What happened in 1943?

A tournament consisting of Stearns,

Waterville, Lewiston & John Bapst

was suggested in 1943 to be held

at Colby Field. This could not be

arranged so Stearns refused to attend

any tournament unless it was

held in Millinocket. They also

declared that any West winner

would have to play them at home

for a State Championship.

With all this fanfare, no Eastern

winner was ever declared. Portland

did defeat Stearns in an unsanctioned

intersectional game after the fact

but the S.P.A. just declared Portland

the State Champs outright.

No Small Class Tournament to Report either.
