29th Aug

We start with the game that Army & Vinnie played against a NZ rep golfer. Going into the last two holes, two down the two frogs showed how to fight. They won both holes to halve the match against an awesome opponent. Actually Army parred the 17th and birdied the 18th ........ but hey. it was a team effort. Army 82 and Vinnie 80. Now that that is out of the way we now get onto Backhoe who also showed some real fight. After shooting 99 in his first round of the week at Coolangatta he then went out and shot 92 before finishing with an 88 which just so happened to go one better than Army & Vinnie. He won the days comp. Another to get a win under his belt was Biscut. From an 87 last week to a 77 this week at Cairns and a winner on the day. Not so lucky was Denzo who came up against Biscut as he shot 91. However to make matters worse for Denzo he then went out twice more and shot the same number, 87. Talk about wanting to swap games. Cricket will be next. Moody has been out again at Coolangatta but he can not get his head around the course at the moment. He shot another 106 then was heard to say afterwards that if he can't beat that score next time he was going to play at another course. Good luck on your next round Moody as Coolangatta is a lovely course. The Claw if you look back at last weeks results shot a 79. Well 10 shots worse this week for his first round at Devonport before shooting an 86. He to is getting frustrated with his golf. That is normal for most of us by the way Claw. Wally is back to his wondering habits, they say old habits die hard. He went off to North Lakes for a game and it took it's toll on him. 111 shots to get around. Plugger was another to post a score in the 100's. However his 101 around Keperra wasn't all bad. Only 10 holes were he said. Mayor playing at Stanthorpe went two shots worse than Plugger. His 103 was disappointing but he handled it well. Some one who wasn't disappointed was Crazy. Playing at the well manicured course of Royal Burnley he blitzed around there in 78 only to be pipped for best gross by a training pro by 1 shot. But you guessed it he like Biscut and Backhoe he also enjoyed his moment at the top of the leader board for amatuers.

23rd Aug

Well it is the Devils number. Actually it is because it is 13 runs shy of a ton. So with that in mind we covered both the Pommie & Aussie numbers this week.. No one told Biscut about the superstition as he shot 87 in his match against Denzo. As luck would have it Denzo also shot 87 to halve his match before shooting 94, All games played around Cairns. Mayor didn't particularly like his 103 at Stanthorpe but said he would have to settle for it. Well Mayor I have to tell you when we have a bad round we all have to settle for it. So you are not on your own there, Plugger raised his bat at Keperra where he shot a 100 and is still wondering how that on such a fine day the golf didn't match, Obviously it did stay fine for a period of time as the following got in two rounds. The Claw playing out of Devonport started the ball rolling and he played really well. His 83 was followed by a 79 and now he is starting to feel better. We all do though Claw on fine days. Wally showed that he knows his way around Ashgrove as he was consistent with rounds of 94 & 93. Dagwood at Keperra was also around the same with 93 & 95. Then at Coolangatta Backhoe shot 95 & 90. So that is what fine weather produces, fine rounds. If the weather were fine here we would have the same but with the course closed on Saturday with greens totally under water we couldn't play. However it did clear on the Sunday where Vinnie was able to get a game in and shot 84. Army shot 86 and said afterwards that the new lakes on the course caught a few of his shots. These newly formed lakes can be up to your knees deep and cold. All in the wrong place as well, just short and in front of the greens or beside greens where there were only grass bunkers before.

So lets hope for a continued spell of fine weather and may you have luck with your golf. Remember that could be good or bad but it is luck.

16th Aug

There is a particular score that seems to pop up quite frequently. It is the one that the Australian (not quite right there Vinnie - It is actually the English who have a thing for 'Nelson" - the Aussies thing is 87 -can you work out why Vinnie?) cricketers don't like . It is 111 and Mayor had this at Stanthorpe. I must say Mayor that .we don't like it either so we commiserate with you. Crazy has been getting in some golf and played at Gunnamatta where he had a 99. He wasn't happy with that but in light of other scores around him he was in the top half so not to bad. Dagwood found the going hard at Keperra this week where he had a 103. Plugger also had the same conditions to play in and it reflected on his score as well. An even 100 was the best he could do. Backhoe had a round that he was OK with and one he wasn't. His 92 could have been better but said was OK but the 99 included to many putts. Now last week Denzo and Biscut took a day of work, although some one sajd they don't work and went off to have a round. Well talk about a turn a round. Denzo whipped Biscut, Denzo 87 Biscut 90. Denzo was so excited that he played again on the Saturday where he shot 92. Wally has settled back into Ashgrove where he had rounds of 99 & 97. Said he will be staying there for a while as it tires him with all the travelling. The Claw must be thinking about Corowa already and his handicap. An 86 was followed by a N/A at Devonport. To early for that Claw. Vinnie shot an 85 on Saturday and Army an 83 and both played at times like champions only for them to play like chumps as well.

Another addition to the golf link scores is Moody. He for those who have forgotten about him - now plays out of Coolangatta and has racked up scores of 106 and 94. So welcome aboard Moody. You can run but you can't hide now.

So now we are 6 months out, so let the fun begin. Oh sorry!! we should be having that anyway.

9th Aug

Seems like the weather was brilliant up in Cairns. Biscut & Denzo got out and played 3 games together. The scoring was great as well. Denzo shot rounds of 86, 86 & 85 and Biscut, the show off, went 82, 81 & 80. Denzo said that it hurt him having to pay up 3 times in a row. Another to play 3 rounds and shoot numbers in descending order was Plugger at Keperra. He went 104, 98 & 95 and while he didn't win anything he said getting the practise in helps. Of course it does Plugger, pro's do it all the time.Then to round it off The Claw was out at Devonport where he had 86 , 89 & 95. That 95 was played in storm condition so should be ignored. Vinnie also played in those same conditions and his 92 shouldn't be as he is playing poor golf. You may remember a guy called Crazy. Well he has popped his head up again first at Rosebud for a 96 then Devils Bend for a 97. He has nearly played as many games in 2 mths that he did in the whole of last year. Some how Dagwood got a new lease on life because he went out 4 times. He was a little up & down, excuse the pun, with rounds of 103, 96, 87 & 95 also at Keperra.

Those who got in 2 games were as follows. Backhoe at, where else but, Coolangatta for 98 & 103, Wally continues to wander with a round at Ashgrove for 93 before heading to Gailes for 109. Mayor got back on track after his Nelson with a 101 at Stanthorpe. Good come back Mayor. Squeaky playing at Keperra actually had a bet on with Mayor and the end result was, no winners or losers. He also had a 101. Rounding off we had Army playing at Ngamotu for an 84 in fine conditions. We still await the Lands Social golf results but it appears the person in charge has been tripping around watching AFL even if he has to fly to Melbourne. To much time on his hands and he still can't organise it. He needs to go back to work.

1st August

Well there has been activity around the traps and rather ironic that some score are identical yet miles apart. Lets start with Mayor who had one of those rounds, a Nelson no less 111 at City. Then up steps Wally at Pacific for a 111 before getting back to familiar territory of Ashgrove where he had a 95. Then playing at Coolangatta Backhoe recorded rounds of 97 & 99. Plugger playing at Keperra also shot 97 & 99. Then we have Squeaky playing with Plugger for one of those rounds and he shoots a 97. Not to be out done, at Ngamotu playing as a team, Army & Vinnie shot 82's. So I am not sure what is going on right now, co incidences or something more sinister! Dagwood played a couple of rounds but not with any of the other frogs and shot 95 & 93 at Keperra.. There were another two guys who got in a couple of rounds.The Claw playing at Devonport had up and down rounds. His up an 83 and down 90. Denzo was a little more consistent at Cairns where he had 87 & 86. Biscut also got in a round with Denzo and showed him how to play recording an 81.

So we have had two Lands golf days and no reports. I suspect that the person concerned can't do it as he will have to divulge his scores. That's it for now.

19th July

I trust that those who were lucky enough to go on the bus trip enjoyed themselves and behaved accordingly. We , who didn't go, will hopefully hear about the scoring.

Talking of scoring we had Wally out at Ashgrove where he went from 95 to 100 over his two rounds there and then off to Indooroopilly for a Nelson 111. Donuts also went on a scoring spree, 92 & 93 at Maroochy before hitting Noosa Srings only to shoot another 93. Backhoe playing at Coolangatta, a place that he knows like the back of his hands, shot 98 & 99. Actually he should use the GPS as he was spraying into places he said he didn't know were on the course. The Claw had a couple of contrasting rounds at Devonport. His first round of 94 was quickly forgotten the next day when he had an 80. To be fair he forgot what he did the day before altogether because of the nights events. Needless to say his head was spinning. Biscut also performed better than his last weeks game as he also shot an 80 around Cairns. Another to shot 80 was Army and this backed up his 76 on Saturday where he won the daily comp. He also won the drinks but was helped here by Vinnie who shot 85. Last but not least Denzo got out a couple of times up in Cairns. However he didn't learn anything from his first round because he shot a pair of 91s.

We will wait to hear about the bus trip last Friday and there is another round this Friday. One wonders if anyone works on Fridays. Cheerio.

We have a couple of surprises this week. First off Harby has hung up his bike running shoes and togs and got out his clubs. After dusting them off he went to RQ where he proceeded to hit it around. His NA at the end was still a game.Consider this. His last recorded round other than the trips was in 2015. Welcome back Harby. Then we have Crazy playing 3 rounds in month. 98 at Gunnamatta then 89 & 95 at Wodonga. Seems Lorraine twisted his arm and won. Dagwood Squeaky and Plugger teamed up in a club event at Keperra where they went 97, 98 & 99 respectively. Unfortunately they weren't in the hunt.Dagwood got in another round but he went worse having a 99. I know we are 6 mths out but it seems people are starting to think of their handicaps. The Claw had an 89 then an NA at Devonport. To early yet for the N/As. Denzo also had an N/A but then thought hell I should throw in a counter and had a 85 at Cairns. Also playing at Cairns but on the losing team was Biscut. His 87 being 2 shots worse than Denzo meant a trip to the bar for him..Backhoe put in back to back rounds that went in ascending order at Coolangatta. 99 100. If I have said it once I have said it a hundred times Backhoe it is meant to be descending order.Donuts went off to play a couple of rounds at his home course of Maroochy and after having some trouble in his first round of 88 bought it back a little in the next with an 83 which but for two doubles would have been better. .Army scored OK in one round at Ngamotu with a 79 but let it slip in the next with an 83. Vinnie just continues to let it slip. An 82 followed by an 86.

Don't forget there is a bus trip this Friday for the Lands Social club and I see that the pick up times for the bus begin at 5.30am. Good luck to those who will be picked first. Bottlo you can sleep in a bit.

12th July

I am not one to gossip but there was a visit to Brookwater by 3 frogs. They scored that well that on the way back home they screwed up their cards. All three carded over the ton so the least said the better for Plugger Squeaky and the recently retired Bottlo. They can now all work on their game now together.

To be fair to Plugger and Squeaky they did work on their game after that. They invited Chelsea along instead of Bottlo to play at Keperra where the scoring went, Plugger 96 Chelsea 98 and Squeaky 103. If Dagwood had teamed up he would have taken the money but he has slipped back into his bad habit of sleeping in. He had rounds of 93 & 97. Wally went on a walk about. He played Wynnum for 105 Ashgrove for 102 before blowing out at Keperra for a 113. What happened there Wally? Mayor got out again and played on his familiar course of Stanthorpe where he played OK for a 92. Backhoe like Wally got in 3 rounds but all at Coolangatta and contrasting rounds they were. He stared with a 102 then, bang, hit his straps and the ball better for an 89 before crashing and burning with a 97. Another to do that was Vinnie. An 89 followed by an 83 then 92. How does this happen? Army on the other hand shot 80 & 82. The 82 was played in atrocious conditions. It was that bad that they called the comp off for the afternoon players. Denzo and Biscut finally caught up again for a round at Cairns where Denzo walked to the bar while Biscut sat at the table. You see Biscuts 83 was sufficient to beat Denzo's 94. Donuts ventured out again after a break and shot a reasonable round of 85 at Maroochy. Finally The Claw hit an 89 at Devonport then went off to the practice fairway to work on his game. He is planning to get Razor out and said if he played like that then he will be like Denzo and run second. I will say goodbye on a winters night where even the seagulls are flying backwards and if we had penguins they would feel at home.

4th July

USA Independence Day. So we will move onto golf and our independent games. Backhoe got in a game before the rain hit. In his rush to finish though he carded to many shots and had a 103 at Coolangatta. Wally also shot a 103 after a 94 at Ashgrove and he played in the sunshine both rounds. Plugger Dagwood and Squeaky teamed up for a round at Keperra. Bragging rights went to Dagwood with a 93 then Plugger 95 and finally Squeaky a 98. None of them won anything in the daily comp but suffice to say Dagwood didn't dip into his pocket. Biscut played Cairns and it can only be assumed that his 97 was the result of another bad day at the office or the night before. Only no one is saying.The Claw had a not so good a ropund at Devonport and shot a 92. It must be said though that that was in the howling gale. That same gale was hitting the coast at Ngamotu and co-incidently Vinnie had the same score. To give you an indication of what they were up against a well hit 4 iron could only just make it to the green from only 116 mtrs. Army shot an 84 that day and his 5 iron didn't make the green. Vinnies other score in an earlier round was an 89 and Army's an 87. So as I mentioned at the start in the last report winter is definitely upon us and the ball just isn't performing although that could also be the person hitting it. It's never the player.

Don't forget there is another Lands day coming up Friday so a good turn out of frogs will help Bottlo and co.

Well winter has finally hit us and the scores are starting to reflect that. However as is always the case there are exceptions to the rule. Take Army for example. He starts off with an 81 one day before tearing up the course with a 2 over par score of 74. That was good enough to win gross of the day and also beat Vinnie for the drinks. Vinnies scores were a dismal 84 before an even more dismal 87.

Biscut finally surfaced again and it musty be warmer up north as well as his 83 showed he played OK. The others in his four didn't think so as they paid while he sat and enjoyed. The Claw has got a little better with his game, He shot an 84 before dropping 1 shot off for an 83. To complete the scores in the 80's we have Squeaky who had an 89 at Keperra.Hasn't fronted for a while and does that. Now we are not picking on Backhoe but he has a habit of turning his game on its head. His three rounds at Coolangatta went 97, 99 and 100. Backhoe it should be going the other way. descending rounds. Wally visited Caboolture where he faired quite badly with a 106 and went home disapointed. Don't worry though Wally at least you got out. Mayor played his normal Stanthorpe and normal game I am told. Drove for show but didn't putt for doe. His 97 could have be an 87 but for around the green.

We have a visitor back amongst the ranks. Crazy has taken his first small step back and played at The Dunes last Sunday. He, like the Mayor, was a little lost around the greens. Who wouldn't be after we played there and found out what fast greens are like. Anyway welcome back Crazy

Been a couple of weeks since I was here last yet not to many rounds played. Is it winter putting people off !!!

I know there were some who went to Hamilton Island hoping for perfect conditions. Find them they did but do you think that could play in those conditions. Plugger Chelsea and Blotto performed that badly that after the games they played, and there were two each, they were seen to slope off the course head in their hands asking what went wrong. They were also seen going to the tee each day with their heads in their hands from the night before. There in lines the answer. I have yet to see a pro front in those conditions and yet amateurs still try. You would think Blotto would know as he nearly made it to those ranks, if only. He couldn't implant that knowledge onto his playing partners. To be fair I have heard through the grape vine he was the biggest protagonist. That wouldn't be him.

Then there were those off us who then played with little discomfort. Squeaky for example shot 88 around Keperra and wished he had gone to Hamilton Island. He would have cleaned up there like he did in the Keperra comp. Actually come to think of it he would have suffered the same fate so maybe not. Also shooting an 88 was The Claw at Devonport. However that was after he had shot a 92 then a 90 so he took some comfort that he lowered his score each round. Razor unfortunately didn't get to play against The Claw when he played his round at Devonport. Lucky for The Claw as he shot an 84. In that he 3 putted 3 times so had he been able to putt he would he featured in the money. Wally has been a little busier than every one else. He had rounds of 91 , 97 then 101 at Ashgrove before ruining it all at Oxley with a 107. Backhoe on the other hand went from a 101 to a 91 at Coolangatta. He has done this before where he can turn his score around by 10 shots. However he isn't to sure whether it will be up or down.Mayor and Dagwood have curtailed some of their golf. Only one round for both of late. Mayor shot a 99 at Stanthorpe and if it wasn't for a 15 mtr putt on the last would have raised his club. Dagwood on the other hand compiled at nice 92 at Keperra. Denzo also shot 92 at Cairns and is taking a rest. Not as much as Biscut though as he hasn't fronted for a while. Langa also fits into this category. Donut as well.

Army has had rounds of 82 and 87 in between trying to sell his house. If anyone wants an investment give him a call. Vinnie had rounds of 88 and 85 and needs glasses as he hit the wrong on the third hole in his 88. Winter has hit in this neck of the woods and there is placing through the green. In some instances when you get to your ball there is more mud than ball showing.

Anyway lets get out there and enjoy it. Till next time my lips are sealed.

7th June

Well looks like I will need to keep going for the time being as to many have put their hand up and an election is going to take place. So tonight I will put up all those scores that some won't mind and others, lets just say would rather pay me to keep from seeing their scores. Who wants to be reminded of a bad round of golf. However to those people just remember there is a saying that a bad round of golf is better than a day at work. Right now I would agree as I am about to head off to work and it is only 5.46am. Yeah Bottlo I know you get there early as well but remember it is a change from my 8.30 to 5 previous job.

So now to begin. Starting with Donut today. Oh how he has the handicapper scratching his head. We start with an 81 at Maroochy followed up with a 97 at Pelican Waters then back to Maroochy for 86, 88 and 91. Is there a tournament somewhere coming up? The Mayor cranked out a few games as well as some distance off the tee. Showing a little consistency now. All these rounds were at Stanthorpe, 93, 99, 99, 94 and 101 then 96 at Warwick. Everyone else from here own played on their own course. Dagwood at Keperra for 102, 96, 100 and 103 saw him in the also ran class. On the other hand The Claw at Devonport threw in a couple of good enough scores to feature in the money and a couple just not to far out. 82 & 84 did it but the two 86's didn't. Razor tried to keep up but his 90 & 91 left him wanting, Backhoe shot an 88 to just get pipped for second then reverted to his inconsistency for a 94 before hitting the 101 & 103 respectively, Do you know who fronted at Keperra? It was Squeaky making a guest appearance but his 98 showed he is not a man of form. Plugger took his money with a 94 and turned out again later in the week for a 97 which would still have been good enough to swamp Squeaky. Wally just seems to be treading water at the moment. His rounds of 93 , 97 and 100 around Ashgrove shows he is enjoying the sunshine. He did go off to Carbrook and broke the ton with a well complied 99, Denzo was able to get out at Cairns between cyclones I think. He wasn't shaken up to much with his 85 but he did some damage to his confidence by shooting an 89 next time out. Army smashed in a round of 78 at Ngamotu to pick up something but then slipped with rounds of 83, 84 and 85. Not sure why he started shooting in ascending order. Aren't you meant to lower your score each round. Vinnie did that at Ngamotu with 82 & 81. Was enough to smile for the camera each time.

Now that we have caught up we can look forward to some more regular reports. That is if I can keep up. Cheers

Yes Vinnie, I know the feeling. You have done a fantastic job and it is time to hand over the reins to someone else. Can you organise someone please fearless leader Plugger.

Now for the Lands news. Howeston was the host course and the club welcomed yet another Frog with Backhoe joining us, and what better way to welcome him then put him in Bottlo's group. It didn't work out too well for Backhoe, but Bottlo, first up from a spell recorded yet another 45pts in the single stab. (there goes 5 shots off the handicap) The course must have been playing easy as Plugger had 41pts to finish runner up again to Bottlo. (should be used to it by now) Then came Rodent and Moody with 36pts, King Kong 35pts, and Backhoe 32pts. As for the rest of the Frogs, Squeaky still prefers drinking to golf, GR8-1 is still OS, Chopper cruising, Flasher in Canada, too far to travel for Dinky and Sumo, Chelsea just another no show and Hoppy probably just resting his old bones.

Great to hear Burger is out of hospital and now on a strict diet. We won't recognise him Harby.

23rd May

The writer is now, like the previous one getting tired so some one please put your hand up. In the mean time I can tell you about the following rounds played in various playing conditions including self induced.

Biscut & Denzo enjoyed a night in Cairns. They decided early in the morning that they only needed a couple of hours sleep before playing golf so they agreed on a time to meet. Biscut 91 Denzo 89 and they were last seen heading home not one drink at the bar. Must have been the water from the bottles they were seen drinking early in the morning. Wally got a shock about his game. Just when he thought it couldn't get worse out comes a 107 at Ashgrove before a vast improvement in a 104 at Woodford. Mayor couldn't decided what was a good round and what wasn't so a couple of 94s at Stanthorpe leaves him undecided. Donut did what no one expected of him. He reverted back to a bad day at the office with a 92 before pulling it back with an 83 at Maroochy. He has this tendency to throw in a bad one every second game. Is the handicapper onto him? The Claw and Razor re-ignited their mid week game at Devonport. The Claw on this occasion, as has happened a lot before to be fair, secured bragging rights. 84 to Razors 90.Dagwood had his normal late morning tee off at Keppera for an ab normal score of 103. Backhoe was one to bring his score down from last week. His 94 being better by 11 shot. Now to see if he does a Donut. Army traveled down to the South Island where he took in the sights and also hooked in a game at Queenstown Kelvin Heights. Actually hooked is what he did as he didn't find too many fairways more a lot of left rough. At the end an 86. Went back to sight seeing after that in his vehicle. Vinnie rounds off the week and he did it with a 79 at Ngamotu. Only a double boggy on the last stopped him from running second. No one remembers who runs second so it doesn't matter. Auf Weidersehen

17th May

Good to hear and you couldn't stop Flasher as we know. Not so good is Bottlo's illustrious career threatened by injury and Bear as a driver. Still both could come good in time and only time will tell.

Now Mayor had a good time at Stanthorpe the other day. His 89 won him his match and the comp of the day. Biscut also featured in the prize money at Cairns with an 81. Unfortunately Denoz was on the end of that good round and his 94 only cemented his misery. Another to have a good day well considering his last round was Donut, He shot 82 around Maroochy River. Was an 11 shot swing so he is now a happier golfer. With a 97 and 104 at Ashgrove Wally has been left wondering especially as he played Burger on both days and was comfortably beaten due to Burgers 96 & 98. The Claw took Razor out at Devonport. Razor 95 The Claw 90. That seems like OK he is on a lower handicap so he should. Well the day after The Claw goes out again and wham 97 and Razor is sitting there thinking if only he had done that yesterday. Well Razor it is on the day that it counts. Backhoe is also wondering what is going on. 105 at Coolangatta and he thinks should I spell or stay up. A good race horse would spell now. Ours have by the way. Vinnie 84 at Ngamotu and also got into the prize money. Bringing up the rear but not badly was Dagwood as his 93 at Keperra didn't see him win anything but he wasn't last either. A mid field finish.

That is it from a stormy night where there is thunder, lightning and rain like you wouldn't believe. Well actually you all would as you have seen more of this than us so it just farvel.

12th May

Yes Vinnie, a large contingent attended Bruno's funeral to send off the great man. Flasher relived some of his early adventures with Bruno and did him proud. (You know the ones I mean- story 23 - 45). We then gathered at the Eatons Hills hotel and had a few quiet ones reminiscing about Bruno's time with us on the golf trips. Bear was nominated to drive the bus next year and was voted in. (Might keep him quiet hopefully).

Lands have lost a valued Patron, so the players donned black armbands to show our respect for him. Just shows the type of guy he was to step up and support our club the way he did.

Now for the saddest news: Bottlo is struggling with a shoulder injury and his immediate golfing future is on hold. (Big deal did I hear you say??)

And the scores from Gailes were even sadder so I won't bother advertising them. Frogs who showed up to play were Dinky, Sumo, Hoppy, Moody, Plugger, King Kong and Rodent. Squeaky decided free grog was more important than the club, GR-1 is in Scotland burning up St Andrews, Botto injured, Flasher not interested, Chopper resting up for his next cruise and Chelsea was probably working.

11th May

Well I trust that the Frogs gave Bruno a good send off with all the stories about his escapades and celebrated his life.

There have been a number out playing of resent times. Plugger showed up at Keperra and improved on his last outing by a massive 1 shot. Sorry Plugger a 103 is only a slight improvement. Razor and The Claw had a hit out at Devonport and to show that Razor hasn't been playing a lot he shot a 95 to The Claws 88. Both were disappointed and spent some time in the bar going over their rounds. 3 hours later they still couldn't work it out. Shades of a Frogs trip. Mayor played a couple of times once at Stanthorpe for a 90 then off to City GC for a 92. He to took a while to get home after City but that was the drive.Donuts also played a couple of times and his 88 & 93 at Maroochy River didn't raise any eye brows. He just occupied a seat at the bar a little longer. One who doesn't frequent the bars of late, Wally, snuck in a couple of rounds at Ashgrove. His 99 first up was followed by a 93 and after both games he just packed up and went home. Backhoe continues playing at Coolangatta where else would he play. Anyway his 96 left him amongst the also rans. Speaking of also rans Army & Vinnie did that with their 87 & 83 respectively last saturday. However their Wednesday game was different, well for Army that is. A 78 got him a mention in dispatches but Vinnie again was left wanting with his 83.

Epect to hear how the Lands guys went last week so watch this space. Cheers

The passing of Bruno comes as a great shock. It is something that is hard to believe, as he looked good in February and now there is an emptiness. The drivers seat will not look the same. The Unflappable Bruno R.I.P.

Out of respect I am only going to actually give the scores for each of those who played since the 25th April. Mayor 99, Wally 103 & 95, Plugger 104, Donuts 82, Biscut 87, The Claw 91& 92, Army 83 & 84 and Vinnie 80 & 84.

25th April

Back on deck and rearing to go. I thought a lot more golf would have been played but no. It seems that some have given it away until summer next year. However we did have people playing and some playing very well. Army played the game correctly over 3 rounds at Ngamotu. He went 82, 81 & 76. The 76 won gross of the day but only third in the stabbies. Going the other way was Biscut at Cairns and he went 85,86, & 90. He said no matter what he did it all went wrong. The Claw played along in a similar vein. His rounds at Devonport 89, 91 & 93. He played one round with Razor who shot 85 and took out the match & drinks. Another to play 3 rounds was Mayor and well we can not say anymore after shooting a 91 and things going well to 99 then 103. Dam silly game is all you could hear him saying. Vinnie finishes those who got in 3 rounds. An 80 at Fitzroy, then two 85's at Ngamotu and Taumarunui and lighter in his pocket for the efforts.Donuts somehow found time to play a couple of rounds at Maroochy and played two reasonable rounds. His 86 was followed by an 82 and a runner up spot in the comp. Denzo had a 93 at Cairns but he was in a rush to get to work so he promises better next time to his partner. They suffered a big loss. Backhoe saw the ball a few to many times in his 100 at Coolangatta but less the next time with a 93. Then we had Plugger doing the same thing where his 101 at Yamba was followed by a 90 at Keperra and in the prize money. Dagwood also played Keperra for 97 & 95. He lost out to Plugger. Last but not least the best round of the frogs. Burger got out to Ashgrove and ignited the course with an impressive 88 and he took out everything on the day. Wally was no where to be seen. Strange that.

Must be a game coming up at Gailes next Friday 5th so be there if you can.

19th April

Normal business will resume on the 23rd. In my lead up to retirement I have had functions last night, tonight and then I am on a golf trip through to Saturday so time is very restricted for gathering information and then putting it into words. Good luck to all who are playing though and remember to keep sending through those stories. yeah right.

11th April

Lands played the club championship qualifying round at Nudgee. I'm happy to report that all Frogs who played qualified. Oops, sorry, Rodent failed.

Dinky was the winner of the day with an 86 gross/68 net. GR8-1 was next with 86/74 followed by Moody 98/74, Sumo 97/77, Bottlo 95/78, Hoppy 103/78, Squeaky 100/80 and poor old Rodent bringing up the rear with 110/83.

Mayor tripped over to Gympie for a not so happy day for 102. Still beat his last game there where he had 103. Wally is another who was disappointed with his 106 at Ashgrove then next time out broke the hundred with a 98 and still wasn't happy. Plugger was just a little more happier but only because he could tell Wally he beat him off the stick with his 97. That was at Keperra Plugger not the harder course of Ashgrove However there were some that you could not wipe the smile off their face. Take Dagwood as he scorched around Keperra for an 88 and bragging rights. Burger also bragged in his easy win over Wally with his 91 and it was also good enough for a place in the daily comp. Squeaky was far better at Keperra than he was at Nudgee. He had a 92 and it was enough to sink Donuts with his 93. To be fair to Donuts he had just showed up for a visit not expecting to play so borrowed all the gear. Backhoe even lifted his game at Coolangatta where he shot a 92 and didn't go in the comp. Wouldn't have mattered though Backhoe.The Claw, well he is like Razor, both get stuck at Devonport. His 88 off a 12 left him out in the cold as far as a prizes were concerned. Actually he played in it as well. Barmy weather down south. Army returned from a trip over to Tauranga where he had to do some work. Karen said he didn't really do anything just took her to a restaurant where he wined and dined her. Anyway he returned on the Sunday and had an 80 at Ngamotu. Now that Vinnie is due to retire on the 21st April he decided to try and play 3 days in a row to get some idea of how Wally feels. Well all were played at Ngamotu where he went 82,80 and 83. On each occasion he was able to win something. As much as it was it won't be enough to live on so he will have to do something else. Get a real job would be a start.. And that everyone is how it went for those who couldn't grace the fairways of Nudgee. See ya.

4th April

Caught up with a few more frogs now and one in particular is playing so much golf he buys a new set every 6 months. Since Portsea he has played quite a few rounds. Oh to be retired to be fair. Well I am now actually according to my previous company. Anyway he is The Claw and plays Devonport and just to give you some idea of his scores they range between 80 on a good day to 92 on a bad one. He has had more good than bad. Denzo has played a few rounds at Cairns. He has gone 91, 87 & 86. He played those three round with Biscut who shot 82, 87 & 82 and similar to the Wally & Burger challenges Biscut drank more on Denzo than the other way around. Speaking of Wally & Burger they went and played McLeod where Burger gave Wally a lesson. Well not quite as Burgers 102 was just better than Wallys 104. Still a win is a win.Donuts plays Maroochy for 83 & 93 then off to Nossa where he shots a disappointing 84. He was hoping to go lower but alas the night before caught up to him. Langa started well at Nudgee with an 83 then 84 but the wheels fell off for the last round for a N/A. He is still wondering what happened. Poor Mayor. His round of 89 at Stanthorpe was the fore runner to his 102 at Gympie. Still after that round he was heard to say he would be back, just didn't know when. Still smiling though. Army at last showed some game and shot 75 at Ngamotu in the top dog. Only trouble was his opponents played out of their skin and on the 15th they shook hands. 4/3 loss. Vinnie on the other hand got to the 17th before he shook hands with his opponents. Same result though a loss after shooting 84. Don't forget Nudgee coming up for the Lands social game. Kick off 7.30am.

Sure is good having the footy on. Big win to Crusaders and a small win to Highlanders. On a sombre note, a loss for Wally. Playing Burger at Ashgrove he knocked up a 102 to Burgers 93. I was told that Burger couldn't stop talking about the win. Just reminding Wally when his glass was empty Wally had another round later in the week and would have still lost with a 97. Mayor found the going tough at City where he recorded a 103. To make himself feel better he went back to Stanthorpe and shot a 91. He was elated so it worked.Dagwood surprisingly had no other frogs out at Keperra. He recorded an N/A and 97 so maybe it was just as well no other frogs where there. He would have surely lost. Backhoe with his 98 at Coolangatta was also on the losing side. To continue on with another loser Army and Vinnie played against each other at Ngamotu where they both had 85s. However with a couple of extra shots up his sleeve and his partner shooting a one under 71, it was enough for Vinnie to get up on Army and his partner at the 17th. Razor was out for his second round back and his 88 to say the least was disappointing. He showed so much promise just not sure what happened. Now if someone can get golf link numbers for the following I will be able to look them up and tell you the real truth about their games. Not the ones they tell you. So The Claw, Biscuit, Denzo, Langa and Donut I believe actually have them so please help out. Who knows we may see golf scores that we haven't seen before. Tchau

27th March

Lands game at McLeod was cancelled due to the state of the course after heavy rain. (and the committee Squeaky and Bottlo didn't want to get their shoes dirty). The next game is championship qualifying at Nudgee. Good to have footy back. Good wins to Frog favourites: Cats, Tigers and Bombers. Shame about the Hawks Biscuit. Better get used to losing.

21st Mar

Less and less playing at the moment. Perhaps it is that too many are needing R & R or the weather isn't that flash. Who knows. Anyway only Mayor and Vinnie got in a couple of games. Mayor went to Clifton to surprise his mate there, yes he does have them and shot a 94 before returning to Stanthorpe for a 91. Vinnie got out after St Patricks day celebrations. Played at Mgamotu he shot a horrible 87 but the next day picked up 6th prize in Stabbies with 35 points. Feeling a lot better on the Sunday. Then for those who could only manage one round. Razor, finally was able to get out at Devonport after all the rain they have had. He had an 86 which included some very average shots he said. Army played at Ngamotu for an 80 and he wasn't to happy with the slow play. That's what happens when you hit the ball so long, you have to wait. Plugger had stroll a around Keperra and in the bright sunshine shot a 94 which was OK, considering his state of health. He didn't see Dagwood, mind you he couldn't see much by the sound of things but Dagwood was out there and he shot a 93.

So for all those who will be playing this Friday at McLeod don't forget the early start kick off at 7am. Au Revoir

15th Mar

It could be that some frogs are trying to forget their golf at the moment after Portsea. Only three of those who went played outside of the Lands Social day. Backhoe at Coolangatta where he shot 94 and if his putting was a little better it would have been 89. Plugger warmed up for Pacific but at Keperra where he had a 99 but as he said he was warming up. Well it worked. Then last was Vinnie who shot 82 around Ngamotu. He was joined by Army who shot an 89 which included a couple of lost balls and to show he is still out of form he shot 86 today.Wally finally invited Burger to play at another course outside of Ashgrove. He must have known it would be harder for Burger because he piled the bet on and then shot 92 to Burgers 100. Then they went back to Ashgrove where Burger reversed the outcome. He shot 93 to Wally's 98. However to show he is a gentleman he didn't stack up the bet just kept it low.Then to top it off Wally went for another game at Ashgrove and shot 93. He was a little annoyed he didn't do that the day before because it would have halved his match.

Looks like another outing for the Lands Social 24th March. Does anyone do any work in Govt depts? 7 am kick off means most will be still wiping the sleep from their eyes. See ya..

13th Mar

Lands travelled to Pacific for the GR8-1's sponsored day. Single Stab with a secret partners draw was the comp and FROGS where in the prizes. Surprise single stab winner was Squeaky with 38pts. (he's always wanted to share GR8-1's spoils). Plugger was hot on his heals with 37pts, followed by GR8-1 35pts, Rodent 34pts, Bottlo 24pts (who needs a power tool anyway?) and Hoppy with 22pts. Rodent was the partners winner and let Bottlo know about it all the way home. (sort of glad he's too old for trips now). The rest of the FROG brigade must still be resting after Portsea.

9th Mar

Yes it was a great trip and the usual happened. Some won some lost but all in all a great time and a big thank you to all. Organisers and drivers did us proud and it is confirmed Corowa.

Well there has been a slow return to the courses for those who went and then a few games for those who stayed behind. None more so than Wally who chanced his hand 3 times at Ashgrove and once at Virginia. So it went 95, 91,96 at Ashgrove and 97 Virginia. That is 4 games for those who need a hand.Coming in with three was actually Plugger so he obviously wasn't happy with the number he played down south. All at Keperra for a pair of 97's and then a 91. Would have been a winner with his last score. Mayor has shown he is back to form. Well for one round. A 94 at Stanthorpe was followed by a 99 at Warwick before going back to Stanthorpe for a round 100.Burger got in two rounds at Ashgrove and had a pair of 95's for his troubles. Still enough to beat Wally in one. Dagwood can't seem to move away from Keperra. 93 & 91. He played with Squeaky and Plugger in one of those rounds and I don't know what happened to Squeaky but I am picking he is still suffering from the drive down south to the airport as he had a 101. Backhoe is another who suffered but I am not sure from what but he also recorded a 101 at Coolangatta.

Some bad news for Army. After leading going into the final round of the stroke play he collapsed with a round of 84. Started with a birdie and then down hill from there. Lost by 4 shots. However had he had what Vinnie had he would have won by 1 as he had a 79. Still he did win the most important thing and that was the drinks. Army & Vinnie shook hands with their opponents on the 13th green. Drinks always taste best when the other buys the round.

So now we wait for others to return and tomorrow Lands Social club have their day so we will wait to hear how some of those frogs got on. 49 weeks away until Corowa.

6th March

Another successful FROGS trip is done and dusted. The courses were a joy to play and the company was as good as any other year. The new tadpoles fitted in like they have been around for years. The usual banter between old frogs continued with Bear excelling this year. He was particularly harsh on Bottlo. The drivers did their usual good job to get us around safely and Pluggers bookwork was as precise as always. Well done to 'Parmy' King Kong on his Top Frog win again. (Must be something in not drinking).

Time to look forward to going back to the Murray next year. Rumour has it that Corrowa could be the destination.

14th Feb

The news is all good about Bottlo. He was ushered off the boat by the crew, they were glad to see him go. Then he fronted up at Mareanui and believe it or not had a reasonable round of golf. Can still hit the ball OK off the tee and to the green but oh his putting. Similar to his drives really when he could hit it. Anyway Vinnie had an 87. Squeaky got his second to last round in at Keperra and shot 89. So he is primed. Plugger on the other hand just couldn't get the ball in the hole quick enough. His two rounds at Keperra were 103 & 104. Hints a bit of playing with Bottlo, Bruno plugged away at Pelican Waters and was out in 43 but back in 50, Games of two halves. Chelsea fronted up at last for some practise. Played at Keperra for a 98. Then we had Backhoe who is tapering at Coolangatta. His 95 said nothing as it was practise. So that is it for those who are coming to Portsea.

Now for those who for one, two or three reasons can not make it. The best of these was Army. He had a 78 and ran second in the comp. Next best was Dagwood who continues to knock it around at Keperra. His two recorded rounds 93 & 92, Mayor played City, where ever that is and shot 97 but improved with his next round which was at Stanthorpe for a 94. LAst but not least the terrible twins of Ashgrove. Burger & Wally played a round where Wally pipped Burger 94 to 97. Then Wally ditched Burger and went off to Carbrook where he shot 105. He said he should have played another game at Ashgrove with Burger and remained a winner. You will never know now Wally.

So that's it last report before Portsea. Travel safe everyone and see those who are coming on Sunday. Haere ra,

6th Feb 17

Definitely getting closer and this time in two weeks we will have had the first round.

However lets talk about those who played some rounds over the last week. Plugger had two games. Normally it is a game of two halves. First nine then second nine. This was a game of two games. Both at Keperra and first up a 92 not bad but next round 110. What went wrong? Mayor threw in a couple as well at Stanthorpe for 95 & 98. Bit more consistency than Plugger. Vinnie also has two rounds and was consistent as well. Played at Ngamotu and rounds of 81 & 82. Army partnered up with him and he shot 80 but at the end of the day the greatest number 8 to never play for the All Blacks and the local number 1 Taranaki player just got home to take the spoils. To be fair Atkins played his best round this year. Wally and Burger also partnered up at Ashgrove in the local Top Dog comp and just like the later pair ran second in their match. Wally's 96 & Burger's 99 meant they are now in the under dogs. Bruno said he drove the ball well off the tee but his seconds either came up short or went left or right of the green. At the end of the day his 92 wasn't quite what it could have been. Dagwood still continues to play around Keperra and his 97 was just that. Not good enough to win. So this week we have a lot of seconds.

Next week I will be able to report on the progress of Bottlo and whether the crew of the cruise ship are ready to kick him off. It will also include his score at Napier when he plays with two of Hawkes Bay finests golfers. Cheers

Two weeks 6 days and then we will see how everyone's game is. In the mean time I can tell you about the following and how their game is. Take Mayor for example, Not coming on the trip but he is peaking at just about the right time. So he plays Stanthorpe for a 95 & 94 then off to Warwick where he shoots 89. Its in the blood Mayor you need to go on a golfing trip around now. Dagwood, another who has pulled the pin, didn't quite shoot the lights out at Keperra but 98 & 96 weren't his worst rounds lately. Bruno ,well what do you say. 88 at Pelican Waters blew away the memory of his last round and also blew away the opposition. Coming in with form Backhoe continues to frustrate himself at Coolangatta. 105 then 95. He is still trying to figure it out. Thats golf for you. Wally obviously decided he wouldn't come because his golf is a little off. His 97 & 98 at Ashgrove and then 100 at Caboolture were not to his liking. Burger put in an appearance at Ashgrove with Wally and his 96 proved to be a winner but alas he is another who isn't coming. Plugger again only had one round at Keperra and a 99 was all he could do. Mind you he said with the trip coming up and at that stage only 22 players he was thinking more of numbers attending not strokes taken. Razor blazed around Devonport hitting the ball as long as he has in a while but still shot 85. It helps if you don't hit your putts the same way Razor. Little birdie told me his putts were sliding by the hole by 3- 4 feet each time. Army shot 80 at Ngamotu and is still recovering from his trip to Wellington. Ten bets on the horses and it was 10 nil to them. Actually a bit like Dinky's or Walrus's 2 nil to the pigs. What have animals got over these two? Vinnie shot 77 and needs to have a look at himself. He cost him and his partner the comp for a bad display of putting. Well one missed putt from less than 2 feet. Some one I know, knows about the putting yips and how it feels???. Ka Kite.

So many defections this year Bottlo. Nothing I did in regards to Nextime because could never understand me. So what have you done?

Anyway here is the news. We start with Bruno who didn't play at Virginia because he is tapering off. He did have a 104 at Pelican Waters and said it was not a thing of beauty He also said he will need to improve. Quite right there Bruno. Backhoe is stuck at Coolangatta. I don't mean he can't get away, I mean his 101 now makes it 3 out of the last 4 rounds on 101. That pattern also works for Vinnie. He is stuck at Ngamotu with another 83. So he's following in the foot steps of Backhoe. You have Big feet Backhoe. Plugger has slowed up a little with just one round at Keperra where he shot 100 raised his club and then remembered its golf not cricket. Razor said he has been watching a lot of cricket, the Big Bash, Pakistani's and Kiwis vrs Bangladesh. However he did take time out to play Devonport where he showed glimpses of having some game. Overall he was reasonably happy with his 85. Army played during the week at Ngamotu so he could get away to watch his wife's horse run and Vinnies for that matter in Wellington on the Saturday. Well it was a total disaster on all three fronts. First he shots 88 to lose everything. Then Vinnies horse is running in the first race and after getting a cracking start led 17 other horses into the straight. At the finishing line it leads 1 across. Then the big moment. Wifes horse runs and well you don't want to know the rest. Army was seen at the bar with head between his hands, an empty wallet and his wife comforting him.

Actually both horses won today at the Wanganui Greyhounds meet. It is getting closer. See you in 2 weeks Bottlo and you others in 3. Take care,

Lands had their first game of the year at Viginia and judging by results a lot of work needs to be done before Portsea. Sumo led the way with 90/69 nett along with Chelsea 86/69 nett. Then followed Plugger 94/70, King Kong 84/74, Moody 101/78, Squeaky 99/79, Bottlo 94/79, Dinky 97/80, Rodent 112/85 and GR8-1 96/85. Now that the cobwebs have been brushed off expect big improvements from the Frogs that don't play regularly. As for the others there's not much hope for you.

Here's some news on the Frogs mentioned below Vinnie.

Emu, Clackers and Nextime (Serpico) have decided that they've had enough of your Kiwi humour and decided not to travel this year. (only took Nextime one year to figure you out). With these guys missing along with Mayor,

Rodent, Wally, Army, Pom and Burger the average age (and golfing ability) of the group has taken a huge dive. Lets hope new tadpoles Langer, Choco, Donut, Biscut and Denzo can lift the standard of the group.

As for Harby, who cares what he's doing, Flasher is off playing speed cars in Victoria, Gunsynd is trying to get Harby to book their flights and Chopper is still cruising the high seas terrorizing the ships buffets. Oh, by the way, who's Bear?? Oh I remember now. Can't wait to catch up with him and listen to his words of wisdom.

So we only have one original Frog left in King Kong. Well done Plugger, your takeover plan is almost complete.

Well back again and I will be a bit more regular, the reports will be to.

So we are having a good catch up of rounds this week and first up we go with Wally. He has been busy. Must be sharpening his game although Oxley was his down fall. A 103 was not what he was after. He had rounds of 97,97, & 93 at Ashgrove and 98 at Wynnum. Mayor was also busy at Stanthorpe and his rounds were 98, 96, 95 then 90. Just what he is looking for. descending order. Can he do better next time? We will wait and see.Plugger got in 3 rounds at Keperra and they were 97,104 and 94. 10 shot swings are good for you when they go the right way. Army had some time off and played at Ngamotu 5 times. So how did he go. Well his 81 was the best then 84, 86,86 and 87. Not necessary in that order but suffice to say he didn't win anything. Chelsea surfaced for the first time in 5 months and to be fair his 97 and 96 at Keprra wasn't bad for the time off he has had. Still had to pay though as Dagwood shot 94 & 92 to win twice. They say Chelsea is still shell shocked. Burger also came back after a short spell and only lodged one round of 100 at Ashgrove. Said he didn't want to wear himself out before Portsea.

Squeaky was happy with his round of 92 at Keperra. Just hit it and walked up and hit it again. Said the round just flowed. Well it will be different in a few weeks time Squeaky. Razor is doing his normal. Just a couple of rounds he said before the trip and his one this week was an 86 at Devonport. Trying to come in under the radar is Razor. Backhoe on the other hand is not sure about his game. It follows rounds of 101 93 & 101. He was happy with his middle round but couldn't figure what he did to have it. Normal transmission resumed the next day. Vinnie was a model of consistency. rounds of 82, 83 and 83 at Ngamotu were just that. Won nothing not even the drinks.

Don't forget Virginia this Friday 7.30am kick off.

Haven't heard about the likes of Harby, Flasher, Gunsynd Chopper, Emu, Clackers, Bear, Nextime. Who is missing this year? Only 5 weeks out now. Cheers

Thanks to a little help from my friend Bottlo I can now start telling you again, all the truth about rounds of golf played by the various frogs out and about. Hope you all survived the festive season and are now the count down is on. On a sad note Army has had to forgo the trip this year so it only leaves Vinnie as the sole Kiwi. Take it easy on him.

Now for the rounds and we start with Army as he needs to be remembered. An 83 was followed by a 78 at Ngamotu and second gross in the comp. Another to have a good round was Mayor who had a 91 but then the wheels fell off or the hangover wore off because he followed up with a 97 then 98 at Stanthorpe. Rather unsettled him. Dagwood would have to be even more unsettled though. His 88 won him the comp of the day at Keperra but then his 104 got him the chomp. From riches to rags on this occasion. Plugger like Dagwood also had a round that he liked at Keperra. An 89 and a runner up prize. He didn't try for a second round rather basked in the glory. Bruno was out at Pelican Waters and showed signs of having too much Xmas pudding. 98 shots later it was finished. Backhoe and Wally got a couple of rounds in each. Wally at Ashgrove for 98 & 94 and Backhoe at Coolangatta for 97 & 93. Funny how both said they were just out for a hit and trying to sharpen up their game. Finally Vinnie played in a 3 day comp the first round at Ngamotu for 83, Inglewood for an 83 and Westown for 87. Then back to Ngamotu for an 80 before finishing at Omanu for an 82. Now shattered. So only 6 weeks out and then the games begin.

Well Frogs, another year has rushed past with this group and thanks to Vinnie we have been kept informed of what is happening on and off the golf course. We have celebrated birthday milestones and have unfortunately lost some of our extended family over the year. So a big thanks to you Vinnie for your comical weekly updates that now make some sense. (Your spelling has improved so much over the years).

Bottlo will be off to 'sheep shagger land' on a cruise in February to warm up for Portsea. Maybe he'll be able to understand Vinnie's jibber when he returns!! (What did he say Harby???).

Hasn't taken long for the holiday season to kick in. Only 8 to report on this week and they are the hardy few who play on a regular basis, Mayor had a couple of contrasting round at Stanthorpe. He shot 101 then 10 shots better for a 91. However he then went to Toowoomba and proceeded to have a 106. Wally was another to play twin courses. His 92 at Ashgrove was an improvement on his 101 at Riverlakes. Plugger Squeaky and a reluctant Dagwood teamed up at Keperra. Dagwood had previously got the drop on the other two and his reluctance to play with them and ruin his winning streak was well founded. Turns out Squeaky shot 90, Plugger a 92 and bringing up the rear Dagwood on 98. To his credit he dipped his hand in his pocket to shout but had left his wallet at home. WE know about those ones Dagwood. Plugger got another round in at Keperra and he would have beaten Dagwood again with his 96. Razor is spasmodic at Devonport. His 86 showing he has potential but rearly kicks on. On the other side of that Army has hit a rich vain. Well he picked up a Xmas Hamper with his 76 at Ngamotu and $150 dollars for his finishing 6th in the Farr Cup over the year. Vinnie on the other hand got nothing for his 81 ( missed by lot) but picked up $275 for finishing 3rd in the Farr. This is run along the same lines as the Fedex Cup or should I say the Fedex Cup is run along the same as the Farr Cup. One other minor difference between the two is the prize money. Rory got $10ml for his win. The winner was only a few noughts short of that with $1,000 for his prize money. So when ever some one says that 0 equals nothing put that nought behind 6 others with a 1 in front and there you go. worth more than you think. Maths lesson over for the night.

And so the silly season is upon us and we wish all Frogs & Tadpoles a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year and don't forget Portsea is only 10 weeks away.

Sometimes you run into bad luck Chelsea. Just saying.

A few rounds to report on now that we are back up and running. Plugger has played 4 rounds since the 7th at Keperra. How about this and it shows how if you play enough the score reflects it. 105, 94, 92 then 87. Did you see the trend? Unfortunately I then looked at Wallys scores for his 4 rounds, the complete opposite. He went 95, 97, 99 at Ashgrove then 101 at Gailes. What do I know. Backhoe had 3 rounds and they went 102, 99 & 94 at Coolangatta. Bruno also has 3 rounds to show. All at Pelican waters for 94, 93 & 86. The 86 saw him enter the winners circle. I see a pattern here. Mayor continues that with his 99 & 100 at Stanthorpe. Dagwood, only at Keperra these days, shot 99 & 97. Also at Keperra for 2 rounds was Squeaky who knows how to win. He had rounds of 95 & 91. The Devonport Kid called Razor fronted and shot 83. Not to bad for a part timer. Burger went out for 1 round with his old mate Wally at Ashgrove and shot the same as him a 97. Army played the same two days as Vinnie. Saturday & Sunday at Ngamotu. Army had rounds of 83 & 79 which was OK as he won a Xmas ham but Vinnie with a pair of 88s was useless and that's it.

Bottlo, Squeaky, Chelsea and Plugger played with the Grange social club at Wantima and unfortunately for Chelsea, he drew Bottlo as a partner and was soundly beaten by the pair of handicap thieves. Must be nice to have a woman's handicap.

7th Dec

This is rather annoying.. I can not access your Golf Link. Hence at this point I can not comment on golf scores from across the ditch. However from over here Army shot an 81 at Ngamotu but didn't pick up anything. Vinnie played twice and shot 80 then 77 at Fitzroy. He played in a Xmas Hamper and only picked up 2 golf balls for a 2 so they are worth $15 a piece. No Hamper though like some others.

As for our average cricket side Bottlo you give us more credit than we deserve. Who would put a team into bat at Canberra when history suggests bat first all day long. We will however be competitive in the dead rubber if it rains and there is no play. At least we would be your equal average team.

5th Dec

Lands played their final game for the year at Nudgee. Moody as usual on our major sponsor's day had 40pts and won himself a Xmas hamper. He also shit his fellow frogs off by winning another one with a NTP. Dinky had 36pts and helped himself to a NTP hamper. The rest of us were pretty ordinary with scores of: Gr8-1 35pts, Bottlo 34pts, King Kong 33pts, Bruno 29pts, Plugger 27pts, Flasher and Chopper 25pts, Sumo 24pts and bringing up the rear (don't get excited GR8-1) was Squeaky with a deplorable 23pts.

So all you Frogs out there that bother to read this stuff have a great Xmas and New year and we'll all gather at Portsea for what promises to be a great trip.

Oh, by the way Vinnie. How'd your average cricket side go against our very average cricket side. Winners are grinners.

Only a few out again this week. One who did get out and showed a remarkable turn around in form was Squeaky. From last weeks winning effort to this weeks losing one. 100 off the stick at Keperra suggests he was thinking of playing in a day nighter game of cricket. Burger was another who would have raised his bat at Ashgrove for a 101. Wally his playing partner whipped in under him and shot a 95 so was laughing all the way to the bar. Then he went out again two days later but his magic had gone. A 99 put paid to any prize. Plugger and Dagwood both played Keperra at different times twice and you wouldn't believe it, they both had identical scores. They had 95 for the first round and 94 for the second. Here is another strange occurence with Mayor and Backhoe involved. These two played poles apart. Stanthorpe for Mayor and Coolangatta for Backhoe. 92 shots later they both finished. How about co incidences.

We finish on a sombre note. Army firmly smashed Vinnie but they share the spoils because they were partners. Army 81 and Vinnie 87 but when it mattered they combined to wipe the floor of the opposition. So thats it for this week. Another week closer if you didn't know it.

25th Nov

Wilston Grange Master had a game last week at Gainsborough Greens. Four frogs were present Freddy Chelseas Plugger & Squeaky. Chelsea showed he is a true burglar. Doesn't have a game in weeks and then when it matters an 81 off the stick. Squeaky an 89 and Freddy & Plugger 98s didn't trouble either the winners circle or police like Chelsea.

23rd Nov

We have seen the return of a couple of frogs who had a month almost off. Mayor thought a spell was going to help his game. Well it did for the first round. A 91 at Stanthorpe and he was on the right track. A 95 was just a small slip. Brother in law Razor showed that a spell was definitely worth while. An 82 was better than his 83 from the last round. Played at his home course Devonport. Squeaky got in the round of the week at Keperra. He shot 87 which unfortunately was better than his playing partner Plugger. He had a 96 and Squeaky just enjoyed the beers . However Plugger got another round in and unfortunately played a little worse with a 97. Another to have a 97, in fact two of them, was Wally. He first played Ashgrove then Pacific so they are about the same difficulty course wise. Burger only played Ashgrove for a 95 so one thinks Wally didn't want to take him to Pacific so he could be beaten again. Dagwood was another to hit out twice. His was Keperra and he had 96 & 99. You are meant to go down not up Dagwood. Army had a DNF at Ngamotu and again paid for the drinks as Vinnies 83 got him over the line. |Next Thursday is the Lands Social final game at Nudgee then they have the AGM on the 7th. Front up Frogs and help out make up the numbers.

Whoa Flasher dancing. That would be a sight to see. Well done to the frogs for a clean sweep in the prizes and Plugger for sponsoring the event. There were as many played in this event as those others who played elsewhere. Wally was one. He got really excited when he played at Ashgrove. He played one round with Burger and kicked his butt 92 to 99. Then he had another round the next day and shot a 90. So feeling really good off to Oxley where he crashed and burned. A disappointing 105 bought him back to earth. Burger tried to warn him he was heading for a fall but he wouldn't listen. Plugger Squeaky & Dagwood teamed up again. Now it doesn't happen that often and after Dagwood kicked their butt both Plugger & Squeaky have told Dagwood to sleep in again. For the record it went Dagwood 93 Plugger 99 & Squeaky 97. Plugger got to get out again and well he should of had that round first. A 94 was a good improvement. Backhoe got out a couple of times at his favourite course and only one by the look of it Coolangatta. His 99 & 100 more than enough to earn him a spot in the next test against Sth Africa.

Army bought the drinks this week at Ngamotu. His 87 not good enough when Vinnie had an 83 and the other player a 72.

14th Nov

A great rollup of Frogs travelled to Plugger's home course to play in his sponsored American Foursomes day at Keperra. King Kong and his Lands partner won the day with Squeaky and partner running a close 2nd. (shame about the three 3 foot putts you missed Squeak). GR8-1 and partner were third with Hoppy and partner completing a clean sweep of Plugger's prizes. Other Frogs who didn't fare to well in sweltering conditions were Flasher, Rodent, Chopper, Rodent and Bottlo. Only one game left for the Lands boys before the off season. Rumour has it that Flasher is having dancing lessons and he's having trouble getting females to partner him. Something to do with the way he moves his hips apparently. Maybe he should try some of his stories on them. That would work.

8th Nov

Got the winner in the sweep at work and hit it at the TAB. Paid $11.80 and I had it on the nose. Collected $23.60 on TAB and $60 in the sweep. I killed it. Plugger did that to the opposition at Keperra when he had an 88. Backed that up with a 94. He was last seen running from the cops. Bruno visited Pelican Waters a couple of times this week and showed consistency with 94 & 93. Thats what it is all about Bruno. Backhoe was at last back playing at Coolagatta and unfortunately it showed that he had a lay off. His 100 flat was still better than any of the cricketers could do. Army played at Ngamotu and I am told he and his partner got their backside kicked. His 81 not doing the trick. Wally and Burger teamed up again when they got back from Kooralbyn and didn't take it to serious as they shot 94 & 98 respectively. Another week gone by so Xmas is getting closer and so is Portsea.

7th Nov

Hope everyone had a successful Melbourne Cup. I know I didn't. GR8-1 just sent me some news on Burger and Wally's trip to Kooralbyn. Sounds like Burger wrote it.

Wally and Burger travelled to Kooralbyn with a group of 20.

They teamed together and playing some no names they where 2 down standing on the water carry par 3 17th.

The opposition teed off with the better of the two on the left edge and the other dumping his in the water.

Burger and Wally had 2 shots on the hole and Burger using his 3 wood knocked it just through the back between the bunkers.

Wally, ever thinking about the couple of dollars he may lose, teed off with his PUTTER hitting it to the ladies tee where he then used a 9 iron to the back bunker.

Wally came out to 2 feet with his 2 shots securing a 4/3. The no name putted to 1 foot for a 3/3. Pressure on Burger he chipped to 2 feet and won with a 3/4.

Wally's clever play didn't help at all and should have shown some ticker and had a go off the tee.

Burger then parred the last for a 3 pointer to save the match.

Lands are off to Keperra on Friday for the Plugger sponsored American Foursomes. Always a good day hitting your partners balls into the shit. (that doesn't sound too good!!)

A couple of newbies well maybe just returnies got out over the week. Razor got out after a couple of weeks off and shot an 83 at Devonport. A 10 shot swing. Crazy after 2 months off went to a place called Gunnamatta and had a N/A. Really he had a 79 but thought it better to N/A because he would have won the comp of the day. Wally barely had a day off recently. He played Ashgrove twice for 88 & 90 then went to Wynnum for a 91. He should have been getting better not worse. Burger tagged along for a round at Ashgrove but after recording a 96 told Wally he would spell for the next couple of games. Bruno is slowly beginning to think this game of golf plays with your head. He thought he was playing better but recorded the same score as last week a 98. He couldn't understand how he played better but recorded the same score. Dagwood and Plugger joined up for a game at Keperra. For once Dagwood got out of bed earlier than normal. He didn't like it either when Plugger hit a 95 to his 97. Said he was sure he had beaten him off the stick. Army 87 and Vinnie 77 at Ngamotu but they continue to pick up the spoils and sit back and enjoy their coffees from the beaten opposition. So that is the round up for the week.

Lands Social golf comes around really quickly. No sooner have they played Oct then November is here and next week it is at Keperra on the 11th. Adios

28th Oct

Bloody Golf Link. Didn't want to connect for some reason but am there now so here goes. A couple of guys are now really starting to get game time. Wally and Dagwood must certainly have time on their side. 3 rounds in a week well close. Firstly Wally has a warm up at Ashgrove where he shoots 94 & 90 then off to Carbrook where he thought he was going to do OK. 105 shots later he felt destroyed. Dagwood just stayed at Keperra for his 3 round. Started off great with an 89 but wham back to earth with the next two. 98 & 101 left him feeling like Wally. Then we have the twice a week school. Squeaky & Plugger at Keperra bounced around. Squeaky was impressive with a pair of 86s and puffed out his chest but Plugger after a sluggish first round of 94 picked it up with the second to shoot 90 and pipped Squeaky for the winners trophy. Burger was the 3rd one to get in a couple. Both at Ashgrove where for his effort he got nothing but the satisfaction of playing. His 95 & 96 not quite cutting through to the prize table. Bruno shot 98 at Pelican Waters and walked off with a head ache. How did that happen after the week befores 86. Its called golf Bruno. Mayor played Capel and his 109 was, well lets say not to his liking nor was the course. Army 80 and Vinnie 85 continue to battle it out and on this ocassion both were winners . They were in a 3 and the third member shouted by being the losser of the split sixes. See ya.

The Lands boys headed to Nudgee for Macca's Big Bash and semi finals of club championships. GR8-1 was the only Frog still alive but unfortunately lost 2 and 1. Didn't seem to worry him too much when he carried Squeaky and his conqueror to win the Big Bash money. Bottlo Plugger and their team ran second with Plugger winning the toss of the dice to beat GR8-1 for individual honours. Both had 38pts followed by Moody on 30pts, Squeaky 29pts, Bottlo 28pts, Rodent 26pts and Hoppy 23pts. Rumour has it that there could be up to 5 new tadpoles on tour this year and a couple of originals have decided that enough is enough. Flasher is looking forward to having a new audience for his tired old stories.

18th Oct

Where have all the frogs gone, long time ago? Yes the start of a song almost but it spells out that few are getting out to enjoy a stroll at the moment. We have had one surface again down at Devonport. Razor turned up for a game had to pay his sub first then went out and shot 93. Isn't sure now if he should have played. Wet and cold but at least he fronted. Burger and Wally got in a game at Ashgrove and to show they are still good mates neither bested the other. A pair of 96s for their effort. Wally though then ditched Burger and went to The Glades where his 105 wasn't good enough for anything. One who plays at Pelican Waters called Bruno had a day to remember. His 86 was not far from the best gross of the day but was good enough to get amongst the prizes in Nett & Stabbies. Another to run high up on the gross was Army. His 79 was third and Vinnies 84 was sixth. Both played at Ngamotu and both picked up vouchers for their effort. Now last but not least was Plugger. He was the lone frog out at Keperra and his 96 showed he is on track. Just needs some others to play with so he can kick butt and lighten their pocket.

Don't forget Macca's Big Bash this Thursday. Nudgee north for a 7.30am kick off. If anyone has some news don't keep it to yourself. Let me know and then the world ( of the Frogs ) will know. You will remain anonymous. See ya.

A bit late this week so will get back to normal next. How can Bottlo win anything? Still it was good of Squeaky & Plugger to let him as that is the only way probably. Speaking of winning Backhoe got up to win his match the other day at Collangatta. Well only for the beers where he had a 90. Mayor continues to languish one day then flips it around the next. He had a 106 then 92 at Stanthorpe. Handicapper is quite confused. You wouldn't believe this but it is true. Dagwood ventured out to Bribie Island for a round and shot 103. Disheartened he returned to Keperra for another round and shot a 99. So he isn't sure if another trip away is worth it if he can't score that well. Plugger just stayed at Keperra for his 99 & 100 which he said was an improvement on his below score. Wally was consistent at Ashgrove for his two rounds of 98 & 96. Bruno was on the wrong side of the ledger with his 101 at Pelican Waters. His opponent shot his lights out and that probably won't happen again. Army was another who was on the wrong side again of the match. His 86 meant he has had the hat trick of losses.

I see that Macca's Big Bash is on next Thursday at Nudgee so put your name down and then hit it hard. Golf that is not the drinking. Until next week Cheers

Not too many Frogs at the Oxley game Vinnie. Squeaky (+2)and Matho (+3) were the only ones with the rest of us having excuses ranging from Melbourne trips to funerals. Condolences to GR8-1 and Sharon on their loss.

Squeaky, Plugger and Bottlo venture out to Kooralbyn with some pretty average scoring. Bottlo lead them with 101 and the others had predictable 109's. The course is still a bit rough, but give it a good summer and it will be back to it's best.

Keep up the good work Vinnie. Who knows, one day Plugger might get his finger out and get the new site up and running properly.

4th Oct

Well first off an apology to Squeaky. He has played a couple of times since his return from doing nothing and I did nothing in putting up his scores. So Squeaky that 102 followed by a 97 at Keperra is now recorded for eternity. Keperra also hosted another couple of frogs mainly Plugger & Dagwood. Plugger actually recored to scores being 102 & 101 so his score is going in the right direction. Dagwood had an 89 which got him into the prizes.Mayor I see had a couple of rounds at Stanthorpe and he like Plugger is heading in the right direction with a 107 then 101. Wally on the other hand slipped from an 89 to a 99 at Ashgrove and to make matters worse his opponent in the last round was Burger who shot 93 and laughed all the way to the bank. Bruno snuck in a round at Pelican Waters for a 93 then off to see the finals on the big screen. Bulldogs you are a good thing. Backhoe had another couple of rounds and didn't improve from the first to the second. A pair of 93s at Coolangatta. Well the pain just continued for Army. Because the course was closed at Ngamotu he and Vinnie visited the links course of Waitara. Off the stick Army 78 and Vinnie 81 but stableford points is what the competition was and Vinnie took it out over the field of 7.

27th Sept

Well the weather may have been fine but it didn't bring out the numbers. Razor backed up again but so did his score. His 91 at Devonport didn't win a thing. Plugger is on a walk about. He played Keperra for 100 then Barham for 109. Don't know where his next round will be. Dagwood played twice at Keperra for contrasting rounds. His first round of 97 was one he wanted to forget but his 88 was to remember. More of the right shots.Wally just played the one round again for a 99 at Ashgrove. Backhoe after thinking he was coming right showed the game is full of twists and turns. A NA and 100 at Coolangatta showed how we can come unstuck after thinking we are coming right. Bruno was out at Pelican on the same day a mate of mine was there. He said he saw a dapper guy playing and he described Bruno to a tee. Only he said this guy wasn't playing that well but a 94 I am picking was acceptable for Bruno. Army had to pay out again at Ngamotu. His 82 ran second to Vinnies 78 so he had to buy the drinks.

Dont forget Oxley this Friday for Lands Day. That is it for now.

20th Sept

Plugger and Mayor each played a couple of rounds and whilst they were miles apart their scores were almost the same. Plugger had 100 in his first round at Keperra and Mayor had the same at Stanthorpe. Then Plugger threw in a shocker for 101 whereas Mayor shot 95. Mind you Pluggers score was shot in howling winds Mayors on a warm spring day. After a couple of months off Razor went to Devonport. It has been said that he had to introduce himself to the current club members because they had forgotten who he was. But his 81 soon had them talking and he also took their money so they won't forget to quickly next time he has a break. Backhoe is stuck. He was thinking that he was improving after his practise but another 90 means its the same old same old. Bruno got out again at Pelican Waters and while he seemed OK his 95 could have been better. Putter is letting him down. Get a lesson from Bottlo Bruno. On second thoughts. Dagwood slowed up a bit this week. Just one round at Keperra for a 99. Vinnie on the other hand had two rounds over the WE. Just as bad as each other. 88 at Ngamotu and 89 at Westown. Still there is hope on the horizon. That is it until next week when I will have more to report on as the weather takes a turn for the best and more get out there. Hope I haven't spoken to soon. Cheers

14th Sept

A birdie told me that Bottlo only got 41 pts because he closed his eyes when he putted and it worked. It is a way of getting over the yips. As for Plugger well he had a couple of rounds earlier than Nudgee and was just a little jaded. He shot 108 & 97 at Keperra. Mayor went back to Stanthorpe and posted a respectable 94 for 36 points so he is over Nudgee. Dagwood got in a couple more games at Keperra and he was consistent with 98 & 96. Talking of consistency Vinnie had another 90 at Ngamotu but it was still good enough to take the money of Army who shot 86. Conditions were such that had they played on the PGA tour they would have had a weather delay. Backhoe shot a reasonable 90 around Coolangatta and said his practise may just be starting to pay dividends. One summer does not a summer make Backhoe.

Last but not least we had Wally hitting out at Ashgrove. He put up a 93 but it wasn't good enough to finish in the top 10 so he is going out again either tomorrow or Friday. Good Luck.

9th Sept

Lands played at Nudgee and had a small rollup of Frogs. Bottlo outshone his rivals with a solid 41 stab pts and got the bickies. Sumo was second with 39pts, followed by Rodent 38pts, Dinky 37pts, Hoppy 36pts, GR8-1 34pts and won his match play 4/3. The Mayor made a surprise appearance and had his usual 27 pts and bringing up the rear as usual was Plugger with a lowly 20 pts. You'd think he'd improve with the amount of golf he plays.

Squeaky has finished his Canada part of his trip and is off to Hawaii for a well earned rest and dry out. (Looking a bit aged in his facebook photos). And a get well soon to Chopper who's been a bit crook. Moody is overseas somewhere and King Kong thinks bowls is more important than golf. And who knows what Flasher is up to.

6th Sept

Another week but same story.. Not many out playing but one who has had his 3rd game this year is Crazy. As he lives just around the corner from the Dunes he and Lorraine decided to spend an enjoyable Sunday afternoon playing golf. He has started to get the bug again. A 96 was OK as there were no throws or breaks. Bruno played Pelican Waters again to show he isn't afraid of the place. His 91 shows he holds no fear of it. Now these next 4 gentlemen have some time on their hands. Dagwood played twice at Keperra during the week and shot contrasting rounds, 102 then 92. Backhoe also played twice during the week. Both at Coolangatta for 94 then 90. Wally well he can play anytime and he did at Ashgrove and had 104 & 99. Now Plugger I thought wouldn't be able to play during the week but play he did twice for 93 & 104. So thats those retired gentlemen. Vinnie played twice as well but on Saturday & Sunday for 78 & 86 at Fitzroy and Ngamotu respectively. So thats it, again. Bottlo still needs to hear from some of you frogs whether you can get along to Nudgee. Will be a good day and even I can vouch for the course. It is well worth playing even if you play a lot in one round. You get your moneys worth.30th Aug

Well another week has gone by. Nothing really happening on the courses as few are out at the moment. Only the die hards like Bruno who once again played at his likable course of Pelican Waters. He shot 98 for his effort. Mayor visited Boonah and was rewarded with a 98 also. As it is in the Scenic Rim he said he just enjoyed the scenery and forgot about his game. You could tell.Now I am not sure what is what with the next three. They all recorded N/As Dagwood at Keperra, Burger at Ashgrove and Plugger at Keperra. It is still 6 mths out from the trip so it isn't as if they can get their handicaps to suit just yet. Must have got tired and picked. Actually that is a bit rough on Plugger as he did record a score with another round at Keperra of 108. Army and Vinnie jumped in on a vacant tee time two ahead of when they should have. As a result they hadn't done any warm ups and the scores showed. Army's 86 was still better than Vinnies 92. Still there is another Saturday this week. Well looks like a WE off from watching the AFL so no excuses for people not to get out and play. Rain might be the only one. Good bye from the Cake Tin.

24th Aug

A moment silence for Bottlo. He still can't master the putting. I heard on the grape vine his drives were like the train track across the Nullabor long, excuse the pun, and straight but putts were like a cork screw. Still time is on his side. Now for those who play a little more regular. None more so than Wally who played Ashgrove for a 98 and then Nudgee for a 102. I think he is doing a little scouting there as that's where the next Lands Social day is. Burger only played Ashgrove where he recorded a 96. Wally didn't invite him to Nudgee. Dagwood got out a couple times at Keperra and showed he can still play with a 91 but then butchered his next round for 103. Vinnie was another to get in a couple of rounds. After getting his butt kicked in the club champs losing 5/4 after shooting 87 he followed up the next day with a 90 at Stratford. Talk about a choker and butcher all rolled into one. Best of the days round went to Army with an 80 but don't ask me if he won his match. Packed up and went to the races where he lost heavily. Bruno I see didn't play play on his sponsors day either that or Bottlo forgot him. Anyway he did post a 92 at Pelican waters and that could have been on his day. Mayor ran hot at Stanthorpe which is what he said he would do one day, just not sure which day. He had an 89. Backhoe is stuck. Well another 95 means he hasn't got better or worse from his last round. Last but not least we have Plugger. He smashed it around the park and fell one short of the ton. Out for 99 and Keperra was the winner. As I mentioned somewhere above Nudgee in a couple of weeks from tomorrow so get out there Frogs. Oh congratulations to Sumo.

Lands travelled to Bruno's home course Pelican Waters and not to many Frogs came away with a decent score. (Don't know how he plays this course every week. Way to hard for us hackers). Dinky led the way with 31pts, then GR8-1 and Chelsea 27pts, Bottlo and Plugger 25pts, Moody 24pts, King Kong 22pts, and a pathetic 16pts from the Rodent. Those to frightened to show up and have a go were Flasher, Chopper and Hoppy. Squeaky is still terrorising the pensioners in Canada and Sumo was wetting his new grandchild's head in Melbourne. Oh how a week of sunshine makes you feel better. Crazy was looking out the window as the sun shone down and said to Lorraine lets go for a round of golf. Off to Wodonga and 95 shots later it was all over. Not sure when the next round is but it was a start. He actually paved the way for both Wally & Backhoe. Both had 95s at their respective courses of Ashgrove and Coolangatta and when they finished they both wondered how they shot that when they felt so good. Then we had a run of 100s from Bruno, at Pelican Waters the same course the Lands Social event is at this week and of which he is the sponsor so all front up. Dagwood at Keperra and he said he felt like Steve Waugh at the G and Plugger also at Keperra where he said he could match Dagwood . The last one was the Mayor who not only shot 100 but had another round for 105 and both at Stanthorpe. I liked his comment afterwards when he said he was only getting his moneys worth.

Army and Vinnie won the beers at Ngamotu, well coffee anyway. Both shot 81s and both qualified for the match play champs, so it gets serious.

Also down to the serious side of the Olympics as well where some spirited efforts will reap the rewards. Go the ABs, oh that's right they went out before the quarter finals. So go the Lions. May they record more wins than last years 4. That's right they play AFL and aren't at the Olympics.

9th August

Weather has turned nasty on both sides of the Tasman. The temperature hit a lofty 7 degrees last Saturday at Ngamotu and the wind was blowing harder than Armys horse after a solid work out. In fact play was called off because of the high winds but only after Army recorded a 92 and Vinnie an 86. Players later in the day were weak.

And then I was listening to a broadcast on the radio about the weather over the ditch and they said it was that cold that a man got stuck to a railing when he peed against it. Do you believe that. Mayor didn't get cold as he played a couple of rounds at Stanthorpe. He shot 93 & 96 so said it was acceptable. Has to be Mayor because it is what it is. Not sure about Backhoe. He had a NA and 103 at Coolangatta. The NA was because he was so cold he called it quits early. Dagwood got a full two rounds in at Keperra. 104 & 97 and he said he was wearing shorts. Go figure. Burger also got a couple of rounds in. 91 at Ashgrove but faltered at Redcliffe for a 98. Was also late getting there as he was meant to play in the Lands day but got the date wrong. Wally went off to Gailes and shot his worst round for a while. 112 would have been 111 Nelson but for 3 putts on the last.

Last but least Plugger & Squeaky decided a game at Keperra to finish the week would be just what the doctor ordered. So away they go, Squeaky just getting there with his 97 over Pluggers 103. Talking to Plugger he said he wanted to send Squeaky off a winner but it was hard because Squeaky was just playing bad and not thinking about the game. Wonder why?

Olympics are on now so look out for someone you may know in the audience.

2nd August

First of all this week is another congratulations to all the frogs who fronted for both the Woodford trip and the Redcliffe day. Good to see so many out playing and some scoring well, at last.

Bruno got out after those two games to Pelican Waters but unfortunately tiredness set in on the back nine after shooting the lights out on the front nine and ended up with a round 100. Mayor who was missing in action at both Lands days and club days finally appeared at Stanthorpe where he recorded a respectable 92. Another to have respectable round was Dagwood at Keperra where he shot 93. Another 93 was recorded by Squeaky also at Keperra and hopefully he will enjoy Canada. Burger played a round at Keperra but he wasn't up to his normal self on the course and shot 105. He got back on track the next time out which was at Ashgrove where he shot 94. Plugger had a couple of games at Keperra and he was very relaxed shooting 94 & 100. He said he didn't want to keep on winning like he did at Woodford.

Army and Vinnie have been joined at the hip lately playing Ngamotu. Army tees off the blues and Vinnie the whites. Seniors for Army, Intermediates for Vinnie. Second hole Army has hit a monster down the middle only to be told wrong tee. Shots par with his second ball but he loses the hole. So he ends up with an 84 to Vinnies 79 and Army buys the drinks.

1st August

It's been a very social time for the Lands club. We travelled to Woodford for the annual bus trip and a great day was had by all. Best of the Frogs were Plugger and Freddy who won runner up for the day (secret partners). Also enjoying the day were Bottlo, Dinky (who had 48pts and still couldn't win), Squeaky, Chelsea, GR8-1, Rodent, King Kong, Moody, Sumo and Bruno.

Last Friday we were off to Redcliffe for the Dinky and Sumo sponsored 4ball ambrose after a relaxing BBQ by the bay. Chelsea and GR8-1 were in the winning group, and Hoppy was part of the runner up group. Squeaky and King Kong ran third then came the group with Bottlo, Sumo and Moody (they were never going to win). Bruno and Dinky didn't play up to expectations, Rodent drew a bad team and Chopper finished in the wooden spoon team.

Squeaky is off to Canada on Thursday and has left the clubs finances in the capable hands of Bottlo. Party time..hic

Oh, by the way, Bottlo (and 3 workmates) are off to visit GR8-1 at Chinchilla next week. Just love Chinchilla..

27th July

Well the numbers dropped this week. Only a half dozen brave soles hit the fairways around the traps. Dagwood cracked the ton with a 104 around Keperra.He said playing was the main thing. Plugger was also out, not hung over and said he should have been. He said it hurt more than last week as he shot 107, Backhoe hit a 98 around Coolangatta and he is seriously thinking about a visit to the pro. Another who should do that is Vinnie. A trip to the sunny side of the island saw him play Napier Golf Club where in near perfect conditions he shot a 90.

Last but not least, the continuing battle between Burger and Wally. As is the norm now they go out for a round at Ashgrove and on this occasion Wally prevailed with a 96 over Burgers 101. Wally then went out the next day for a 98.

Lands Social game this Friday 29th at Redcliffe preceded by a BBQ 10 = 10.30 am BBQ then high noon tee off. Sound good so all frogs who can tear themselves away from work should attend. What better way to go, a bite to eat a game of golf and drinks afterwards. That sounds like a frogs trip. See you next week.

20th July

Start out this week with a congratulations to Army on his team winning the Senior Invitational Pennants on the WE. He had a practise round on Saturday where he had a 79 against Vinnies 84 but they still lost their match. His 79 was only bettered by 5 others and the highest handicap of those was on a 5. Then there were three 1 handicappers and a +1 so it wasn't a bad effort.

Wally and Burger got out to play a few rounds between them. One thing Wally did was make it easy to tell you his scores. He had a trifecta. Two 98s at Ashgrove and one at Carbrook. Burger just played the two at Ashgrove for 89 & 96 and is basking in the glory of his two wins. Backhoe who plays at Coolangatta if you haven't figured it out shot a 94 then a 104. He said it wasn't 10 shots harder the next day but I figure if you were 10 shots worse then it was.Plugger and Dagwood had a round at Keperra together at long last. No it wasn't Dagwood who got out of bed earlier than normal. It was Plugger who slept in after a harder than usual night. Anyway away they went and at the end it was Plugger 96 against Dagwoods 103. So you see playing with a hangover does have a positive effect, sometimes. Mayor was back to his normal at Stanthorpe. Long crooked drives and superb recovery shots mixed with up and down chips and putts. I thought he was describing Bubba Watson until he said the score which was a 96.Then I realised he was only comparing himself to Bubba because of them both being lefties. At least you are playing. 12th July.

Having problems with Golf link at the moment so scores can't be shown for all. However a couple can. Vinnie & Armys scores looked like cricket scores. Vinnie went 89 & 91 and Army 87. Neither won anything and you wouldn't think they should either.

Hopefully Golflink will be up and running tomorrow so some can get redemption from there Nudge game. Back up again and there is a real mixture of scores none more so than Mayor. Hows this for his three rounds at Stanthorpe. They go like this 100, 96 then 86. You see the old adage here. Practise makes for better golf.. Not quite the same for Plugger who had 106 & 107 at Keperra but playing is the main thing. Dagwood also played at Keperra and got in 3 rounds. He was 99,101 & 96. These winter conditions have an effect on our golf. Wally & Burger maybe played on fine days as they hit out twice at Ashgrove and shared the honours. Wally lost the first day with 92 to Burgers 91 then won the second with an impressive 85 to Burgers also impressive round of 87. These two are now going tit for tat with their wins. Squeaky and Chelsea, yes he made it back from Yeppoon had a hit out at Keperra. Chelsea showed that his holiday gave him some extra vim and he shot 94 to Squeaky's 99. Lucky Squeaky had to take off and drive the bus instead of staying in the club rooms having to shout.. Backhoe didn't venture far, again. He had a 97 at Coolangatta. Still nothing about Hoppy or Moody so I hope they aren't trying to sneak in under the radar next year. Last but not least Bruno had a round at Pelican Waters for a 92. He mentioned that he is trying something new so don't expect the good scores for just a little while longer.

11th July

Lands played club championships at Nudgee with only GR8-1 winning his match play for the Frogs. Losers included Dinky, Rodent and Sumo.

Stab points for the day weren't to hot with GR8-1 and Chopper leading the way with 33pts, then Dinky and Hoppy on 31pts, Bottlo 29pts, King Kong 28pts, Sumo and Moody 27pts, Rodent 25pts and Flasher on 23pts.

Moody was big noting early with two 4 pointers and a three pointer in 3 holes but had his colours lowered by Bottlo for the rest of the round. (Hope you learnt something from this Moody)

5th July

Did you know Chelsea went on Holiday. Well he did and he went up nort played Yeppoon and shot 97. Said it wasn't that hot either. Razor got in a game of two halves at Devonport. However they were both the same, bad and he shot 93. Don't worry Razor everyone has a bad one sometime. You will get better next time. Actually another who was disappointed with his round was Mayor. After settling back into his routine, which I am told starts at 8.30 am when he gets out of bed, he played again at Stanthorpe and his 103 was not what he envisaged. Backhoe must have been talking to Mayor as he matched his 103 at Coolangatta before he dropped another round in of 99. Ashgrove saw both Wally & Burger play a round and this time Wally won the bragging rights and the drinks. Wally 98 Burger 100. Another pair played at Keperra. Squeaky and Dagwood. To Squeakys horror Dagwood taught him a lesson. Dagwood 91 Squeaky 95 so Squeaky is off for a lesson next week to see where he can improve. Another who should get a lesson but won't is Vinnie. An 88 then 85 over the weekend both at Ngamotu shows his game is not there. Was it ever. Army was only slightly better with an 86 and he lost to Vinnie and his partner. Well he lost Vinnies partner as he shot a 2 under 70. Vinnie just went for the ride.

Don't forget Lands Social game at Nudgee this Friday. Has anyone seen Harby or has he faded away under his training programme? National Language week so its Ya minyah & Ka Kiti Ano.

Poor old Kiwis. Only took 3 days and a great umpiring decision to put them in their place. Third Umpires name Long. Need we say more.

All eyes are now on Nudgee North this Thursday to see if Squeaky can pull off something other then the GR8-1. The time honoured Lands club championship is awaiting him. Good luck Squeak. (you might need it)

Same number played this week as last, 10. Bruno had another of those N/As at Pelican Waters so I am not sure what is happening there. GR_81 would have liked one of those at North Lakes. He recorded a 98 and said that he was unlucky all the way around. Heard that story before GR_81. Grumpy is showing some form around Flinders. An 84 put him right in contention to win comp of the day. (Will he front in February??) Dagwood ,(is he going next year), because he is playing a lot of golf in one round. 106 & 99 at Keperra. Unfortunately so is Plugger who had 111 at Keperra. (Still the more you practise the better you get). Backhoe,if he was playing cricket, would have raised his bat. 100 at Coolangatta. Wally, still not accompanied by Burger, played Ashgrove and shot 87, He is waiting for Burger to resurface and said he would give him a lesson on how to play. Squeaky did a warm up for his big match at Keppera and shot 94. Said it was just a couple of shots to iron out and then its all go. Army and Vinnie played out a half at Ngamotu in the sunshine for a pair of 79's. Vinnie then played Manukorihi on Sunday and shot 76.

Well what a turn up for the older guys. Peter Senior winning the Australian Master at 56. Some people know how to stick with it Bottlo.

For us ordinary aged golfers here are some scores that we posted. Crazy actually didn't post. It was an N/A at Kilmore. I have to aplogise to Grumpy. He hadn't played in so long that I didn't look for a while until tonight and low and behold he started again in Sept. All at Flinders he has had 99, 92, 86, 96, 89 & 92. Good to see you back Grumpy. The next one to come back will be Harby. Nothing from him since February. Mayor has once again played at Stanthorpe and shot 93. Dagwood ducked out twice this week, both times to Keperra where he shot 98 & 102. Backhoe hasn't ventured far. He went to Cloolangatta Tweed Heads for a 92. Wally played Ashgrove for 90 and Pacific for 98 and once again no show for Burger. Plugger who like Dagwood got a couple of games away. Both Keperra for 109, 110 and he was accompanied by Squeaky for one of those round where he shot 97. Army had an 82 at Ngamotu in the rain. Pom played Tauranga not Huntingdale for a 92. Vinnie played a 36 hole event at Manukorhi for 77 & 81 in continuous rain.

Next Thursday Lands social at Nudgee North 8am start. Final club Champs so good luck Squeaky. Final round of Patrons Trophy and for those who are left it is single Stableford.

A good rollup of Frogs at the Lands 'Life Members' day. Plugger and partner ran second in the 2 ball ambrose. Hoppy and partner were third and Bottlo ran fourth with his partner. Others to show up were Squeaky, Flasher, Chelsea, Chopper, Sumo, Bruno, Rodent and Moody. (Shit, that's half the field.) Must be getting close to Bellarine.

More frogs played in your event Bottlo than for themselves,so they are showing you some respect.

Mayor played a couple of times at Stanthorpe earlier in the month but it has taken a few days to travel down the line to the Golf link site. He had 87 & 88. Bruno had a N/A at Pelican Waters and to show he can go out in sympathy Backhoe had one at Coolangatta. Dagwood was the lone soldier at Keperra where he had an 89.Wally played his normal course Ashgrove for a 93 and Burger still hasn't been sighted. You may recall last week I mentioned that Crazy was on the mend. A round at Garfield for an 88 shows he's back. Was only pussy footing around. Army 80 and Vinnie 81 at Ngamotu where it was that good a day that golf was only secondary to the scenery.. Yeah right. Pom has become a member of Tauranga and he shot 92 on his second visit as a member. So that is it again for now and yes you have already worked it out I know but for those who haven't 14 weeks to go. Numbers are down again. GR81 showed he lacks practise. A 90 around Twin Waters. Backhoe went to Coolangatta for a 101. Hoppy & Moody were there again I think. Dagwood slotted in two rounds,both between morning tea and afternoon tea, where he had 98 & 105 at Keperra. Also playing at Keperra were Squeaky , who nearly got finished before Dagwood started, had a 99 and then Plugger got a couple of rounds away for 105 & 104 and they have been trying to get in a round with Dagwood. Wally got in a couple of rounds at Ashgove, still no Burger, for 88 & 91 then travelled to Wynnum where he had another 91. Razor got in another round at Devonport for an 83. Two weekends in a row now.

Army played Ngamotu where he shot 80 mid field and Pom played Tauranga for a 91, his handicap will get hit. Vinnie played like a drunk at Ngamotu for an 89 and he continues to go out.

Crazy is on the mend and should be ready for golf one day. Just don't know which. As for Dinky we just have to keep hoping for him. I know some will say there is no hope but I believe there is. Lands Social Golf is at Keperra this Friday 13th and is Life Members Sponsers day so go hard on Bottlos money.

No surprises Squeaky getting through. The surprise is GR81 losing.

Not so good news about Dinky. You can do it Dinky and we all know that Bottlo will make sure is capable of going. Even if it is for the drinks cart driver.

Now for some golf news. Wally sneaked out for a round without Burger knowing at Ashgrove and shot 96. Burger didn't get a game in anywhere. Razor continues to front Devonport for his practise and shot 85. Seems his handicap is going out so watch him at Ballerine. Another who is showing signs of going out is Plugger. Another round at Keperra for 106 so he will get to his optimum handicap then watch out.Two others played at Keperra. Squeaky accompanied Plugger and shot 95 while Dagwood continues to play gentleman hours teeing off at 11.50am after a sleep in. He also shot 95. Bruno, who will share the driving with Squeaky, shot 101 at Pelican Waters. Main thing here is he is getting in valuable game time.. Backhoe missed Hoppy but still played a round at Coolangatta with Moody where he recorded a 99. Still nothing on Moody. Army and Vinnie played at Ngamotu where they tied with 36 stabbies each. Army shooting 79 Vinnie 82. Yes there was a game of rugby on the WE and we will leave it at that.

Big news from the Lands day is that GR8-1 was beaten in his semi final of the club championship and SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!! Squeaky won his and advances to the final. (what is this club coming to). Other Frogs to make an appearance were Hoppy, Sumo & Rodent. Not sure how they scored but no winners amongst them. Dinky and Bottlo are still recovering from leg surgery. Bottlo will be right to go at Keperra for the next Lands day while Dinky has had a minor setback with his recovery. Hopefully will be right for Bellarine. Can caddy for Bottlo if he hasn't healed by then.

Plugger tells me we have a couple more tadpoles making the trip to Bellarine. At least 28 of us now. The more the merrier I say. The revised itinerary is now posted. All is looking good for another great trip.

27th Oct

We have seen the return of GR81 to Twin Waters. His score of 85 reflected the fact that work comes before play. One who requires a bit of work is Backhoe. He has so much time on his hands that he shot 102 this week around Coolangatta. He would have had less if he was working. Wouldn;t have had the time to stay on the course for so long. Mayor on the other hand likes his retirement. Two rounds at Stanthorpe for 91 & 99. Plugger also got a couple of rounds in and rather than shot a different score shot a pair of 104s at Keperra. Squeaky managed to get a round in with Plugger for a 96. For a change Burger got in more rounds than Wally. His first round saw him play with the GR81 at Twin Waters for a 97 then two rounds at Ashgrove with Wally for 95 & 100. Wally shot 93 & 90 then sat back and drank his winnings.Bruno was out at Pelican Waters for a 95 so good to see his is becoming a regular again. Razor has also almost become a regular as well as he was at Devonport again where he shot 83. Vinnie travelled to the other side of the Island and played Bridge Pa where he shot an 84. Army has struck a rich vain of form. Another solid round of 76 at Ngamotu. Pom played Tauranga where he recorded a 97. Wasn't happy with that so is going to have a lesson on putting. Lands Social club played Nudgee North for the Maccas Big Bash. Bottlo will let us know how it went seeing as he is back in charge??? Kwaheri

There has been a flurry of activity from two frogs who have been missing for over a month. Wally & Burger fronted up again and here is how it went. Wally went 104 at Nudgee then 94 & 96 at Ashgrove before going to Oxley for a 101. Burger decided to play his 3 rounds at Ashgrove where he had a pair of 93s then 100. Razor played a couple of rounds at his beloved Devonport where he shot 81 & 83. Only one score out of Keperra and that was Plugger who had a cool 105. What are the others from Keperra up to? Bruno again played Pelican Waters and put it to the sword. Had an 85 and but for a couple of missed short putts could have been much better. Stanthorpe again was the setting for Mayor to front up and crack out a good score. He had 98 so is still working on his game. Trial and error its called Mayor. Backhoe has settled back into his routine. Work around home in the morning then off to golf in the afternoon at Coolangatta. He shot 97 at his last visit. Still no mention of Hoppy and Moody who play there as well with Backhoe. Army was the only one to get a game in over in the Land of the Long White cloud. A 77 at Ngamotu saw him run 3rd gross and 5th nett over the field. Mweraba

Welcome back Bottlo. Didn't pick the winner ha. Well you will one day. Now back to some winners!!. Bruno played his normal Pelican Waters but had 95 but wasn't happy with that. Could have been better. Crazy shot 90 at Bright but it wasn't that sort of score. He wasn't happy with that. Backhoe played in the sunshine at Coolangatta for a 96. A little happier than Crazy. Mayor was not enthused over his 105 at Stanthorpe, Only got happy after the game. Dagwood and Squeaky battled around Keperra and shot 97 and 100 respectively. Wasn't a very good day though so that didn't help. Army has started again and shot 80 at Ngamotu. Not sure how he felt. Pom traveled to Hamilton and played Riverside Lochiel where he shot a 90 so he was a little happier. Vinnie shot 87 at Ngamotu. Wasn't happy with that but did win the Intermediate Match play. Happy with that. Make you feel better Bottlo. Again welcome back and that could extend to others as well soon as some frogs are hibernating at the moment. Oh and by the way I heard it is 2 nil to the pigs over Dinky. Get well quickly Dinky. Vaya con Dios

I'm back from my epic journey around Australia. Hawthorn ruined yet another Grand final but the Broncos and Cowboys put on a beauty. Good to see Vinnie's still hasn't got his comedy routine right yet. Maybe by Bellarine we'll have something to laugh at.

5th Oct

Not long between posts but a few things happen over the WE in case you missed it. The Hawks swooped on the Eagles and roughed up their feathers. Watched that. The Broncos ran second to the Cowboys. Saw part of that. But to top it off the Wallabies put the POMS out of the World Cup. Watched that.

Now for the more sedate part, golf. Lands Social club played a bisque at Oxley and 7 frogs fronted. Another well organised day and Bottlo could be done out of a job. Hardly likely though. Anyway Sumo, Squeaky and Moody played well enough to be equal 3rd with +2. Rodent & GR81 were one further back +1. Plugger was -1 and then Chelsea put in a tail end Charlie effort for -3. A good day on a great course. Seem to have a few of those spread out across the country.

Plugger got in an extra game at Keperra where he had 105. Crazy has started to spread his wings again. Played Rosebud for 94 then Trafalgar for 93. Mayor stayed at home and played Stanthorpe for 100 and Backhoe did the same. Stayed at home of course at Coolangatta why wouldn't you for 94. Razor has fronted for the second week in a row where he shot 81 at Devonport. Army Pom and Vinnie didn't get a game in. Don't want to peak to early. Au revoir.

2nd Oct

We have seen some players getting in some practise and others having a spell. Wally & Burger are spelling and Plugger is practising. He had rounds of 113, 111,101 & 100 at Keperra so is going in the right direction reducing as he works it out. We have also seen the return of Chelsea and he needs some practise with 95 & 96 at Keperra. Squeaky shot a pair of 101s at Keperra to make Chelsea feel better. To finish of with the last Keperra terror was Dagwood and he shot a 103 so things are tough at the moment at Keperra .Not feeling to good at the moment with new clubs is Crazy. Went to a tough course called Drouin and shot 94. Razor introduced himself to his clubs at Devonport and shot 87. Backhoe continues to get re-aquainted with Coolangatta where he shot 98. Bruno shot a 95 at Pelican Waters but for his putting woes it could have been an 84.

Army is resting up. Pom only played a round at Tauranga and shot 94 and Vinnie had 83 at Hawera & 86 at Ngamotu.

Well not sure who will win the Grand Final but go the winner and Bottlo don't disgrace us and invade the pitch.

22nd Sept

Things are back to normal now. Not to many out playing and the weather fine on one side of the Tasman, wet and miserable the other. Anyway those who did get were the following. Backhoe at Coolangatta shot 98. Magnificent course worthy of playing, Backhoe just enjoyed his day he said. Don't know if Moody and Hoppy played but word has it that they are regulars so will be looking at their handicap come Feb. Bottlo keep that in mind. Mayor went to Inglewood a lovely course and shot 103. Hard drive home. Bruno wasn't quite in the same form as he was at Nudgee. He played Pelican Waters. Shot 93. Then Plugger and Squeaky played Keperra. Don't know who they played but with Squeaky 99 and Plugger 106, they may not have won their match. Crazy played with new clubs at Bradford and shot 83. His 9 iron and 4 iron were unplayable. Turns out that the head of the clubs hadn't been glued well enough. I know sounds an unlikely story but its true. Only got to hit one shot with each and although they both went straight the heads were twisted when he looked down at them. Now the GR81s score for Nudgee hasn't shown up. So I think he shot something like 79. Well it looked good from the opposition stood so that will do. Bruno was the same something like an 80. Army got out at Ngamotu and shot 83. Somehow he manged to halve the match against Vinnie who had 82. So it was coffees all round. Pom who is back on the scene played Tauranga where he shot 97.

14th Sept

Well it is back to the same old same old, work and play golf at the WE. Had an enjoyable Lands Day at Nudgee Thursday. Not sure of the winners but GR81 and Bruno did the frogs proud and were runners up with 61 net, 4 ball best ball. They also picked up NTP on 3 holes. Bruno twice and he converted both to two and GR81 one but his putt was not quite as close so he just parred it. A number of other frogs fronted including Squeaky, Plugger, Sumo, Chopper, Rodent and Vinnie. Well done Squeaky, an excellent day well run. Thanks GR81 & Bruno for letting Rodent & I lose gracefully.

Then there were others who played over the last two weeks. As I was away enjoying the brilliant weather I forgot to post last weeks scores. Hard to do when the sun shines and you are on holiday. So here we go, and we start with Mayor, who went to see the Lions by the way win at the Gabba on Sat 5th. He played Stanthorpe again for rounds of 98 & 97. Then we have Backhoe who played at Coolangatta for a pair of 102. Happened to catch up with Backhoe and he was looking healthy after his trip. Moody wasn't at home so it was only a talk to him on the phone. He had been out playing with Hoppy. Wally has cut back on his golf lately as he only had 1 round at Ashgrove for a 97. So it was left to Burger to up his play which he did. He played Ashgrove twice for 94 & 95 then Redcliffe for a 104. Razor seems to play better after his break, is that an omen, as he had a 79 at Devonport. Plugger played Keperra 3 times where he had 107 & 102 then with Vinnie as an opponent 112. Squeaky had 103 and 94 and not sure of his score when he played as Pluggers partner against Vinnie 87 & Whistle ? Squeaky and Plugger halved with Whistle and Vinnie. Also ran into King Kong and Bottlo on Saturday at the Lions game. I have now seen 25% of the Lions wins this year. By the way Bottlo was putting the sh*t on everyone at the game so don't ever think you are the only one. If he doesn't put it on you, then you are the only one. That won't happen.

Again only a few out playing. Bruno has started to light it up at Pelican Waters. After an indifferent 96 he turned in an 86 and looks like hes back. Mayor played Ulvestone, no not Galverstone and shot a pair of 107s so maybe he is singing for his supper after that. Dagwood played you guessed it Keperra for 95 & 100. Backhoe was also out twice at Coolangatta and shot 89 & 93. Wally and Burger got together and played at both Ashgrove & Carbrook. Wally had 92 & 97 and Burger 90 & 108. One all.Squeaky gave Keperra a fright and turned up to play and play he did 103. Army & Vinnie fronted the Spicers Masters Tournament played at Fitzroy Sat & Ngamotu Sun. Army had 78 & 90 and Vinnie 75 & 81. So thats it for now and I will be taking time out next week as I will be playing Keperra & Nudgee North. I will be able to report on the Lands Social day the following week Bottlo.

24th August

Well the numbers have dropped of again as only a few played, Mayor travelled some distance to play his game. Down to see Razor in Tassie and put him to the sword. Well it happened as Mayor shoot 98 Razor 93 meant that Mayor with his shots got the game over early and they headed to the bar. One to celebrate, the other to drown his sorrows.Another to give a good old fashion hiding to was Burger over Wally, well in one round anyway. Burger 86 Wally 90. Then for the rematch and it was all square each shooting a 96. Burger then for the first time since when, went to Indooroopilly where he had a Nelson 111. Joined Wally who had one the week before.Then Keperra saw the presence of both Plugger & Dagwood. Plugger. had a 106 to start with and then a N/A as he is worried if he put the card in he would drop his handicap. Dagwood had a couple of rounds for 90 & 92. Army got out at Ngamotu for a 75 where he ran second in the comp and Vinnie had an 86 where he ran 32 but won his match for a spot in the semis of the club champs.. So we await results from Lands day before Bottlo goes on his trip in just under two weeks. Will he be aloud back in the country, thats the question. Bye for now.

17th August

Something has happened, don't ask me what but I can do some editing. Now I am doing this from another computer so when I get home and try on my own laptop I may find out that my luck runs out. I do notice that no one has jumped in the deep end so I will continue until the person nominated takes up the task.

Who will that be, well time will tell.

Scores from the last 3 weeks will be recorded later tonight with any luck. 3 weeks now and I will be over.

I am now doing this from home. Had to do this through a new browser and it is working. Can even do colour. Let the fun again. I am like a kid with a new toy.

Now for scores and although I have been off air for a while really not to many players got out there. However Burger is an exception. All these at Ashgrove 98, 96, 93, 97 and 94. Wally only played twice with him for 91 & 95 and he went to Royal Queensland where he had a Nelson 111, Plugger got 3 rounds in at Keperra and had a mixed bag. 103 then 99 and back to 102. Mayor played his usual Stanthorpe with green grass all over the show not a flake of snow. Perhaps the scoring didn't reflect the fine weather as he had 91, 97 and 96. Bruno only got in one round at Pelican Waters where he had 96. Backhoe is back in the country after his overseas trip and he played none other than, Coolangatta, where he scored a 100. Crazy has slipped a little and shot 83 at Burnley. Razor only got one round in at Devonport and shot 85. Then we had Squeaky & Matho, (you remember Chelsea) at Keperra where they had 89 & 97 respectively.

Army only played once for 79 at Ngamotu and Vinnie twice. Once at Te Puke for 88 then Ngamotu for 81.

I would report on a Lands Social event that is coming up but unlike this editor who has fixed his problem that editor is still to fix his.

27th July

Must be cold still in the Sunshine State as only 4 were out playing. Wally didn't even get one game in so Burger had to play two rounds on his own at Ashgrove where he went 100 & 93. Plugger warmed up at Keperra as he had 109. Said he would have had less if it was warmer just had to keep swing to stave of the cold. Dagwood did the same actually as he had 98 also at Keperra. Bruno braved it at Pelican Waters and shot 99. He was telling me that he was going to shoot the ton but remebered you had to doff your cap and he wanted to keep his on he was that cold. Then down where the sun did shine Crazy shot a hot 72 at Royal Burnley. In the Land of the Long White Cloud Army playing in the top dog lost his match, He had to give 18 shots to one opponent and 11 to the other. On the 6th hole one of his opponents holed in 1 for a net 0. He gave Army his shot before he even teed off. Army went onto shot 82. Then Vinne playing in the first round of the club champs matchplay won 6/4 and shot 90. Opponent was even worse so luck does come into play in golf. Until next time Good Bye

20th july

A strange occurance happened in the Sunshine State very recently. Snow in Stanthorpe. Thats not just a couple of flakes but a good dumping. They say you could ski through the streets and on the golf course it was more like a ski field. Can understand going south to the Murray or Bellarine now. Speaking of Stanthorpe the Mayor showing a liking for the cold had a couple of rounds. 96 then 92, The Lands boys would have felt at home then. Bruno I think played in the sunshine as he scored a 92. Then there were multipule rounds recorded by a few other frogs who obviously don't feel the cold either. The traditional rounds of Wally vrs Burger took place a a very familiar course Ashgrove where Wally decided that Burger needed a couple of lessons. Wally 94 & 84 Burger 102 & 101. Two up to Wally. Plugger got in two rounds at Keperra for 107 & 100 so had thawed out for his second round. Dagwood was just as adventurous and went to Keperra where he had 96 & 91. The last of the Keperra players who played during the week Squeaky was out for 93.Razor was out in brilliant sunshine he tells me at Devonport. Temperature in the mid 20s and shot a hot 82 . Nearly everyone scored more than the POMS in their second innings so I am picking next week there will be some even lower numbers, Army and Vinnie continue to be stuck at Ngamotu. After another rain off Saturday they played Sunday for 84 & 81 respectivley. No thats not a mistake for Vinnies score. It shocked him as well. Arriva Derci

Dinky and Sumo sponsored the Lands american foursomes day at Redcliffe. After a bloody freezing BBQ down by the bay, a good rollup of Frogs ventured up to the course and judging by the scores not many warmed up on the course. Bottlo was the exception and won the day with Dinky coming second. (Doesn't that sound familiar). Other Frogs to brave the cold were Plugger, Squeaky, Chopper, Moody, Hoppy, Flasher, Bruno, Sumo, Rodent and new tadpole Rod Humphreys. (nickname to be determined)

13th July

Quick report today as there were only 6 brave enough venture out in sub zero temperatures. Well it was over here but we had a 100% turnout. Army had rounds of 78 atNgamotu and 76 at Manukorihi where he kicked butt in the matchplay event. Vinnie just chopped his way around Ngamotu for 90 & 94. However he also won thanks to his partner.

Now to the warmer climate where 4 fronted and three of those played at least twice. Dagwood dragged his butt around Keperra for 101 & 104. Plugger also played Keperra for a 97. Then to make it a hat trick Wally visited Keperra where he had a 96 but then the call of Burger dragged him back to play Ashgrove where surprisingly they took it easy on each other. Wally 95 Burger 94 then Wally 97 and Burger 99 so it was all square.

Can't get into the Lands calander anymore so don't know whats coming up there so eyes open somewhere else. Alvida.

8th July

We have seen the return of Chelsea who fronted at Keperra where he had a reasonable 90. Must have had a day off the line umpiring. Then there were the other Keperra Terrors. Plugger, Squeaky and Dagwood. Squeaky and Dagwood couldn't be seperated. Both had 99. Plugger whipped them with a 95 but then went out for a second round as wasn't quite with it 102. Backhoe before the journey overseas played somewhere called Colangatta and to show he needs a rest shot 104. Mayor was out twice at Stanthorpe and was a model of consistency (can that be right) for 93 & 95.. Another to have two rounds was Wally, Burger only got one round in with him. So it was Wally 95 Burger 91 but in his second round Wally was 99. Both played at Ashgrove. Bruno has been out again at Pelican waters for 100. Crazy who is over the rush played at a sedate rate around Royal Burley for 80. Army and Vinnie continue to play Ngamotu however one played OK and the other well the less said the better. Army 76 for second and Vinnie 91 second last. Note that both were second. So that is it for now.

29th June

Lands played at Nudgee with the GR8-1 sponsoring the 'Chinchilla Tourist Park' single stab and 1st round of club championships. Squeaky (no, it wasn't rigged) won the day with 40 pts. Other Frogs supporting the day were Bottlo, Flasher, Chopper, Hoppy, Rodent, Plugger and the great man himself. Bottlo won his matchplay while Rodent and Flasher were losers.

Thanks Botllo for your report. Did you play a one armed blind golfer because you had a serious injury not so long ago?

Anyway here are some other scores where there were no losers only winners by being there. Wally as he normally does had more than 1 hit out. Played Ashgrove twice for 87 & 93 then had a hit out at Pacific where he shot 104.Someone should te ll Mayor that being retired means more rounds of golf not a lot in one. He has reappeared at Tenterfield where he had 108 then Stanthorpe for 104. Should be dropping. Crazy is busy at work but managed to take a saturday off to play Royal Burnley where he had 79. Reflects the pressure of work. Dagwood on the other hand is a man of leisure and played Keperra for a 98. Army & Vinnie paired up and paid the price for not gelling. Army 86 Vinnie 83 and the winners were paid. Plugger had a round to remember at Keperra an 84 (46 points ) but then slipped out of the winners circle with a 98. Burger played a couple of identical rounds at Keperra a pair of 98s and Wally said he is going to retire on his winnings.

Now to report on more important things golf or lack of it from some. I have heard that the weather has played a big part in curtailing golf over the ditch. Well I have to say the same occured over here this WE after I told Squeaky that we haven't had a rain off this year. Shouldn't have said a thing. Anyway we had a few out and that is at it is. Wally played 3 rounds, 2 at Ashgrove for 95 & 97 and then Bribie Island for another 97. Burger played Ashgrove for 108 & 94. Don't you let Burger know when you are playing elsewhere Wally. Backhoe once again ventured out at Coolangatta for a 97 and is thinking of playing somewhere else. Still to decide where. Dagwood got to play twice at Keperra before the big wet. He had 101 & 91. Bruno was out at Pelican Waters for a 98 and then Razor had a hit out at Devonport where he recorded an 81. Vinnie after the rain off Sat played Sunday for an 84.

Finally have some Lands results from the dreaded St Lucia day. GR8-1 tied for 1st place with 38 pts followed by Rodent 33pts, Dinky 32pts, Hoppy 32pts, Plugger 31pts, Sumo 30pts, Squeaky 29pts and Moody and Bruno 27pts. Bottlo returned a NCR/DNF/WAP according to Plugger. Ist round of club Championships are on Thursday with only Bottlo, Rodent and Flasher having to play a match. The other Frogs all have byes.

15th June

Winter has hit some places as is evident by the temperature. Well with the number not playing it appears that way. Only 4 from out of Brisbane played. One was Razer who battled around Devonport for an 84. Then Army played around a cold,miserable & wind blown Ngamotu for an 83 and Vinnie for an 81. Finally Crazy aorund an equally bad Burnley for 78.

Then from the sunny Queensland there were only 7 who could get out. Mayor had two hit outs at Stanthorpe for 93 & 97. Dagwood was also out twice at Keperra for 93 & 101. To top them both off though was Wally who had a couple of rounds with Burger at Ashgrove for 110 & 94 and then off to Woolford for 97. Burger continues to stick with just two rounds a week some self control there where he shot 103 and a no score. Then Backhoe who was out at his favourite Coolangatte for a 98. Last of all Plugger who has pulled together another splendid venue for next year was out at Keperra where he recorded a 102.

For now thats it.

9th June

Bottlo would love to report on the Lands day, but due to an unfortunate cart accident he only lasted 3 holes before being taken from the course with a suspected broken ankle. Couldn't work out why emergency staff were having a laugh when I arrived at the hospital until the receptionist told me they were expecting someone from a vehicle accident. Apparently a golf cart is a vehicle. Anyway, xrays revealed no break and I hobbled out of hospital a wee bit embarrassed about all the fuss over a sprained ankle. (thought I'd get that in before Plugger has his say). I'm sure Squeaky will send you something Vinnie. Says it all Bottlo. Hard luck.

8th June

Bottlo will with any luck remember what happened at the Lands Day, one hopes.

For others who played elsewhere I can report on those results. Some will have stories as to why their scores where what they were and if someone lets me know I can explain why they were that way. Enough of the pre amble we get under way as quite a few fronted during the week. The GR81 visited Keperra to see how the Keperra terrors were doing only to suffer the terror of a bad round. A 92 sent him home winless. On the other hand Dagwood had a 94 and with shoots well. Plugger did that plugged away and had a 108 during the week end but redeamed himself with a 99 when playing with the others. Squeaky matched Pluggers 99 and Keperra course won the day. Wally and Burger continue playing together at Ashgrove and Burger towelled up Wally. 89 Burger 103 Wally. Good to see Bruno out at Pelican Waters where he recorded a 102. Crazy hit it around Burnley for a 76. The Mayor was out again at Stanthorpe and shot a 96. Then there were two who played Ngamotu and the result Army 79 Vinnie 78. Thats it for now Ka Kiti Ano

2nd June

Wilston Grange Social Golf Club had a W E away a couple of weeks ago. Rumor has it that they miss behaved but in true spirit of the frogs, of those who were there, no one was arrested. Golf was on the agenda but social, as is part of the clubs name, meant that apart from one or maybe two scores the rest are better left unsaid. However on the social side there were performances that would have proved worthy of a frogs trip and Bottlo would have had serious issues keeping up. Oh and by the way only Squeaky, Chelsea , Freddy and Plugger went but who did what is all speculation and it will be left at that.

Now for those who actually played golf recently and Plugger was one. He had a 102 at Keppera. Backhoe showed a bit of form and shot 91 at Coolangatta. Dagwood at Keppera shot a pair of 98s and that is a hat trick for him. Wally was all around him with a 99 & 97 at Ashgrove before heading to St Lucia for a 91. Burger was again only given the chance to play Ashgrove where he had 90 & 108. We have seen the return of Mayor and GR81. Mayor was out at Warwicks for 104 then Stanthorpe for 92 and GR81 shot 84 at Twin Waters. Crazy was a bit erratic at Royal Burnley where he had an 80. Vinnie played Ngamotu Sat for 82 and Sun for 84 where as Army only played Sat for a 79 and 8th place in the field of 85.

Lands day this friday at St Lucia and then to the Pinapple Hotel for all the could have should have session. Normal story next week Bottlo?

25th May

OK yeah I should have known a drink was on it. Sorry Bottlo. Rooming arrangements are negotiable I heard by the way.

Razor has got back out again and a lack of playing showed. He had a 90 at Devonport. We had a familiar score from Bruno playing Pelican Waters, Dagwood at Keperra and Backhoe at Coolangatta. All three had 98s. Wally always the showman reversed the numbers for an 89 at Ashgrove and Burger joined him for a well compiled 100. Crazy played at Royal Burnley where he had 77. Then acroos the Tasman Army & Vinnie were busy playing both Sat & Sun. Army won the Sat comp with a 74 gross net 66 then played two rounds Sun for 82 & 80. Vinnie shot 81 Sat then Sun gross 79 net 70 for 3rd.

18th May

Lands played a 4ball multiplier at Howeston and not too many Frogs showed up. Those that did didn't set the world on fire. Bottlo and partner had a meager 58pts between them. Squeaky and partner and Hoppy and partner didn't do so well either. And Vinnie, you're right. Firing at the pin is just the norm, but the difference with us is that it was worth a 6 pack if you could win them. Duhhhh

Bottlo, Dinky, Sumo and Squeaky have booked their flights for next year. Will be good to see Sumo return and bunk down with Vinnie. Zzzzzzz

Couple of new faces this week. GR81 was out at Twin Waters where he shot 79 and still didn't win the money. Bruno played Pelican Waters where he had a 92 and also paid the piper. Crazy played Royal Burnley in the scratch pennants and won 4/3 over his opponent and the team beat the previously unbeaten Mandalay. Local knowledge helps on that course. Dagwood shot 91 & 100 around Keperra. The second round should have been better he thought. Don't we all.

Backhoe still hasn't ventured far. Played Coolangatta again where he had a 101. Wally didn't venture far either. 3 rounds at Ashgrove where he went 88, 97 & 98. Should have been coming down Wally not going the other way. Burger also played Ashgrove and went in the same order 94 & 96. Plugger has settled a bit and only 1 game at Keperra where he had a 101.

Army returned from the good old US of A with a new driver and shot 84 around Ngamotu. He played in the company of Vinnie who had his trusty old driver and shot 81.

Bottlo will put up the results of the Lands day at Howeston which was Stableford multiplication & fire at the pins day. I thought the fire at the pins was just the norm. I know most do when they shoot for the green. Is this different Bottlo? Anyway thats it and until next time Antio.

Anyway a lot better attendance this week but still a few who are missing a round or two. Must the season for AFL or something.

So those who did front we had Wally and Burger both playinf two rounds at Ashgrove. Wally a pair of 89's and Burger 99 & 100.Plugger fronted Keperra wher he almost mirrored Burger. 99 but then 102..A welcome back to Squeaky. He had a 93 at Keperra and the other Keperra stalwart Dagwood had a 93. There is one other called Chelsea who used to play at Keperra but he hasn't fronted for a while. Crazy was BACK into it at Burnley where he had a 77. Looks like his back will shortly be all OK. Backhoe went to Coolangatta for a 93. Last but not least Vinnie fronted Ngamotu for an 83.

4th May

Well very short and sweet this week. Mayor 94 at Stanthorpe and Vinnie 80 at Ngamotu. Am trying to get this back to black but can't at moment. Duhhh that was hard to change...Duhh is right Blotto how did you do it? Just as a matter of interest I still can't change colour my end. Has anyone come up with a venue for next year???

28th April

Trying to do the scores and the dam link is either down or gone on holiday as I have been waiting for 10 mins to get one score up and nothing. So I can only say bad luck Moody for the loss to Bottlo. On this side Vinnie played Fri Sat & Sunday. Friday was a 7 under par 65 at Ngamotu (Ambrose though) Sat was 84 and Sun 79. 38 points for second on Sun. More to come shortly. Tried again this morning 29th and the site is still unavailable. What going on over there? Working on the site itis what they were doing. Wally got out to play Ashgrove on his own for a 93.

Crazy has been out again rather gingerly at Burnely where he had an 87. GR81 came into town to play Twin Waters where he had an 80. Dagwood was inspired to play two rounds at Keperra where he had 92 & 89 and Plugger followed suit where he had 101 and an 86 must have won something. Just to show he can play two rounds as well Squeaky joined in at Keperra with Plugger & Dagwood and he shot 84 & 87. Backhoe is still playing at Coolangatta where he had 96. And that folks is that for now. Until next week.

27 April

Lands played at Wolston Park and most frogs performed pretty well. Hoppy had the best stab score with 42pts, followed by Moody and Bottlo with 39pts. Bruno found some form with 37pts. Others were GR8-1 34pts, Dinky & Rodent 33pts and Squeaky with a poor 31pts. Bottlo's score was enough to win the secret partner draw and beat Moody to collect the wine. (Moody wasn't too happy about that)

The darting Frogs are back in action tonight, which is a good thing I think.

20th April

One might be interested in knowing how Crazy is. Well true to the specialists report he said you will only be off for 6 weeks and then you can get back into it. Well 6 weeks and 2 days later Crazy fronts Royal Burnley where he shoots 81. Who would have believed it that he would listen to the specialist but he did. Bruno was back at Pelican Waters where he had an 89. Backhoe got out to play Coolangatta and had 95. Now Burger has taken a shine to a couple of games a week now. He was at Ashgrove and had a pair of 102s. Wally was out only once for a change and he had a 92. Plugger was the only other frog out last week and he played alone at Keperra, devoid of frogs company but he did have other club members in his four. Anyway he shot a 98. Then we had Army and his mate playing at Ngamotu where they opposed Vinnie and his mate. Army 80 Vinnie 81 but Army bought the beers. Vinnies mate shot par 72 and they cleaned up.

By the way Vinnie is no longer a criminal. The court has accepted his explanation that he didn't own the car that incurred all the fines. He sold it last year but didn't get the name of the buyer and didn't do his part of the change of ownership. However after 3 months of rangling he received a letter today saying they believe him. Another thing , thats it for Army for the time being as he is away in the good old US of A from Wednesday.

Wolston Park Golf Club for the Lands day on this Friday 24th 8am so don't be late as its a 2 man aggregate Stbfd event.

14th April

Lands Social had a very sucessful day and there was a wide range of scoring. Best of the lot was Squeaky 88/66 and in ascending order Hoppy 93/70, GR81 82/71, Rodent 99/73, Summo 93/74, Dinky 91/75, Bottlo 95/80, Bruno 95/80 and Flasher 126/90. That is a dam good turn out for the frogs.

GR81 backed up at Twin Waters for 84. Bruno also backed up at Pelican Waters for 101. Star of the moment and newly retired Mayor showed that retirement may well suit him as he shot 87 at Stanthorpe and thats the best he has had for a while. Dagwood played Keperra for 89 and Plugger did the same for a 101. Wally played Wantima and obviously it is harder than Ashgrove as he shot 106. Backhoe scored a N/A at Coolangatta. Razor fully recovered now shot a 79 at Devonport. Squeaky was out at Keperra where he shot a 91 and Matho/Chelsea accompanied him for an 89. In the Land of the Long White Cloud Army and Vinnie played Ngamuto. Army 87 Vinnie 82. Then Vinnie played Westown on the Sunday where he shot 81. And he ends the results for this week. Next week who knows until then Despedida.

Sad news about your mother Bottlo. Everyones thoughts are with you. Never easy however remember all those good times.

Bruno has made a comeback. He was out at his favourite course Pelican Waters for a 93 so Lands boys watch out. Mayor returned to Stanthorpe and unfortunately his bad habit caught up with him. Hit the ball LONG but wide and he had a 103. Another to hit it a long way was Army and he shot a 78 around Ngamotu. The last of the long hitters out was Razor and he is showing some consistency at Devonport where he had another 81. Then the shorter hitters starting with Wally where he hit it around at Ashgrove for a 96. Burger once again accompanied him and he had a 96 as well. Vinnie had a road down south where he played Waikanae for an 80 and then Mirimar for an 83 and won the NTP.

Reckon Vinnie's computer must of crashed again. Hope it's not as fatal as his pathetic Kiwis. Thanks for returning that $100 sheep shagger..hehe. Lands have club championship qualifying this Thursday and rumour has it that Bruno is making a welcomed return to the fairways.

No didn't crash Bottlo only took time to get over the shock of you beating us. That was one all and I don't mind returning the $100...yeah right.

Now that I have recovered we had a poor turn out for the week. Perhaps people are waiting for Lands day. Anyway Mayor fronted at the unfamiliar course of Warwick and shot 97. Talking of unfamiliar places Wally turned up at Keperra and to his horror shot the Nelson 111. Recovered at Ashgrove where he had 94. Backhoe was back at Coolangatta for a 94. Burger accompanied Wally at Ashgrove where he had a 106. Then the Keperra terrors Plugger and Squeaky played at their home course for 93 & 85 respectively.

Army and Vinnie also played their home course Ngamotu and they had 83 & 86 respectively. Quick and simple tonight.

23 March

Just heard from Vinnie that his computer has crashed like the Pommie cricket team, so there will not be an official update this week. No doubt he will be back next week with more stories that no one can quite understand. I think he said he played twice last weekend.

Am back up and running quicker than I thought so here's this weeks efforts. Yes I played twice and usless both times. 83 at Ngamotu and 78 at Inglewood. Army also shot 83 at Ngamotu. Wally seems to have grown another leg..He played 4 rounds at Ashgrove for 102,97,91 & 89 then 105 at Pacific. The scores descended at Ashgrove but blew out at Pacific. Burger was only able to accompany him on two occassions 107 & 98. Plugger threw in a couple of rounds at Keperra for 91 & 92.

Then there were those who only had one round. Razor has emerged as a threat for next year as a golfer. 81 at Devonport.Even Mayor was blown away he had an 89 at Stanthorpe.Squeaky played Keperra for an 84. I wonder if he stops at the course for practise on his way to work Seems to pay off if he does. Dagwood ventured to Headland and shot 98. Last but not least is Backhoe who fronted at Coolangatta but no score recorded. So thats it until next time. Oh by the way Black Caps have made the final of the world cup.

First off I have to aplogise for costing some one a New Lexus. When I go onto golf link to see your scores if you haven't been on there for a while it pops with a question before your score shows. It says " do you want to win a Lexus" In order for me to get your score I have to say no and it then links to your score. Now I am sure one of you would have won one by now had i not answered no. Again my apologise. Get in before me and you can answer yes and get it.

The Wilston Grange boys played Gainsborough Greens in a 4 BBB .Plugger decided to give everyone a golf lesson and how.In his normal calm manor he took Chelsea under his wing as a partner and proceeded to have 41 points. Chelsea had 36 and their combined score was a winning total of 49 points. Squeaky had 36 but his partner went on holiday somewhere on the course. Plugger also won the inaugural Captains Cup. Mayor shot 89 at Stanthorpe and he won the comp, maybe. Backhoe is staying local at the moment. Coolangatta where he shot 92. Wally and Burger continue to keep each other company at Ashgrove. Wally shot 102 & 97 where as Burger shot 100 & 95 so it looks like he has the wood on Wally at the moment; Razor has made a bit of a comeback. He had an 82 at Devonport so could his horrors be over?

Army had a 79 at Ngamotu to secure 4th place and Vinnie had an 85 to remain insecure in the club champs.

Crazy is doing well and will be back playing golf in 6 weeks??? Lands played last Frdiay and Blotto is still deciding how to report on his performance.

Yes Vinnie, Lands played an ambrose at Keperra which was sponsored by Plugger. Moody's recent good form helped his team win the day. Other Frogs to show up without setting the world on fire were Bottlo, Sumo (who committed to next years trip) Squeaky, Plugger, Chopper, Rodent, Hoppy and Flasher. Now for a good 3 week break from the stupid game..yippee

Back on deck now. Took a couple of weeks to recover and a thanks to all frogs for the fun. We start with Crazy. Went in for his op and his road to recovery has begun so no golf now for a couple of months. Grumpy actually got to play at Royal Burnley on the Sat before the frogs started and shot a memorable 76. Mayor has decided only one round a week now and he played his normal Stanthorpe for a 100. Dagwood on the other hand has just keeps on going. A 105 & 90 at Keperra. Backhoe played Coolangatta for a 90. Now Wally has played more golf lately than we played on the trip ( and covered as much ground). 105 at Oxley, 99 & 103 at Ashgrove and 93 at Nudgee. Burger hung in there for the two at Ashgrove where he had 96 & 98. Razor has got over his very trying week at Rich River and has started to play golf again. An 85 at Devonport which wasn't to bad. Squeaky has thrown in a couple of rounds at Keperra for 99 & 89 (and they say he had a smile a mile wide). Still must be thinking of R R. Chelsea also threw in two rounds but wasn't smiling. 102 & 87. Oops I think Squeaky was smiling because he took Chelseas money. Army has only gotten in two games since his return. 85 & 84 at Ngamotu. Vinnie has managed 3 rounds. two 81s at Ngamotu and 82 at Te Ngutu.

So its now back to the normal routine and if anyone has some story let me know I will print it. Oh and by the way Bottlo thanks for the donation. I knew we couldn't lose ??? phew.

Lands boys were back into it at Carbrook playing a new game called the Money Ball. Might be one we can look at for next years Frogs trip. Anyway, Plugger and Bottlo were in the winning group and Plugger also won the single event with 42 pts. Bottlo had 30pts, Squeaky 39 pts, Rodent 38pts, Moody 36 pts, and Sumo 32 pts. We are backing up this Friday with an ambrose, then a well earned rest for the social frogs.

2 March

Results for RR have been posted on the results page. Thanks to Plugger for organising another successful trip (shame Bendigo Golf Club didn't play the game) I hope you all had a safe journey home. Oh, and well done to the Kiwis in the cricket. What a pathetic batting display by the Aussies. (your $100 is on the way to the Frogs account Vinnie) Apologies for my pathetic golf over the week. Having the yips from tee to green doesn't make for a fun trip. But thanks for your company over the week.

Only a week to go before we are all together again. The final handicaps have been sorted and the draw for the match play looks interesting. Plugger will email these plus the room allocations to you sometime this week. (Match play draw is on the 2015-Rich River page). Plugger has announced some interesting room allocations. How will Dinky survive Harby and Gunsynd?? Squeaky gets his boyhood dream and is rooming with the GR8-1. How will Rodent react and who get's GR8-1's morning coffee?? So get your last minute practice for golf and socialising in this week and we'll see ya at Rich River. And Vinnie, I might be slow, but I'm organised...hic well Plugger is, I just help.

There seems to be a flurry of activity in the lead up to R R. A number have recorded multiple games since last week so either their game is in poor shape or they are playing well and want to continue it that way. Leading the way is Plugger. All at Keperra where he recorded 94,100 & 96. DAgwood must have accompanied him but for only two rounds where he had 102 & 88. He will be tired now though. Wally even though he isn't coming decided to play at three different courses. Ashgrove for a 100, Redcliffe for a 102 and Gailes for 106. He may as well front R R with that amount of travel. Burger got out twice at Ashgrove for 95 & 103. Even Mayor got out twice and has shown some form. a 95 then 89 at Stanthorpe. Razor has lost his way. He recorded an 88 at Devonport and is now worried his brother in law will beat him off the stick. Back to Keperra where we had Squeaky reocrding a 98 and Matho a 95. Crazy who will be there 4 out of five days shot the lights out at Burnley. No all the bulbs are intact but the coursetook a hammering. He shot a 69 and we will leave it at that. Vinnie picked up on one hole but still recorded 35 points and ran 3rd in the comp. The wind was blowing harder than his horse. Wouldn't be hard though she won race 4 at the greyhounds on Saturday.

9th Feb and 2 weeks out,

Starting off today with the terrible foursome from Keperra. Squeaky, Dagwood, new tadpole Matho and Plugger. The scores were 90, 86, 86 and a pair of 94s for Plugger. These guys have been getting some regular golf lately so watch out there could be a sleeping giant from this lot. Harby has fronted again so there is no surprise there any more. RQ is where he played for a 90. Another who could have been a sleeping giant is Razor. Was showing some good form and then out of the blue bangs in an 87 at Devonport. Still form is temporary class is perminant. Wally the no show just went to Ashgrove on his own this week for a 97. See he's missing his mates already. Crazy informs me his N/A last week was because of a nine hole event. When he plays his second nine it will be added together and an 18 hole score will show. Talk about a delayed effort. Anyway his 18 hole score around Royal Burnley was 71. He also went to Mandalay where does he find these courses - sound like it should be in India and shot 82 yesterday. Army was out at Ngamotu where he did some practise on the par 3 6th. Ten shots to sink the ball. O/B twice. Still had and 82 so all the other holes were OK. Vinnie is also getting in some practise. An 82 on Friday followed by a 79 on Saturday.

Others are now either waiting for the next Lands Social day to hone their skills or having time off until R R. Remember to become a member of R R and you can get your discounts straight away. One man has already got his and some one said to me once that he was rather slow. I didn't believe him Bottlo. Until next time when the last reports come in my lips are sealed.

2nd Feb

Lands opened their season with a stroke event at Virginia and judging by the scores there's a lot of work to be done over the next 3 weeks. GR8-1 led the FROGS with an 83 followed by 'the dark horse' Moody 95, Squeaky and Sumo 96, Dinky (without hernia) 99, Rodent and Hoppy 101, Plugger 102 and Flasher 111. Chopper is on another holiday and Bottlo is tapering with a suspect back. And who knows what Harby is doing. Probably preparing some one liners for Vinnie and crew now that his favourite target Wally has given us the flick. One more game at Carbrook before we head down to the river. Getting a bit excited...Bottlo is actually evading WADA/ASADA as he undergoes a doping regime one thinks.

Good to see the above thanks Bottlo. For those who didn't play have a go at Carbrook.

We had others who played around the traps. Army at Ngamotu and Manukorihi for 81 & 85. The team he played in at Manu won the best gross to win The Foreman Trophy. They were nearly 40 shots clear in the gross and 10 clear in the nett. Vinnie just played Ngamotu for a DQ 80. There is a dispute regarding the DQ as he may not have been playing from O/B. The pegs had been removed for a tournament and not put back but were supposed to be. Is he O/B if it isn't marked but meant to be? Yes according to some. Crazy had a N/A at Burnely. Don't know what happened there but he also had a 70 though earlier in the piece. Mayor was out again at Stanthorpe where he hit 105. Didn't hit them all though as penalties count. Would have had a 95.

Harby has fronted again. Becoming a habit Harby but not a bad one though. Had a 91 at RQ. Dagwood was at it again at Keperra where he had a 94. Wally just played Ashgrove for 95, he will miss us. Plugger played Keperra for a 96 and is now getting ready for R R where he and his offsider Bottlo will have it sorted. Squeaky also played Keperra for a 92 so he is sharpening up. Matho also at Keperra for a 93. Looks like everyone is joining Keperra. Perhaps not actually as Backhoe played Coolangatta for a 96. So there we go until next time.

28th Jan

Just in, Squeaky and new tadpole Matho have suffered a set back in their preparation for R R. At Keperra today, they suffered a humiliating loss at the hands of Plugger and a surgeon and were carved up 4/3. Evidently Matho is questioning Squeakys credentials so we will have to wait until the Lands day now to find out if they are scarred or can make a come back.

27th Jan

Ki Ora. We are on the countdown 3 weeks and 3 days for a couple of us and 3 weeks 5 days for others. Bottlo will give a report on the Lands Social days and that should provide a guide as to who is doing what from there. We will probably see some familiar names from that day like Flasher, Moody, Rodent, Chopper, Emu and Dinky to name some. Does his 2 iron by the way still hit it further than Bottlos driver?

From the Golf Link site I can tell you the following. Squeaky now he has a handicap and he is starting to show signs of do I win or do I get my handicap out. He had an 89 at Keperra the other day. So he's up and down and confused. Crazy I am not sure of either. Shoots 74 at Royal Burnley then 93 at Amstel. Whats the story. Will probably say he slipped in a bunker and put his back out. Actually thats what did happen. Harby fronted the other day at R Q where he had a meritoriuos 90 after having a long break. Now he's trying to cram in some practise rounds prior to R R. GR81 played a couple of rounds at Twin Waters for 81 & 85, Just playing it steady now. Dagwood got out at a course called. you guessed it, Keperra for a 94 and Plugger also had a hit out at Keperra for a 98.No travelling for Wally this week. He stuck to Ashgrove with Burger and shot 96. Burger slipped in a 91 a took the money. Backhoe played in the cool of Coolangatta where he hit the ton 101 to be precise.

Army took a rest and left it to Vinnie who shot an 80 at Ngamotu. Until next week my lips are sealed but if you have some dirt let me know. I can always do a rethink especially this close to R R.

20th Jan

Happy New Year fellow Frogs. Not long to go until we hit the fairways of Rich River. I hear that there is water in the dams this year. My favourite memory (and only one) of Rich River is Mayor having an air swing with his driver after a few too many coldies. Plugger tells me that we could be down to 22 players at the moment with Bruno, his Bro in law and Flasher's fantasy friend not being able to make the trip.

Lands start up again on the 30th Jan and will have a couple of warm up games to tune our games before RR. I'll be having a close look at the handicaps for the non AGU handicap player's this year, so watch out Chopper, I'm onto you..hehe. Enough from me, see you in a month.

Report in from GR8-1:

Harby joined Burger and Wally with me at Twin last Wednesday. Both Harby and Burger had 35 with Harby having 22 on the back and Burger having a 2 for 5pts on 11. Wally and Harby played together and lost $10 each.

Harbys 5 a 3 on the last saved them 10. Wally had 28 and I had 34. After playing with Harby I think Wally realized what he was missing out on by not going to the Frogs. Wally also went onto play Ashgrove for a 94 then Riverlakes for another 94. Burger just played Ashgrove for a 109.

Squeaky's 45 the week before might be worth a mention as defending Frog champ he may have peaked a bit early. (Maybe his pathetic handicap helped). He did drop in a 93 at Keperra following the 45 the week before so it is confusing. What is he trying to do.

Then we have Crazy who hasn't peaked yet because he had an 88 at RACV Cape Shanck. By the way he is a confirmed for RR. Dagwood is warming up having had a 101 at Keperra. Plugger is actually practising during the round as he a 107 & 97 at Keperra but it could have been better. Backhoe still plays Coolangatta and had a 94. Razor is now showing a more balanced game. He shot a 76 at Devonport so if he holds onto that form he will be one to keep an eye on.

Army is also starting to come into a RICH vain of form. A 77 at Ngamotu and 74 at Waitara. Vinnie on the other hand just can't put it together. An 82 at Ngamotu and 76 at Waitara.

Starting off with Wilston Grange Social golf where some frogs disgraced themselves gracefully and another just disgraced the field. They played a multiplier. Plugger teamed up with Dagwoods son Tim and they played OK but could only manage 78. Squeaky & new tadpole Matho were a little better with 84. However our dear Freddy & Whistle put together 123. Well done Freddy. Blotto is going to miss you again.

My comment about GR81s form triggered the response it should have. A pair of 81s at Twin Waters means his form is now stable. Burger on the other hand is now the up and down player. An 88 and then a 99 at Ashgrove. Perhaps his playing partner Wally could fall into this category as he shot 100 then 91. Not sure about Plugger as he had a N/A and 103 both at Keperra. Mayor had a handy 94 at Stanthorpe.

Army and Vinnie continue to play Ngamotu where Army posted an 81 and Vinnie an 80. Vinnie also played Fitzroy today for a 75.

Well it isn't long to go and for those who aren't counting 6 weeks out. I hope your practise is coming along and when we hit Rich River the fun will start.

5th Jan 15

And now it really starts. 7 weeks out and there are some, who by the look of it, are trying to increase their handicap. Take Army for example. An 87 at his home track Ngamotu one day then in a competion a 78. Vinnie . He shot an 85 and then a 79 in the competion. Then we have Crazy shooting a 79 at Royal Burnley with all his clubs in 41 degree heat. He shot better than that with only 4 last week and one had to be a putter .

Then those who are looking good. Razor continues with his vain of form and shoots 79 at Devonport. Mayor has also struck it nicely. A 92 at Stanthorpe sees his handicap dropping. Backhoe stays the same as he had a 92 at Coolangatta. The GR81 who is still playiing Twin Waters shot a 81 so he is a little up and down at the moment.

Well I trust you all had a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year. Yes we are under way for 2015 and only 7 weeks out from Rich River and another golfing experience. Pool as well for some.

We have another frog who has joined a club. Squeaky has joined Keperra and is already tearing it up, his cards that is so he can come in under the radar. Well the handicapper at Keperra is onto him so he will not be on anything other than what he should be. We done Squeaky for your 112. Crazy didn't get a xmas present, so gave himself one. 3 rounds in 3 days for N/As at Howlong & Amstel and a 79 at Wodonga. Another to have a N/A was Dagwood at Keperra. Don't know if it's a catching thing. Burger and Wally started the New Year in style at Ashgrove. Burger 94 & Wally 90. Played today 01/01/2015.

Mayor must be holidaying as he played at Tenterfield for a 103. Razor is showing form and could be the low man. A 77 at Devonport. GR81 continues to stay put at Twin Waters where he shot his second 88 in a row.

Vinnie did better than his horse. He shot 81 & 82 at Ngamotu. Horse just needs one shot and that would be it. Army also played Ngamotu twice for 85 & 80.

As I said we are under way, so get out there, start putting your game to the test.

24th Dec

Is the day before Xmas and a lot of food in the house. Only a few played which means all the presents have been bought. As I mentioned in the last report Merry Xmas to all and have a Happy New Year.

Of those who got out a couple of us probably would like to have stopped at home. Vinnie cruised around Ngamotu in a cart and still shot 86. Army didn't shoot much better. An 83 for him. GR81 found Twin Waters a little harder this week as he shot 88. Razor on the other hand shot 81 at Devonport so he felt good. Plugger hooked in a game at Keperra for a 96. Dagwood followed in the footsteps of Plugger at Keperra where he had a 93.

Then we had Wally & Burger who played two rounds together at Ashgrove. Wally went 95 & 92 . Burger 100 & 102.

16th Dec

Another week closer and the numbers have dropped off. So it suggests that everyone is doing something else like Xmas shopping. Those who haven't given up just yet include you guessed it Wally the wonderer. Played Ashgrove twice for 96 & 88 then off to Virginia, no its a golf course, where he had a 102. Burger again only played the two rounds at Ashgrove where he had 100 & 96. Crazy probably drove himself that when having a 78 around Royal Burnely. What a lovely little course that is. Mayor is still hanging in there at Stanthorpe and he shot 97. Dagwood and Plugger slugged it out at Keperra. Not sure who won but Dagwood 93 and Plugger 104. Razor slipped a bit at Devonport from his last outing but still managed 82. Talking of slipping, Vinnie did it again at Ngamotu both Sat & Sun. Shot 85 Sat & 82 Sunday so sucessfully missed out on winning any xmas hams in 7 outings. Useless. Army played marginally better Sat for a 79 but couldn't match Vinnie on Sun where he had an 83. Both got what Paddy shot at.

Next week will be the last before Xmas and some may go away before Xmas so I would like to say everyone have a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year and all be safe. Be responsible, drink and don't drive, unless it is a golf ball.

So Vinnie, your horse ran as well as you play pool. Promised a lot and delivered little. Hopefully it will be improved by the run.

Can I thank you for the fine effort in keeping the FROGS updated on what's going on. And a Merry Xmas to you and the family and I can't wait to have a coldie with you in Rich River. Bottlo.

There is an enquiry going on as I write, !! what happened to her !!. Don't trust a trainer, they spin more yarns than Bottlo on any given night on the frogs tour. Will have that cold beer with you.

No problem with the reports Bottlo there are alway just enough who will play and we go from there as you know. Well done to you for doing the Lands Social reports as it gives others (those of us not invited) a chance to see who is trying to sneak under the radar for Rich River.

Now for those who get out there in rain hail or snow thats over here and sunshine over there. I am not picking on Wally but has he got any roots. Back to wondering. Ashgrove for a 99 but then Gailes for 102. where does he find these places. Crazy just sticks to Royal Burnely where he had a 71. GR81 also stayed at home Twin Waters where he had an 82. (CONGRATULATIONS by the way). Mayor decided two rounds are better than one and showed the benefit in the second round. Both at Stanthorpe he went 93 then 89. Dagwood posted a score at Keperra of 88 and golf link showed Plugger played but didn't post a score. Did he burgle a prize and doesn't want anyone to know. Razor is showing some good form at Devonport. Shot a 79 in the wind & rain I was speaking of. Burger not to be forgotten was out with Wally at Ashgrove for an 89. Meanwhile Army and Vinnie shot 77 & 78 respectively in the closed xmas hamper at Ngamotu. Still don't know if they won anything.

GR8-1 goes back to back...Lands played their last game for the year and the highlight was GR8-1's win in the matchplay final (2 up). Frogs fared pretty well on the day with burglar Chopper making a return visit after his operation to run second with 42 points. (Will have to have serious look at his handicap before Rich River). Dinky's 2 iron served him well with 39pts. Hoppy and Sumo had 38pts, Bottlo and GR8-1 37pts, Squeaky 36pts, Moody 35pts, Plugger 33pts and Rodent 32pts. Now it's time to rest up over the Xmas period before preparing for the Rich River onslaught. Good luck with your horse Vinnie. I'm hoping to win my drinking money at Rich River on it..

Lands Social Golf has its final hit out this Thurs 4th at Nudgee North 8am start. Word has it that Dinky is going to take his trusted 2 iron and give it work over. Doesn't take long to fall in love with a club. For the others who are going to be there look after him if it all goes wrong. Good golfing lads. I am sure Blotto will see it goes right for the last event.

Rodent has yet to disclose his Golflink number so if any one know it ,let us know and we can report on his progress. Could be the dark horse now he's retired.

Now for those who play on a more regular basis. Wally for example after finding Pacific tough went back to Ashgrove where he teamed up with Burger and blew them all away. Wally 86 and Burger 96. Crazy continues to battle his schedule at work and the percentage has dropped slightly on him getting to Rich River. But he did play Royal Burnley for a scratchy 72. GR81 after his lesson from Harby returned to Twin Waters and showed the benefits where he shot 81. Next up comes the big one on Thursday so good luck. Plugger made a guest appearance at Keperra and they say that Dagwood didn't know who he was. Looked famiiar but could put a handle on it. Anyway he shot 104 which shows he has had to much time off. Dagwood on the other hand shot 90. Razor is showing the benefit of continous golf as he shot an 82 at Devonport. Army finally got out again and had a 79 at Ngamotu where he matched Vinnies 79. Vinnie then went onto play Manukorihi and shot an 83. Thats 5 xmas hampers played in for 5 of what Paddy shot at.

Last but not least his horse, which we now know runs like the wind, is nominated to start Sunday 7th at Waipukurau race 5. Name is En Jeu De Canta. 12 weeks out.

25th Nov

You wouldn't believe this but GR81 has gone to RQ to get a lesson off Harby. Well he played there with Harby anyway. Apparently Rodent and Dinky made up the foursome. In a frightening piece of news, Dinky has found one club that can hit a fairway. Seems that he now has a Mizuno 2 iron that goes the proverbial "country mile" after he used it to unload a 250 metre plus drive at RQ. Look out Rich River. For the record Rodent left a 4 foot putt (that would have shared the spoils) at least 2 feet short. Did he choke?? or maybe the pressure of being paired with the GR81 got to him. From Golflink it seems that GR81 shot 87 and Harby 99. Not sure what happened to Dinky or Rodent. Rodent can you send your Golflink number to the Frog email address. Wouldn't mind reporting how you are going - as you seem to be up for a game anytime now that you have retired. GR81 also got out and played Twin Waters for an 82 as well as venturing out and played with Squeaky, Moody and Rodent at Nudgee South where he also lost the money. The GR81 might be less active with the Brissie Frogs now that he has given up life in the bright lights of Brisbane to return to the Sunshine Coast.

Wally and Burger played together at Ashgrove over two rounds. Wally had 88 & 89 and Burger a 102 & 97. Wally then went onto play Pacific in his quest for somewhere different where he had a 104. Razor had an 86 at Devonport and has now played 3 weeks in a row . Dagwood continues to dog Keperra where he had an 86. Mayor has resufaced at Stanthorpe after a spell and it showed. He had a 101. Seems that the Mayor kept a significant success out of the news. The Mayor recently won the 2014 Medal of Medallists at Stanthorpe. Well done big fella - that means that you are out of contention at Rich River. Backhoe like Mayor returned to his home course Coolangatta where he had a 93

Crazy is still getting his head around what a spell is. He played Royal Burnley for a 71. . Vinnie visited his old home club Te Ngutu where he had a 79. His horse also had a jump out. Missed the start and only headed by a nose so is ready to show her Black Cavier like qualities. Jury is out at the moment on that.

A little late due to a night on the town. Harby has been sighted on the Royal Queensland course where he had a 90. They say he has been hiding but from who it is not known. One who was going to go into hiding has again changed his mind. Crazy was out at Royal Burnley and he's glad he did. Cleaned it all up with a 68.Playing at Keperra again was Dagwood. Not in the lands day though he had a 89 so perhaps he should have and he would have been a winner. Razer was out out again at Devonport but probably didn't want to be as he shot an 87. GR81 has been honing his skills at Twin Waters where he shot an 81 and now waits for D-day. Burger has tried honing his as well and played twice at Ashgrove but could only manage a pair of 95s. Wally accompanied him for one round where he shot a 90 and took Burgers money. Vinnie played Ngamotu and picked up some scraps with a 76. So that's it for now oh and by the way Kiwis over the Kangaroos. How did that happen?? 13 weeks out.

Lands played a 2 ball ambrose at the home of the Plugger and Dagwood (Keperra) on the eve of the G20 summit. (Don't know what that's got to do with anything) Anyway, Sumo was the only Frog to figure in the prizes which were generously sponsored by Bottlo and Squeaky (life members day). Bottlo teamed up with Hoppy and they had a day to forget golf wise and company wise. Squeaky and Rodent played in the same group and performed just as badly. Others to show up were Plugger and Flasher. Only one game remaining for the year and the highlight will be GR8-1 attempting to defend his matchplay crown. Unfortunately for him president Bottlo will be marking the card so anything could happen. Good to hear that Chopper is recovering well from his procedure and apparently looking good after losing 20 odd kilos. Bruno has been playing grandad with the apple of his eye and who knows what Harby is up to. Dinky decided that getting into some pigs out west was a better option then playing at Keperra. Oh, and Moody's still waiting for a Friday game.

Hi all and another week has gone by which means there is 15 weeks till kick off. Some kicked off again this week at various courses. Wally for example played Ashgrove for 86 then Nth Lakes for 103. Burger just went to Ashgrove and gave Wally a lesson where he had an 87. Dagwood continues his one course programme at Keperra where he had 95. Plugger also out at Keperra for a 101. By the way thats where Lands golf is this Thursday starting 8am. Be there as time is ticking. Crazy is finally giving it a spell so his last game for a while was a 76 at Royal Burnley. Another to shoot in the 70s was Vinnie. He shot a 74 at Waitara in a Xmas Hamper won the beer but no prize. Also played Ngamotu for a 82. Army also played Ngamotu and shot an 80. Razor resurfaced at Devonport for an improved 81. Last but not least Backhoe played Coolangatta for a 93.

There is a big league game this WE. Kangaroos Vrs Kiwis. Reminds me of the R O W Vrs Vics. We will leave it at that.

Who backed the winner after being given it by Army. This time last year Vinnie was at the cup losing money and he is still at but it didn't involve an airfare this time. Back to another event that stops a nation, frogs golf. One not to let the grass grow over his ball is Wally. He played Ashgrove for a 92 before heading to Nudgee where he had 102. Burger only accompanied him to Ashgrove where he had a 98. Another to shot in the 90's was Crazy. In the tourament that mattered, at Royal Burnley, the nerves got to him and like another famous Australian Greg Norman he faultered. He shot a fist full of bogey's and doubles before he signed for a 95. There is a rumour that one of his balls is travelling on the 9.15 train and another going down the freeway towards Flemington. Could account for the high score. GR81 recorded an 81 at Twin Waters. Warming up for the final at Nudgee next week. Plugger was at Keperra for a 102 and so was Dagwood where he had 96. Mayor is contemplating going to Nudgee where he thinks he will be able to knock the socks off the other frogs. He was out at Stanthorpe where he had a 91. Backhoe was at Coolangatta for a 96 and Sly reduced his work load this week. Played the Rock for a 93. That was it for him. Army before offerring advice on winners played Ngamotu for an 80. Vinnie also played Ngamotu for an 82 and then went to Opunake where he had an 81.

Lands played Nudgee last Thursday and I'm pleased to report that GR-1 has reach yet another matchplay final with an easy win in his semi. He scored 34pts stab points. Other scores were Squeaky 29pts, Bottlo 32pts, Rodent 28pts, Dinky 31pts, Sumo 29pts and Plugger 25pts. Some very average golf being played at the moment. Must be the tapering off period before Xmas.

Well we will wait with baited breath to see how GR81 fares in the final. Speaking of GR81 he obviously has benefited from some practise. He played Twin Lakes were he had an 85. Next Nth Lakes for an 83 then shot up to vist Mayor where he had an 80. Whats the old addage the harder I practise the luckier I get. Mayor on the other hand decided against practise preferring to just play and get shots from GR81. Unfortunately he had a 97 and came up just short of the win.Sly also had 3 rounds and seems it worked for him as well (practise). Gracemere for 91 then The Rock for 83 and another 83 back at Gracemere. 83 was a common score as Vinnie played Ngamuto for one as well.

Army tried having one but failed by two shot for an 81. Crazy is stuck in his work so only plays Royal Burnely these days where he had a 74. There is a chance he could make a guest appearance at Rich River for the week not a day. Dagwood was out at Keperra making up for missing last week. He had a 94 then a 91. Wally also got back into it but at Woodford for a 97. Burger on the other hand played Ashgrove where he recorded a 96 and then Plugger gathered himself after Nudgee and had a 101 at Keperra. So there we have it for another week.

Some different names to start with today. There is a golf course called Wantima and Squeaky , Rodent took on Dinky & Plugger. Unfortunately Squeaky had 102 & Rodent 101 to Dinkys 91 & Pluggers 88 and they lost 4&2. Plugger has been getting in some game time. He also had a couple of rounds at Keperra for 93 & 105. Sly just continues his game time. Two visits to Gracemere for 86 & 81 then the Rock for 99. Burger reappears this week. Ashgrove twice for 99 & 106. Another to get in two rounds was Mayor. His normal Stanthorpe for 87 but the Warwick reared up and grab him. Recorded a 101. Crazy recorded a 75 at Royal Burnley. GR81 just got the one round this week for an 80 at Twin Waters. Backhoe out at Coolangatta for a 101. Razer has played two consecutive weeks now at Devonport. He had an 83. Another who shot 83 was Vinnie. Army out played him this week at Ngamotu. He had a 79.

Lands golf this week everyone. Friday 24th Oct 8 am start at Nudgee South course. Undoubtedly results will filter through from the ever reliable Bottlo. Good luck everyone.

The count down begins. Well it is only 18 weeks away.

Back to the matter at hand and to those who ventured out in hail rain and wind. Then those who played in the sunshine. Crazy for example shot a 68 at Royal Burnley(in scorching heat) and won the monthly medal. Now goes onto the Medal of Medals ( sounds like a war decoration). GR81 (likes the water). Played Nth Lakes for 85 then Twin Waters for 80. Sly on the other hand played the waterless Rockhampton for 98, 88 & 91 then Gracemere for 88. Mayor played Stanthorpe again ( twice !!) for 95 & 88. Razor stayed at his home course Devonport where he an 80. These next 5 golfers also played on their home tracks. Plugger like Mayor twice at Keperra for 98 & 94. Backhoe at Coolangatta for 103. Dagwood at Keperra for 90. Army and Vinnie played in the hail wind and rain would you believe for 83 & 82. Then we have the gypsy among us in Wally. He played Ashgrove for 98 then Wynnum for 102. Wally moves around more courses than a woman of the night.

Well done Hawthorn by the way. Also those who played Redcliffe. Congrates to the winners and sponsors. Did they really pay out after winning their own event?

Those who didn't played elsewhere obviously. Take Razer he played Devonport for an 83. Reported wrongly was Mayor playing Stanthorpe last week. Actually he was visiting his B I L and played Devonport for his 104. This week though he was back at Stanthorpe where he shot a cool 86. Must have had a lesson from BIL. Burger played Ashgrove for 104 and Wally did as well for 103 and then a second time for a 95.

Welcome back to Backhoe after a little time off. He played Coolangatta for a 106. Plugger who couldn't get a game in at Redcliffe played Keperra for a 99. Dagwood was also seen out at Keperra where he shot 89. Sly had three hit outs. Two at Gracemere for 87 & 89 then The Rock for a 97. Crazy played Royal Burnley where he had a meritorious 71. Vinnie was out at Ngamotu Sat and Sun for 85 & 83. That my friends is it until next time Do widzenia.

3rd October

Dinky and Sumo sponsored the Lands American Foursomes at Redcliffe and combined to win their day. Squeaky and partner ran second with Bruno and Bottlo combining for third place. GR8-1 fronted up straight off the plane from USA and played a practice round. Moody and partner were pretty ordinary and Flasher and partner didn't really threaten. Congrats to Dinky on winning the NEAFL grand final with Aspley. He's now supporting what's supposed to be a tattoo on his ankle. Too many celebration drinks me thinks.

30th Sept

Well Europe won the golf and more importantly Hawthorn beat the Swans. Explains a few things that happened or didn't over the W E.

Crazys score from Droiun came through, 86 and from Burnley 73. Sly stayed in the one place this week, at Gracemere more precisely, for 88 & 91. Mayor actually had that at Stanthorpe where he recorded 104. Dagwood went one better but at Keperra for 103. Wally surfaced again at Ashgrove where he had 92. Plugger at Keperra had 94 and 101. Razor stayed down south at Devonport where he had an 85. Pom back up and walking had 97 at Omanu and Vinnie went to Hastings where he had an 84.
