The Fort Richmond Council

Mission

To support the Fort Richmond PC Constituency Association Board through advice and community leadership.

Composition

Under the overall direction of the Association Board's First Vice President, the FRC is made up of former and existing Association Board members, former campaign team members and donors, all of whom must be members of the PC Party (application form at the bottom of this page). There is no membership fee except for the cost of membership in the PC Party.

Membership is automatic and voluntary for those who qualify. The only criteria is to meet once or twice per year to discuss the issues of the day and devise your recommendations.

Strategy Table

Chaired by the Association Board's First Vice President, the FRC Strategy Table works to propose an action plan to address current issues facing the Association.

Policy Panel

Many participate in the political process to talk politics, and this is our chance!

Under the leadership of the Second Vice President, any interested members of the FRC can participate in in-camera policy discussions and participate in the regular Central Party policy forums.

Why The Council?

The Association values its members, and wants to tap into the knowledge and experience of its most engaged members.

Board members (current and past), campaign team members and donors are among the most engaged and politically intuitive citizens, and we want the benefit of that experience and political acumen.

The Issue:

The Fort Richmond PC Association Board believes that the best way to ensure a PC Victory in 2016 is to nominate a candidate early.

The Central Party is supportive, but have set three criteria that have to be met before a nomination meeting can be held:

1. The Association must accumulate $15,000 in its bank account;
2. The Association must identify at least 100 volunteers, and
3. The Association must identify 2,200 Fort Richmond residents willing to support the PCs in the next election

These are big and audacious goals for our Association, and it is a real challenge for our Board to accomplish our desire for an early nomination and meet these three objectives.

Relevant Information:

• Revenue is shared with the Central Party, for most direct donations, the Central Party keeps 70% of the donation, and the Association keeps 30%.
  • But the Association is allowed two events a year where it can keep 70% of the revenues.
• Civic and federal elections will soon be upon us, which will limit our fundraising ability, as well as our ability to phone and door-knock to identify supporters.
  • Hiring a third party to call residents is a workable solution, but the cost to do this right is approximately $12,000.

The Challenge:

The Association is working towards fulfilling the three criteria but needs help in devising the approach that aligns all our interests.

There are strong opinions on the Board about this issue, and we need advice on how to proceed. We are asking our newly formed Council for that advice.
