 27th March I did ask for feed back. I got one reply straight away and one other when the said person arrived back from holiday. 2 out of 30 odd isn't a good percentage. For those mathematical minds it is less than 7%.
Hear from you soon or you will hear from me.
Cheers Vinnie

It has been very remiss of me. Since I got back I have basically been holidaying from this site and as yuo can see no news has been put up. I am not sure how many access this site as no one has given me a burst for not having recorded anything. If you can send an email, it will give me an indication of how many still want it to continue. Can not guarantee a reply though as have been having issues with the computer. By the way I am back over again in May and playing up in Mildura so I hope some can make the trip. Cheers

Well my last report so it will be short and sweat. Everyone who is going have finalized their preparation and it's bring on Corowa. Backhoe is looking to improve after his rounds at Coolangatta which were 94, 78, 82 & 72. Mayor at Stanthorpe flexed his muscles hitting them long & straight yes thats right for 78 & 74. Dagwood just hit them straight at Keperra for 71. Wally took on Carbrook and lost with an 83 before improving by 10 shots at Ashgrove for 73. Moody just went out at Coolangatta for a 78. Burger probably wants to come now after his Ashgrove games of 70 & 73. Donuts is another not coming but wants to. 76 at Noosa before 75 & 74 at Maroochy. Biscut with 76 & 72 at Cairns is in limbo. Now the one who was fairing OK, The Claw, got thumped at Thiristane with an 86. He made a mad dash back to Devonport to get his head back in the right space after that and went OK but it could have shaken him. For the record he had 74, 74 & 78. Army had to buy the drinks for Vinnie with his 74 beaten by Vinnies 71. Then the next round it was Army 73 Vinnie N/A but 32 points. So we are two weeks three days away and as I have mentioned in an earlier piece I am going on holiday for the rest of this month basically so that's it. Till we meet E Noho Ra
24th Jan
Change of format this week. We are going with nett scores. To start with we will use the Lands day results from Virginia. The frogs were well represented and in fact they led the field ... and tailed it. Leading the charge and tied at the top were Plugger & Moody with 68's. Then in ascending order Hoppy 72, Sumo 75, Chopper 77, Rodent 78, King Kong 79, Squeaky 80, Botllo 83 & Dinky 91. That is correct
Now we move onto others and Mayor pops up 3 times at Stanthorpe for 74 , 75 and an oop;s 84. Still he is still in the 80's. Dagwood also got to 80 on his return to the game at Keperra. Backhoe followed suit at Coolangatta with an 80. Another to have a nett in the 80's was The Claw. He had an 85 at Launceston but rebounded nicely at Devornport with a 74 before a meritorious 67. Perhaps the Player of the week and one who should know that this will drop his handicap was Chelsea. He had a 64 at Keperra. Now Mr Handicapper remember this. Wally & Burger continue their rivalry at Ashgrove and neither likes to lose. However on this occasion where both performed admirably Wally prevailed with a 65 to Burgers 66. They are not coming more is the pitty so they can go out there tear up the course. Plugger couldn't back up his Lands score but a 70 at Keperra isn't to bad an effort. Even a 71 for his next round was OK but a 76 spoiled the party. Moody unfortunately emulated Plugger"s 76 and no winners prize. Donuts had a real mixed bag. All at Maroochy for a 77, 70, 75 and 74.Finally Army went 72 & 75 at Ngamotu and Vinnie scrambled a 67 at the same course. So next week will be it, maybe and then just 2 weeks to go.

The said player caught sampling sponsors product actually played at Twin Waters. Rather than name and shame him, he played with two other frogs at Twin waters lately. There was Bottlo 90 Plugger 95 and Squeaky 104. Plugger got in another round at Keperra and played slightly worse for a 100. Backhoe is getting in some practice at Coolangatta and isn't unfortunately going in the right direction. His rounds were 102 & 103 but he told me by the time Corowa comes around he will be fine. Mayor is back to one round a week to keep his sanity. A well compiled 93 at Stanthorpe helps, Two who look like they are missing Corowa but are still legends are Wally & Burger. They played together as per normal at Ashgrove where Burger prevailed. A 98 to Wally's 103. Then Burger went out the next day and shot 90 to rattle the leader board. Unfortunately Wally went to Wynnum and 106 later walked off the 18th.
Now Melbourne had a couple of visitors. One from Chinchilla GR81 and one from Kiwi Land Army. They played the Dunes and they tied both shooting 84's. Grumpy caught up to both.
Biscut continues his improvement with a solid 82 around Cairns. Now another to improve is The Claw. His rounds at Devonport were 81 81 & 80. I have said it before but he could be a dark horse. Actually he can't because he has red hair. Vinnie had a stroke of luck in his round and shot a 77. Didn't quite make it number one but was runner up on the day. So we are now within 5 weeks of kick off. I will not be doing the news on the 7th Feb as I will be away until the 26th so only two more to go. Good golfing everyone.
10th Jan
As the number of days dwindle until Corowa so do the numbers playing. That is the recorded players. I have it on good authority though that there are some out there who are in training and have been for a little time. One even went over to the Fiji Open to see how the pro's do it. However his best effort was in driving the booze cart and they say he was like a pro doing that. Was stopped under a palm tree sampling the product. Then he went to the PGA as a scorer. Again he was caught in a tent sampling products. He should watch them actually hit shots however you have to give him a 10 for effort.
Now back to the matter at hand and that is those who front up each week and put up a score on Golf Link. Wally put up one at Oxley and his 108 showed it is a tough course. He then went back to Ashgrove where he shot a 94 before slipping back to another over ton of 102. To top it off Burger who was playing with Wally also shot a 102 so it was off to the clubrooms for teas all round. Mayor suffered from heat stroke in his two rounds at Stanthorpe. He had a 100 & 102. He said it was like being in an oven out there. Then we had Backhoe out at Coolangatta recording a 100. Seems that the heat is having an effect on players. But there are exceptions and that has to be Plugger. As the planning is now almost finished the weight has come off his shoulders and his 85 at Keperra showed that. Only one person better on the day than him. Donuts with an 83 at Maroochy featured but not as high up as Plugger. Then we have Army who has come into a rich vain of form. His even par 71 at Ngamotu not quite good enough for the overall gross but certainly his stabbies took him to the top. Then a 77 followed by a 78 and what do you know, he drops in handicap. Vinnie with an 83 goes out and well deserved. The Claw has a habbit from time to time of shoting either ascending or descending rounds. This time at Devonport it was ascending. 82, 83 & 84. Biscut did the same at Cairns. 87 , 88 and then N/A at Mirage. Denzo just played Cairns for his 92 and luckily enough he wasn't playing with Biscut. However he still bought the drinks as part of the losing pair.
Bye for now.
2nd Jan 18
Happy New Year and I hope everyone enjoyed the festive season. I notice that on the 29th of this month the GR81 has a birthday. So we hope he enjoys the day.
Now although it is two weeks ago since I last posted anything up nothing much has changed in the way of games played. Seems the same old same old. WE are all getting older.
So we start with Army today. He has been stuck on the same number for 3 rounds now and is beginning to think it is ground hog day. 80 each round at Ngamotu. Another to remain stuck was Backhoe. A pair of 98's at Coolangatta. To top it off Donuts also couldn't improve or get worse. At Maroochy a pair of 83's. At least they are consistent. Mayor on the other hand certainly didn't remain that. His 105 was followed up by a 95 at Stanthorpe so he was more than happy. Denzo was playing his normal round with Biscut at Cairns and took no prisoners. Denz 86 Biscut 88. Biscut called it quits after that but Denzo didn't and was rewarded with rounds of 84 & 83 so he is going the right way, down. The Claw did the same thing at Devonport. 3 rounds in descending order. 84, 81 & 80. Only 3 Keperra players out lately. Dagwood once with 108 and again not his best. Plugger on the other hand played an average round of 93 before slotting in an 86 and mentioned in the honors of the day. Chelsea after watching the Adelaide test got in a round of 90. He was still suffering the after effects of his night out after the test. Our old mate Wally is still showing his stamina. 3 rounds at Ashgrove for 97 , 95 & 92. Vinnie brings up the rear and his 4 rounds were the most played. Rounds of 78 & 84 at Ngamotu 81 at Westown and 82 at Inglewood. How time flies and only 7 weeks out.
20th Dec
A very Merry Xmas to you all. Santa is nearly here and those who have been playing golf regularly may need some lessons so these is a thought for a Xmas present. Vinnie is in need of a putting lesson. 5 three putts and numerous missed short putts for two in his round of 86 at Ngamotu. Army on the other hand can probably give him them as his two rounds have been 76 & 78 at Ngamotu. Another who can hand out a lesson is The Claw who has had rounds of 75 & 76 at Devonport and is showing he will be a big threat at Corowa. Mind you he is rooming with Bottlo so I think sleep will be out the window. Denzo visited Paradise Palms and when he walked off he had posted a solid 100. However the Ashes are safe in the hands of Steve Smith and he hasn't been called on him to open the innings. Also pushing past the ton was Mayor. His first round at Toowoomba and second round at Stanthorpe both yielded 101"s but he hasn't received a call up either. Donuts was out in the 80's. His first round of 84 at Maroochy and next of 82 at Twin Waters. Then those out in the 90's were Dagwood with 99 at Keperra and the odd couple of Wally & Burger who enjoyed each other company at Ashgrove where only 1 shot separated them. Burger 94 Wally 95. Next report will be in two weeks. Next week I am involved in a 3 day tournament where the same rules apply as they do on Frog trips. Golf then enjoyment and I will not be able to type. Have a good one. Yaluu

Getting closer every week until Corowa and still numbers don't reflect those who are playing. I think that every round played should show and if they don't then those players should shout a round of drinks. Well to pensioners anyway and I will be one of those when we get to Corowa.
Now for those who have a golf link number. The Claw starts us off this week. He was a model of consistency at Devonport over three round with an 84 followed by two 82's. Wally was also consistent with 100 at Ashgrove before improving to 99 at Gailes. Unfortunately Burger played at Ashgrove with him and his 95 was good enough for the win. He didn't get an invite to Gailes so played Ashgrove again but without that rivalry he didn't score as well and finished with a 98. Also recording a 98 was Backhoe at Coolangatta and then he had a 95 before recording a N/A for his third round. He lost to Moody's 91 and I am unreliably informed that Moody wasn't happy about his game. That doesn't sound like Moody not to be happy about his golf. Razor was out for his monthly round and like Moody he scored a well compiled 91. He mentioned that work has been so hectic that he was lucky to get a round in. I would have some sort of excuse as well Razor. Dagwood was the only Keperra player to get a round in and what a round. Well 101 is something he doesn't do often. He is better than that. Maroochy saw Donuts enter the competition but as of late it is mainly a donation and it turned out that way. His 88 bought him no joy in the comp and to make matters worse he paid for the drinks as well. Army hit a vain of form and the jackpot as well on Saturday. His 74 was second gross. Then he followed up today with an 81 so the vain ran out. Vinnie recorded an 82 on Saturday but then he hit a vain on Sunday. A 75 gross saw him pick up a ham for 4th. Now he is waiting to see if that vain continues.
Now back to my first comment, drinks for pensioners at Corowa. 10 weeks and counting.
6th Dec
Well the numbers increased this week by 1, Best of these was Biscut who cut a fine figure as he went up to collect his prize in Cairns. His 77 of the stick elevated him to the number 1 spot. Unfortunately Denzo backed up his bad round last week with an even worse number this week 93 meant he did the dreaded walk to the bar, frequently.Army did OK with his 78 at Ngamotu but didn't feature in the money and his 80 was also off the pace. Talking of off the pace Vinnie lost both days with rounds of 88 at Thames and 87 at Ngamotu. His pocket is a lot lighter now.The Claw went OK at Devonport without setting the world on fire, His 85 was followed by an 80 but no cigar. Actually no one from now on tore up the course. Take Backhoe and his 90 at Coolangatta. Could have been better.Wally and Burger found time for a game at Ashgrove and it was Wally 99 and Burger 102. Still the more you play the better you get, so they say. Donuts at Maroochy had an 88 and like Vinnie is trying to work out how this happened..Perhaps Pluggers 98 at Keperra meant he paid up like others. Last but not least is Mayor and his venture to his home course Stanthorpe. Nothing spectacular just a 94. So that is it.
30th Nov
A little thin on numbers this week. To many suffering from the heat. One though is only suffering from the heat he created. Biscut took exception to losing to Denzo two weeks on end so put in an effort and it paid off. His 80 around Cairns meant Denzo's wins were a distant past. For the record Denzo shot 93. He told me that Biscut stayed on longer than he normally does. Donuts only suffered through his golf. He had 85 & 90 around Maroochy before heading to Noosa Springs only to shot 95. Backhoe plays at a cool place Coolangatta that is but his score was anything but. 105 had him thinking about practice. It was only a thought though for a few seconds then off to the bar for refreshments. The Claw like Donuts got in 3 rounds. His 84's at Devonport were 4 shots better than his 88 at Longford. He is still scratching his head.Razor got in his one game a month and was only two shots behind Claw with his 86. Now he is waiting for Xmas for his next round.Plugger is starting to feel the effects of organizing. Well Bottlo tells me he is. Anyway playing at Keperra he start well but slipped at the end and the result a 92. Was promising though. Mayor has started to think about other things as his 94 around Stanthorpe should have been better so I was told but that is what we all say. Army playing at Ngamotu had rounds of 80 & 78 but finished down the field on both days. However he still finished better than Vinnie. Playing at Ngamotu first for an 84 before going to Manukorihi for a 79. His 39 stabbies was still 3 outside the last prize in the comp. For the record a guy on a 9 handicap shot a 3 under par. That's hot. Don't forget Corowa is coming up in 11 weeks. Just thought some one might like to know. Au revoir.
22nd Nov
Thought I would start with some results from a Lands day. The day at Keppera was stunning and to be fair there were some good scores as well. Squeaky got the ball rolling with 40 Stabbies and he streeted the field. King Kong put in a guest appearance and clocked up 38. Then the ever worrying Bottlo with 37 points. How can he fluctuate so much? Hoppy skipped along and had 36 . GR81 cruised in with 35 as did Plugger and Moody. He just couldn't rise to the occasion for a second week in a row. Flasher said the light was all wrong for good photography until some one pointed out he wasn't there to take photos he was there to play golf. Well 26 points showed he did play a lot. Rodent unfortunately had the same 26 points. He was along for the ride thought and didn't worry about it. Burger gave the golf a miss but participated in the after match drinks.
Then we have some others who can't play Lands days but do play some where. Army mixed it a little. He went to Fitzroy for 82 & 84 and then Westown for 82. Vinnie played Ngamotu for 85 then Fitzroy for 74. The Claw also mixed it a little. 83 at Penguin before going back to Devonport for 83 & 84. For a second week in a row Denzo smashed Biscut and enjoyed the spoils. Playing at Cairns it was 86 to 87. Donuts got out to Marooocy for an 85 and slim pickings. No he isn't a country singer. Burger, after missing Keperra played Ashgrove and shot 93. He was humble enough to say that Wally wouldn't have beaten him. Could have been true as Wally amassed 106 albeit at Keperra. Dagwood continues to play Keperra and showed he still has some game. A 92 was tidy. Plugger after scoring so well in the Lands day let himself down slightly on his next visit to Keperra. 100 and we will leave it at that. Mayor playing two rounds at Stanthorpe couldn't decide which way he was going to hit the ball. Left to right or right to left, he was just confused. His scores showed it. 97 then 103. Still wondering.
That's it for now.
15th Nov
Only 13 weeks to go until Corowa. At the moment there are plenty who are not playing and I think they are happy with their game. I know of one who is for sure. Moody played North Lakes and had 40 points and second prize. Can't have been many Lakes because he still had some balls left at the end,The Claw continues to pump out the rounds. All at Devonport for 83,85 & 89. Going the wrong way there Claw. Also heading in the wrong direction was Dagwood at Keperra but not badly. A 98 followed by a 99.However Wally takes the cake or in this instance the biggest reversal. His two games at Ashgrove were OK both 97 but then off to Oxley and well 111 shots late he crosses the line. Well he said it felt like a marathon. Plugger was quite delighted tp just get out at Keperra and his 36 points showed he isn't a burglar. Another in that catergory is Vinnie. His 83 at Ngamotu didn't bother the prize table. Army was also close but no cigar. An 80 followed by an 82 just left him middle of the pack.It is suprising how many can shot the same score but at different courses. Backhoe at Coolangatta and Burger at Ashgrove both shot 98's and Dagwoods as well. If you look back over the year plenty have done this.
Hopefully all is well with everyone and lets get out there. AFL is finished and summer has arrived. Well at least this week anyway. Cheers
8th Nov
Well the cup is over and so am I over the Irish side of my ancestry. Coming down here and taking the spoils. My grand father was a true blue Irishman.
Anyway next year is already on it's way.We had a bit of a reversal up in Cairns over the week. Normally Biscut sits back and lets Denzo buy the drinks but this week Denzo 85 Biscut 87 and well you could hear Denzo's scream of joy all over Aussie. He sat back and watched Biscut beat that well trodden path that he hadn't done for a while. They tell me that the carpet was worn out by the end of the night. Another to bask in glory was Mayor. He shot around Stanthorpe in a blistering 5 over par on the first nine before faultering a little on the back but still posted a well compiled 86 and thanks for coming everyone. Another to post a good score well at least for himself was Backhoe. He had a 94 which in his opinion was OK considering his last few rounds. I concur. The Claw had mixed fortunes. His 93 at Greens Beach was followed by an 83 at Devonport. I hear Green Beach is a murderous course. Crazy found The Dunes quite murderous as well as he hobbled around for a 101 before heading down the road to Rosebud where he faired a little better albeit a 98. Still he got out there. Seems to be a theme about tough courses or is it just an excuse. In Vinnies case it is. His 89 at Ngamotu contrasted to the 69 he had at Ngarawhahia. Have to confess that was an ambrose game and they got 10th. Army was exactly 10 shots better at Ngamotu with his 79 and that was only 11th prize. Well actually he didn't get one but if they did go down that he would have.Wally and Burger got together for a change at Ashgrove and played like two gentleman. Neither wanting to beat the other until the last hole where Burger sunk a 15 ft putt to beat Wally by a shot. 101 to 102. Burger said he was only trying to two putt but the hole got in the way with his first. Plugger rounds out those who played, excuse the pun and he wasn't really trying this week, the score shows it. His 95 was a mid field finish at Keperra. Well giddy up everyone or at least those who are going to play in the Lands day. Slan.
2nd Nov
What a difference a bit of sun makes. People come out of the wood work to play. Some played for 4 days on end, well one anyway. That was The Claw. He was on a road trip and he played Wynyard for 94, Ulverstone for 91 then Sheffield for 88 before returning to Devonport for an 88 then N/A. Not one breath of wind or a cloud in the sky. Donuts also strayed away from home and went to Pacific Harbour for a 90 before resuming at Maroochy where he had 91 & 96.To continue the theme of travel Wally ventured off to Wynnum where he had an uninspiring game for 112 before going back to the safer Ashgrove scoring 101 & 104. The one thing these three have in common is that not one of them told me how disappointed they were with their games..Mayor played over three days at Stanthorpe and scored in descending order of 99 98 & 97. Now shows the value of practice. Plugger also went in the same direction at Keperra with rounds of 99 & 91. Denzo on the other hand went the other way at Cairns and shot 87 & 91. Also playing at Cairns and in a better frame was Biscut as he shot an 85 and as always when you win sat back and relaxed.Razor made a guest appearance at Devonport and his 86 wasn't all bad considering. He still kicked The Claw. Burger was left to fend for himself at Ashgrove on the day Wally went Wynnum and it showed that he really does miss the company as he shot a 97 then went straight home as he couldn't enjoy the spoils he would have had Wally been around. Dagwood got in a WE game at Keperra and his 93 was OK. Backhoe would have been happy to have that, as his 102 at Coolangatta still frustrates him as he knows he can play better. Army took last WE off but played yesterday for an 82. Vinnie didn't take the WE off and should have as his 84 saw him well down the leader board.
So that is it now until next week and by then we will all know the name of the winner of the Cup that stops two nations. Who Shot The Barman.

We have to congratulate Army on his 5/4 win in the Intermediate Club Champs. He was down 1 after 18 but his superior fitness came through. Moral of the story stay fit. There was a game played at Nudgee recently and 9 frogs fronted. The scores varied quite considerably in fact there was a 14 shot difference between Plugger who scored the best on 36 and his secretary Bottlo on 22. In between there we had GR81 on 32, Squeaky 31, Backhoe 30, Mayor 30, Moody 28 Rodent & Sumo on 27 then the gap to you know who. As if Mayor and Moody didn't have enough of each other they went off and played two rounds at Warwick. Mayor won both rounds and Moody said he hadn't seen Mayor hit the ball from the tee better but then he saw what he was able to do after that which wasn't good. So it went Mayor 94 & 93 Moody 98 & 102. Mayor never said anything about Moody's golf. Another to still have enough energy to play two rounds was Plugger. Unfortunately he couldn't continue his good run of form and he shot 94 & 99. Burger got out with out Wally at Ashgrove and I think he was happy that he wasn't there as his score may well have resulted in him shouting. For the record he had a 102. Biscut cut a swarth around Cairns as he was hacking his ball out of the long stuff. In the end his 87 reflected the trouble he got into. Another to play below par as far as ability is concerned was The Claw. At Devonport he shot a dismal 89. OK it rained and blew but he is still better than that. Vinnie scooted around Ngamotu with an 82 before going off to the Local where he watched both his province, in the semis, and the ABs lose. Still could have been worse. He could have lost at golf but he didn't. So that is it for the time being and I do appreciate the scores coming in Bottlo. Oh sorry was someone else so thanks to that person who will remain nameless. Cheers

Army has made the finals of the intermediate club finals. Will be played this Sunday so next week we will congratulate him. However he will need to improve on his round today. A 91 was not a good lead in. Biscut & Denzo continue to haunt Cairns and on this occasion the course won, They both recorded 88 but have promised to return and blow the lights out of it. The wind will do that for you both. The wind believe it or not was blowing at Stanthorpe when Mayor turned up. He blew out to a 104 excuse the pun. The Claw on the other hand drew brilliant conditions and while his 83 wasn't the best round he was satisfied with it.There is a course called Kooralbyn Valley and Donuts was out there playing. Must be a little easier than Maroochy as he shoot an 87.Wally and Burger have picked up where they left of and are playing together again. However Wally has extracted some revenge and his 93 bettered Burgers 98 so his smile was wider than normal. Burger was still smiling as he is back playing. It only leaves Backhoe now and he played as he always does at Coolangatta where he had a 90 before having a N/A. It is only 17 weeks and 4 days before Corowa in case you have forgotten.
Go the ABs or the Wallabies which ever you want. That's rugby for those who don't know.
10th Oct
Well I received some news about the Lands days. I now know why the scores are not being posted now. You see if they were, then there would be some embarrassed people and that is the last thing we need to have happen. However it is because the would be called burglars under any other circumstances.
Now to praise those who do put up scores every week or there abouts. First we have a three way tie. The Claw struck the ball really well at Devonport for a 76 and winner on the day. Not so good his second round of 87 though. Then we have Army who scored 74 for second gross but winner of the Stabie comp. Let it slip with an 82 in his next round. Then Plugger who's 88 was enough for winner on the day before he to like both before let it slip with a 101 in his next round. . Biscut was the next best with a 3rd spot with his round of 84 at Cairns. Also playing at Cairns was Denzo but he is struggling at the moment. His two rounds of 87 & 88 falling short of a podium finish. Donuts couldn't separate his two rounds. He had two 89's at Maroochy. Crazy had a painful round at The Dunes. He had a 90 and said if it wasn't for his lovely partner twisting his arm he would have stayed at home and mowed the lawns. Wally went off to McLeod where he didn't like the weather conditions which was reflected in his score of 102. He did like the after match function though.Another to do a road trip was Dagwood. He went off to Brible Golf course where he posted a reasonable 94.Backhoe also posted a 94 but his was at Coolangatta. Moody ,also at Coolangatta shot a107 but as he said he still had some balls left to play with. The water didn't get them all.Squeaky squeezed in a round between drives at Keperra and recorded a 95. He wasn't unhappy with that from what I was told. Last but not least was Mayor who stuck it out at Stanthorpe where he shot a 97 before ballooning out to a 103. Still he posted a score as did all the others above.. So with that it's goodbye from me and goodbye from him. Famous ending from what comedian? I could be wrong though.

Well I have to say the better team won on the day. I watched the first quarter and most of the last quarter and well the rest is history. The AFL Grand Final that is.Another team that was the best on the day was Plugger and Chelsea. Chelsea a 98 and Plugger an 88 but collectively they were unbeatable. Then to show that is wasn't just a one off Plugger played three days later and this time he shot an 85 and picked up top prize. Well done Plugger the rest take note it pays to practise.. Now there is also an extreme side to this frustrating game. Take The Claw for example. He got in three games at Devonport and well, look how he went. Started with an 83 so OK then a 78 and no one beat that on the day but out of the blue just when he thought he had it sorted a 91. Go figure. The Mayor went off to Beerwah which sounds like he had a few beers. However his score was OK with a 93. Think he had a beer afterward though. With Burger being back it has bought Wally back as well. Well at least for one game where he wasn't able to match Burger. Burger 94 Wally 100. Burger then making up for lost time got out again and recorded a 91 so he hasn't lost it. Bachhoe at his normal Coolangatta equalled Wallys score at Ashgrove. A 100 was better than his previous N/A. Donuts emerged and played Pelican Waters for a creditable 83 before slipping back with a 91 at Maroochy. Now someone has to talk to Denzo. He has done it again in scoring an 87 at Cairns. I think he should three putt if it means an 88. The bad luck will stop. Vinnie suffered another loss with his 85 so is considering giving up However he has had second thoughts so is back..Army on the other hand won his club champs game. He shot an 83 but more importantly he came back from being behind on the 16th to winning the last two to win.Go Army. Now I think there was a game for the Lands Social and surely we will get some news from that. After all there were 10 frogs playing. So that is it and roughly 19 weeks away from Corowa.
26th Sept
A big welcome back to Burger. He has made a come back after his surgery and just to show he hasn't lost his touch he shot a 97 at Ashgrove. Now that he is back he will only improve so watch out Corowa. Another who was away for a little while was Donuts. He came back to Maroochy where he blasted his way around for an 86. Unfortunately his formed dropped in his next round to the tune of 10 shots for you guessed it I suppose a 96. Chelsea has just gone on holiday as school is out and he skipped around Keperra with Squeaky & Plugger. He was in a jovial mood clowning around and shot a 94. That was enough to put Squeaky off as he shot a 101 but Pluggger knuckled down and produced a round that not only won him the daily prize but a few rounds off both Chelsea and Squeaky. That was an 88.Unfortunately the night before had an effect on him the next day as he decided to try his skill again, He walked off having recorded a 101. The other Keperra stalwart Dagwood probably wondered like Plugger how you can go from the 80's to over the ton. 108 to be precise. Thats golf for ya.We go south to Coolagatta now and Moody & Backhoe. Both would have raised their bat if they were playing cricket. To make it worse though they day was as pure as you could get it. Little wind clear blue sky. Backhoe's 102 beaten by Moody's 101. Still they went back to the bar and enjoyed the rest of the day on the deck. Backhoe thought he would improve next time out but his N/A indicates that wasn't so. Up north Mayor did a road trip. First port of call was Inglewood where he shot 100 then off to Woodford for a couple of rounds of 102 & 91 before back to Stanthorpe for a 97.Said he was exhausted on his return so he is going to have to toughen up for Corowa. Then we head to Tazzie where Razor finally got out for a game. He partnered The Claw in his only round and the scores were Razor 89 The Claw 83. Good enough for the 2 Ball B B runner up. Then The Claw went out for another and improved with an 81. Over the ditch Vinnie shot an 85 and lost his match play in the second round of club champs. Army also played his match and won with an 82. Means Vinnie and Army can't meet in the finals.
19th Sept
The weather has been having an effect right through out the world and it includes Devonport in Tassie. The Claw ventured out one sunny day and shot 85. However for his next two games he played in atrocious weather. After hitting 95 he thought it couldn't get worse. How wrong he was and after 98 shots he finished. A shattered man. Another to be on the wrong side of a good round was Moody. His 104 was not what he was aiming for especially seeing as how he conned Backhoe into a game and was trying to get a free drink at the end of it. To be fair Backhoe only just pipped him with a 97 but it was enough to have the last laugh. Plugger and Chelsea caught up for a round at Keperra and after they finished Chelsea had scored 87 to Pluggers 91 but more importantly Chelseas score was good enough to run third on the day. Plugger went out again a couple of days later but didn't score that well. His 94 was average for the day. However on that day Dagwood appeared and his 88 was good enough for top dog and how happy he was to. Plugger just sat quietly thinking if only. Mayor happened to front at Stanthorpe on a glorious day but unfortunately his golf didn't live up to it.A 95 left him, like Plugger, average on the day.Now Biscut & Denzo went out at Cairns for a round and then Denzo a few days later went out again. The only thing being he didn't improve. For the record Denzo recorded two 90s and Biscut had the same a 90. To finish off Army only got in one round last week. His 78 being enough to win the 4th spot. Vinnie also only got out once and his 83 was only good enough for ninth. So that is it. I see there is another Lands Golf day coming up and I think like the others we won't hear a thing. I reckon it is because there are some really good scores recorded so they are kept secret. Only a thought and it could be a conspiracy.
12th Sept
I think the countdown is on for Corowa. We had one frog go off and play there last week end. Crazy shot a 90 and said it will be in top condition when Feb rolls around, The Claw hearing it from Crazy went out and played 3 rounds at Devonport. First he has an 82 then an 81 and out off the blue a 91. Now I have to wonder did he need that 91 to counter the two good rounds or was he that bad? To be fair he isn't a burglar he just played badly. Denzo and Biscut managed to get in a game. Slow start for Biscut and 4 down after nine but then hit the after burners to beat Denzo. For the record Biscut 83 Denzo 90. It was a game of two halves for Denzo. A 40 then a 50. He then had another game but fared worse for a 96. Squeaky , Plugger and Dagwood teamed up again at Keperra. In a tight tussle they came out all square so in the true spirit of the game they just had a round each at the bar. Scores were Squeaky 100 Plugger 97 and Dagwood 96. Dagwood also had another round during the week for a 94.Coolangatta as I have said before is a lovely course and Backhoe just took in the sights as he played his way around this week After walking off the 18th he added his score and was surprised that he had had a 102. However that didn't bother him in the least as he just smelt the roses as they say. Thats the way you should play. Vinnie played the first round of the intermediate club champs match play. After being 5 up walking off the 12th he was lucky to win 2 up. But as say a wins a win.
Now we could get a score report from the Lands Social day if the latest retirey was able to get off the couch. He tells me that he doesn't do anything. I have to say that some said he never did anything when he was at work. I would not believe that of him but, Ka Kite Anu
6th Sept
All going well we will have a few frogs playing in the Lands Social day tomorrow.
Now for those who played during the last week. Army tops the list with 3 games, He started at Fitzroy for a 75 before an horrendous 90 at Ngamotu then a more respectable 83 at the same venue. Vinnie got in two rounds. An 82 at Fitzroy was followed by an 84 at Ngamotu and more important the winner of the beers both days from his opposition. Moody got in two rounds at Coonagatta along with Backhoe and they both recorded an N/A in one round before Moody played a blinder for an 88 and winner of the daily comp. Backhoe was more circumspect and had a 93, We have seen the return of Razor and not a bad score for someone who has had some time off. His 83 wasn't the best of the day although not far off. However he took delight in beating The Claw who shot 90 then the next day unfortunately shot a 91, Crazy went out once again at The Dunes but wasn't able to repeat his score of the week before. In an unfortunate twist of fate unlike the week before's brilliant sun shine this was played in terrible weather and the score was reflective of that. A 102 in the end. Then we have Biscut who again like Crazy played really well last week only to stumble this week. His 88 though shouldn't be sneezed at as he played Paradise Palms. If you have played it Paradise isn't exactly what it is. The Mayor turned his game around from last week as well only his game went the other way. His 90 being 13 shots better. Alas the next game back to a 99. Still broke the ton.Plugger took some time off sorting out Corewa and played Keperra where he shot a relaxed 98. Dagwood was able to get in a couple of games for 92 and then oops a 106 also at Keperra. So until next week that's it.
