Sleep

So right now? I've got a studio to clean up and a new audio interface to install. But I don't think I'm going to get that done any time soon...

Let's start with my wife's foot surgery last Thursday. It was nothing serious, just the removal of a synovial cyst. It went well, but it also meant that she couldn't drive for about a week (which will be over this coming Thursday). Add to that my daughter being on her high school dance team. This is normally something that wouldn't bother me, but she currently has twice-a-day practice, the first one starting at 6am. And, because her mom can't drive her to same, guess who gets to take her? Which means I have to get up at approximately 5:15an to get ready. Which leads to the inescapable conclusion that, by the time I get home from the day job at around 6:30pm, the last thing I want to look at is a cleanup/maintenance job. About all I want to do is to have dinner and veg out for the hour or two until I go to bed at 9. As such, my plan is to put these tasks on hold until I get back from my trip.

Trip? Yes, a trip. Luckily, my wife will be able to drive again starting this Thursday because that's when I fly back to the Midwest. I leave for Illinois early Thursday morning for a reunion (probably the last one) with my old college band, Shiver, over the Labor Day weekend. My mom's also not feeling well, so I'll take some time to visit her while I'm there, too. I get back into Portland next Tuesday evening and then Wednesday, the local band is back at the Vault doing a few more overdubs for the This, Not This! EP.

After that I'll get around to cleaning the studio. I still don't know if I'll be able to install the new audio interface, though - I have some new songs I want to record and mix demos for before I tear the place down. Maybe later this month.

In any case, I'll be blogging from the Midwest.
